The number of women in organizations is increasing in most countries, but the representation of women in managerial positions is still disproportional. The percentage of women in leadership positions globally is only 29%. Grant Thornton annual survey 2019 reveals that India still ranks the fifth lowest in having women in managerial roles. Thus, though diversity at work is increasing, there are still fewer women in the boardroom. The main reason for this is the hurdles and obstacles that women managers face. The chapter studies the various obstacles faced by women managers. Also, it takes into account the role of generation and aims at comparing the hurdles faced by women managers belonging to Generations X and Y. The study is undertaken with special reference to the banking sector. Major findings reveal that there is a difference in obstacles faced by women managers belonging to Generations X and Y.

Kinky Boots: The Musical is a filmed version of the London West End production that tells the story of the unlikely collaboration between Charlie Price, inheritor of a struggling family business, and Lola, a high-energy and creative drag performer, who together radically change Price & Son’s focus from men’s dress shoes to fetish footwear. The musical lends itself well to use in strategic management and organizational behavior courses as a video case or source of video clips. This article explains how strategic management instructors may use the film to discuss sustainable competitive advantage through the resource-based view and generic competitive strategies, while organizational behavior instructors may use the film to illustrate concepts such as managerial roles, diversity, conflict management, and more.

This article considers the interdependence of managerial capitalism with the historical constitution of professional work in Australia. Using data on the composition of the boards of Australia’s largest companies between 1910 and 2018, we show a deep connection between the managerial class and the top layers of professional hierarchies. Professionals in Australia forged a managerial-capitalist elite within large corporations, relying on a combination of professional expertise and signals of legitimacy that were enabled through higher education and accreditation structures. Relatively low levels of professional enclosure in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries created opportunities for Australians from middle- and working-class backgrounds to move into the capitalist elite. These opportunities were reduced significantly from the 1980s onwards as pathways to managerial roles themselves enclosed and as managerialism - as a mode of production - increasingly dominated global capitalism. The result was that by the end of the twentieth century, Australia’s corporate elite more closely resembled the rest of the world’s in its homogeneity and inaccessibility. This demonstrates the central role of professions in the reproduction of Australian capitalism over time, and the influence of professional enclosure on social mobility and inequality.

Architects throughout the time being experienced many roles in different times, while there have always been unclear what architects underwent and practised was their actual duty. This research tries to find proper answers about architects' duties, roles, and struggles in the Iraqi Kurdistan region. For this reason, questionnaires were applied to ask both the architects and administrative managers in Sulaimani governorate/department of building construction. We find out that the main role of an architect in the Sulaimani governorate is mainly designing projects. However, they are involved in managerial roles as project supervisors destined by the governorate and also another role of the architect is checking the drawings of the projects designed outside of this administration office. Another finding was that the architects in the Sulaimani governorate or Iraqi Kurdistan region generally face the problem that their works are done by other specialists, which sometimes cause some domain faults in the works and do not have enough or proper area to work in.

This study of transferring management and business knowledge in China tapped the views and opinions of 43 expert management educators who had participated in the transfer of management knowledge in China from the mid-1990s to the present time. It traces the development of management education in China following the implementation of the 1978 Open Door Policy, demonstrates the impact of China’s national culture on knowledge transfer, identifies success factors in the process, and exposes the noncomparability of culture-specific approaches to managing people and organizations. We argue that the management values, attitudes, and practices of Chinese managers are diverging from those in the West, which has significant implications for the curriculum and pedagogy employed in the delivery of management education. Understanding the basis for this divergence will benefit expat and local manager alike as they negotiate their managerial roles in cross-border organizations like international joint ventures (IJVs).

BackgroundA hybrid leader is an individual with a professional background who takes on managerial roles. For surgeons, leadership is a non-technical skill within a domain of a human factor and a diverse role that makes them an effective hybrid leader.ObjectivesWe hypothesised that a surgical leader acts as a link between different departments in an organisation to influence performance at the workplace to bring positive changes in healthcare and patient safety.MethodsWe followed the nine-dimension Healthcare Leadership Model (HLM) and reflected on the leadership roles within our surgical department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, United Kingdom.ResultsChanges were quickly adopted and monitored while leadership learned adaptability to function quickly. Hierarchical decision making was removed while levelling up communication. Telemedicine was quickly adopted at both elective and ambulatory emergency settings. The local survey also showed trust and co-operation among team members.ConclusionsHybrid surgical leadership is a complex but divergent role that acts as a bridge between the surgical team and others in administrative roles that promotes safer patient outcomes and better well-being for the organisations’ members

This study aims to determine the levels of status of the roles of the teachers and behavior of the students in English online distance learning during the first and second grading periods of the school year 2020-2021. There are ninety-five (95) students who participated in the study. The instrument used to gather data was the questionnaire. Employing the descriptive survey method of research, the teachers’ roles are examined into three categories. These categories are teachers’ affective roles, teachers’ planner roles, and teachers’ managerial roles during the English online distance learning. The roles have 10-item descriptors to describe the online distance learning teachers. The students’ behavior is examined into three categories, too. These categories are students’ behavior when reading, students’ behavior when writing, and students’ behavior when viewing and listening during their English online distance learning classes. Each role has 10-item descriptors to describe the behavior of the students. This study hypothesized that there is no significant relationship of the teachers’ roles and the students’ behavior in English online distance learning during the first and second grading periods of the school year 2020-2021. To test the significant relationship between the teachers’ roles and students’ behavior, correlation analysis is used.
