Abstract. This paper discusses the application of forensic cartography in a civil arbitration case. This arbitration case stemmed from a hijacking of a freight of cigarettes on the 9th of May 2012. Forensic cartography in the form of a report was used to illustrate that the driver of a third-party logistics company was complicit with the crime syndicate that committed the hijacking. Cell phone data was used to map the communication between the various suspects and the driver. The time period of interest was between 15 December 2011 and 9 May 2012. The cellular base stations were used to map these communications in time and space. Based on the evidence provided it was clear that the driver of the third-party logistics company was complicit in committing the crime which led to the arbitration proceedings to be settled by the third-party logistics company in favour of the cigarette manufacturer. Further, it was concluded that the cartographic representation selection for forensic purposes is dictated by the specific case being investigated.

The multiple attribute group decision making (MAGDM) has always been a concern in the research field. In this article, we establish the interval neutrosophic TODIM method based on cumulative prospect theory (CPT-IN-TODIM) for MAGDM issue. This new developed CPTIN-TODIM method has markedly superiority in describing decision maker’s psychological states, which utilizes the weight function to adjust weighting attributes distinguishing from the classical TODIM method. Then, this new developed method has been applied to select the third-party logistics service providers and been expound on the disparity with existing methods. Finally, the results of contrastive analysis indicate that this new developed method can lead to the appropriate conclusion and sticks out the differences between alternatives to provide clearer direction. Hence, the new developed CPT-IN-TODIM method is reliable and valid.

Recently, the demand for third-party logistics providers has become extremely relevant and the key subject for businesses to enhance their service quality and minimize logistics costs. The key success factor for an e-commerce business is product delivery, and the third-party logistics service provider is responsible for that. Each 3PLP has its own business characteristics, meaning it is important to select the most suitable logistics provider for the e-commerce business. This study uses a combination of grey relational analysis (GRA) and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method, assisting decision makers in choosing the best logistics service provider for their e-business. A case study of an e-commerce company based in Faisalabad, Pakistan, was selected to demonstrate the steps of the proposed methods. In this process, seven criteria of logistics suppliers were considered, and then the best alternatives among four logistics provider companies were selected using the proposed method.

The third party logistics (3PL) suppliers selection is a key issue in sustainable operation of fourth party logistics (4PL). A two-stage auction mechanism is designed for the selection of 3PL suppliers. Different from previous studies, the paper considers risk preference of 4PL integrators during the auction and uses the prospect theory to establish the auction scoring function of 4PL integrators. First, a first score sealed auction (FSSA) mechanism is used to solve the selection problem. However, the results show that FSSA is not an ideal method. Hence, the English auction (EA) mechanism is combined with the FSSA mechanism to form a two-stage auction. The FSSA is taken as the first stage auction, and the EA is taken as the second stage auction, and the two-stage auction mechanism is constructed. The two-stage auction can improve the utility of the 4PL integrator and the auction efficiency. In addition, for the degree of disclosure of attribute weights in the scoring function, two states, complete information and incomplete information is designed. In case analysis, the validity of the designed two-stage auction mechanism is verified. The 4PL integrator can obtain higher utility under the risk-neutral auction than the risk-averse auction. The complete information auction does not make the 4PL integrator obtain higher utility than the incomplete information auction.

Risk control is the focus of logistics company risk management. However, because the risk control is a very complex project, many logistics companies have not achieved the ideal effect of risk control. As a new type of logistics service, the third party logistice service plays an important role in China's logistics service market with the expansion of the demend for logistics service. On the basis of elaborating the current situation of Jingdong logistics company risk control, this paper focuses on identifying and analyzing the main risks faced by Jingdong logistics company, and then puts forward targeted measures to control the risks of Jingdong logistics company. It is hoped that this study can provide useful reference for the risk control of the third party logistics enterprises.

Despite growing interest in logistics across the social sciences, there is still a persistent gap in relation to work that explores the organizational and competitive dynamics of the independent logistics industry, a sector worth almost US$1tn a year. This paper explores the nature, causes and consequences of commoditization in the third-party logistics (3PL) industry, using evidence derived from over 30 corporate interviews with the leading 3PL providers in the Asia-Pacific region. Commoditization captures a mature stage of industry and market development in which goods and services are widely available and interchangeable with those provided by other companies, and hence price-based competition predominates. The paper profiles the strategic responses of 3PL firms to the challenges of commoditization, which are associated with accruing scale, offsetting risk and seeking to deepen relationships with clients, arguing that they are variegated due to the different geographical and sectoral origins of the firms. Overall, it offers a profile of 3PL as a maturing industry heavily conditioned by its intersections with client global production networks.

Previous research on logistics shows that third-party logistics is of great significance to the development of e-commerce. The purpose of this study is to compare third-party logistics and self-run logistics from different perspectives, including delivery speed, capital cost, customer satisfaction, etc. By collecting the data of China post and the published research papers, the advantages of third-party logistics and self logistics can be compared, then able to summarize the development trend of e-commerce logistics, by strengthening the development of self logistics, combining with the third-party logistics to fill the gap, dividing different logistics charging standards, and improving the logistics supply chain to promote its development.

Curriculum design is the main method and important way to achieve the goal of professional talent training. At present, the teaching of The Third Party Logistics is also facing the situation of emphasizing knowledge and neglecting practice, while actively promoting the development of applied undergraduate education. In this context, it is proposed that logistics services should be projected according to the operating characteristics of enterprises. The project-driven and task-oriented teaching should be applied to stimulate students' interest in learning, and continuously strengthen their vocational skills on the basis of consolidating knowledge.

Environmental sustainability has become a critical indicator in evaluations of the success and efficiency of supply chain management. In this study, we consider a two-echelon supply chain composed of two competing manufacturers, two retailers, and one third-party logistics firm. The first manufacturer produces a green product, while the second manufacturer produces a nongreen product. Each of the two retailers can sell only a green product, only a nongreen product, or both green and nongreen products. All products are initially stored by the third-party logistics firm and delivered to the retailers. This study investigates product pricing, the degree of greenness of the first manufacturer’s product, and carbon emission reduction as carried out by the third-party logistics firm. Using a three-stage Stackelberg game framework, we present the equilibrium strategy on pricing, the degree of greenness, and carbon emission reduction for five different distribution channel structures. One of our major findings is that competition between the two manufacturers has a positive influence on the profitability of the supply chain. We also find that it is desirable for each manufacturer to choose a cross-distribution channel for its products considering the sustainability and profitability of the supply chain.
