In agribusiness, drying is a unitary operation that optimizes the production and preservation of products and raw materials. Drying is performed through different traditional methods, one of the most recently studied is the electrohydrodynamic drying EHD which uses an electric field that allows decreasing the processing time thus increasing the drying speed of raw materials and consuming less energy. In this article, a review was carried out through Scopus using a search equation with the keywords “Electrohydrodynamic drying,” “food” and “AGRI” which resulted in a total of 145 articles; which were analyzed through in-depth reading, analyzing aspects such as year, author, keywords, countries, quartile, journal, relationship with agroindustry, mathematical models used and applications in agro-industrial products, this analysis was complemented with the application of Vantage Point software through co-occurrence matrices and cluster analysis. Recent applications were found in Carrot, Chicken, Sea Cucumber, Goji Berry, Peppermint Leaf, Quince, Potato, Blueberry, Aquatic Products, Banana Slices, Grape Pomace, Blueberry, Apple, Mushroom, Wheat, and Mushroom Slices, mathematical models with application in EHD drying were also found, such as Henderson and Pabis, Page, Logarithmic, Quadratic, Newton/Lewis, Diffusion and exponential.

The existence of microplastics (MPs) poses a potential threat to the entire ecosystem and has gained wide public attention. As an essential source of aquatic products, aquaculture industries are inevitably subjected to the pollution of MPs, particularly when the plastic products are widely used in aquaculture. Even so, the identification of MPs in aquaculture is rarely reported. Hence, high-efficient analytical methods for accurate detection of MPs in the aquaculture environment are of utmost significance. This review comprehensively summarizes the analytical methods for MPs in aquaculture, including sampling, extraction, and qualitative and quantitative analyses of MPs. MPs are identified and quantified mainly by visual inspection, spectroscopy, or thermal analysis. In addition, this review also points out the limitations of these methods and the accuracy of quality control. Finally, the need for establishing standard methods is emphasized, and suggestions for future research are also proposed.

Abstract BackgroundTo determine the associations of animal products intake and physical activity and their combined effects with cause-specific and all-cause mortality among type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in China.MethodsBaseline data of 7311 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients recruited with a stratified random cluster sampling method were collected from December 2013 to January 2014. Participants were followed up until the date of their death or December 2019 for survivors, whichever came first. Nonlinear trends of cause-specific and all-cause mortality were assessed using restricted cubic splines with three knots placed at centiles 10, 50, and 90 of diet intake. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the combined relationship of physical activity and animal products with cause-specific and all-cause mortality.ResultsDuring a median follow-up of 6.1 years, 692 (9.5%) T2DM patients died. The main cause of death was cardiovascular disease (CVD) (35.8%), followed by cancer (20.6%). After multivariable adjustment, a higher level of physical activity was nonlinearly associated with lower all-cause and CVD mortality in a J-shaped pattern, with the protective effect observed >8 MET-h/d. Higher consumption of red meat, poultry, and aquatic products was associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality (HR = 0.75, 0.64, 0.75, respectively, all P<0.05). In the highest tertiles of physical activity, a higher intake of red meat, poultry, and aquatic products was associated with a lower risk for all-cause mortality than in the lowest tertiles (red meat, HR = 0.80, 0.62, 0.51, and 0.48; poultry, HR = 0.85, 0.51, 0.48, and 0.45; aquatic products, HR = 0.80, 0.57, 0.55, and 0.40, respectively). Similarly, the protective effect of moderate to high intake of poultry, aquatic products, and eggs on CVD mortality in high physical activity was found. ConclusionsOur study highlights that in T2DM patients, better adherence to moderate to high consumption of animal products, including red meat, poultry, and aquatic products, together with engaging in moderate to high levels of physical activity exerts a beneficial effect in lowering cause-specific and all-cause mortality in China.

Abstract In order to evaluate the pollution level and risk of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH), seawater, sediments, and organisms were sampled from the southern sea area of Zhejiang province (Yangtze River Delta, China) between 2017 and 2019. Petroleum hydrocarbons were widely present in the aquatic environment as well as in products, and their concentrations were highly variable. The average value of PI exceeded 1 from 2017 to 2018, 45.46% to 69.19% samples for seawater and 56.87% to 50.00% samples for sediment were polluted. The results showed significant differences in the TPH concentration in various aquatic organism species. The average TPH value in aquatic organisms order was bivalve>shrimp>crab>fish, further reflecting the ability to accumulate and metabolize TPH exists differently among aquatic organisms within the same culturing pond environment. It is relatively safe to eat aquatic products based on the exposure risk index far below threshold values in this study. Therefore, it will be prudent to undertake regular monitoring of TPH to ensure effective ecosystem functioning as well as seafood safety in Zhejiang southern ocean.

Abstract Background A visualized, rapid, simple method was developed based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay to detect Vibrio vulnificus in aquatic products and aquaculture waters. Results Genomic DNA was extracted from Vibrio vulnificus using the boiling and column extraction methods and optimized primers were used to detect the gyrB gene using a visual LAMP method. The sensitivity of the assay was 10 fg/μL, and the results were stable and reliable. Of 655 aquatic product samples and 558 aquaculture waters samples, the positive rates of Vibrio vulnificus detection were 9.01% and 8.60%, respectively, which is markedly higher than that of the traditional culture identification methods. Conclusion The relatively simple technical requirements, low equipment costs, and rapid detection time make the visual LAMP method for detection of Vibrio vulnificus a convenient choice for field diagnosis in the aquaculture industry.
