The development of urban rail transit is of great significance to the sustainable development of cities. However, the formulation of public norms of the urban rail transit train operation scheme lacks the corresponding theoretical support, rationality and scientificity. Therefore, based on the research on passenger flow conditions, this paper establishes an optimization model of express train operation and uses a heuristic genetic algorithm to solve it. In addition, this paper takes the Beijing Changping Line as an example to conduct empirical research. Results show that the optimization model established reduces the operation cost of operating enterprises, improves the capacity of urban rail transit, reduces travel time and maintains the full load rate of trains at a more comfortable level. This will improve the attractiveness of urban rail transit and promote benign interaction between operators and passengers. It will also provide a theoretical basis for formulating public norms of transit train operation, make it more scientific and reasonable and promote the development of urban rail transit.

As the share of public transport increases, the express strategy of the urban railway is regarded as one of the solutions that allow the public transportation system to operate efficiently. It is crucial to express the urban railway’s express strategy to balance a passenger load between the two types of trains, that is, local and express trains. This research aims to estimate passengers’ preference between local and express trains based on a machine learning technique. Extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) is trained to model express train preference using smart card and train log data. The passengers are categorized into four types according to their preference for the local and express trains. The smart card data and train log data of Metro Line 9 in Seoul are combined to generate the individual trip chain alternatives for each passenger. With the dataset, the train preference is estimated by XGBoost, and Shapley additive explanations (SHAP) is used to interpret and analyze the importance of individual features. The overall F1 score of the model is estimated to be 0.982. The results of feature analysis show that the total travel time of the local train feature is found to substantially affect the probability of express train preference with a 1.871 SHAP value. As a result, the probability of the express train preference increases with longer total travel time, shorter in-vehicle time, shorter waiting time, and few transfers on the passenger’s route. The model shows notable performance in accuracy and provided an understanding of the estimation results.

Abstract The Doppler effect in 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 MIMO wireless communication systems with channel estimation is studied. The orthogonal pilot signal approach is used for the channel estimation, where the Hadamard sequences are used for piloting, along with the eight alternative orthogonal sets similar to the Walsh set. MIMO transmissions are simulated for 10 cases of the frame length and pilot symbols per frame by no Doppler shift to 1100 Hz Doppler shift with a step of 100 Hz. Based on the simulation, it is ascertained that MIMO transmissions of shorter frames are less sensitive to the Doppler effect. Despite increasing the number of antennas does not mitigate the Doppler effect, and the bit-error rate performance of 4×4 MIMO systems worsens faster than that of 2×2 MIMO systems, it is better to use the maximum number of antennas. The Doppler effect does badly worsen the performance at highway and express train speeds (100 km/hr, and faster), leaving only possibility to further shorten transmissions. This, however, decreases the data rate, but the respective accuracy-versus-data-rate tradeoff must be acceptable.

We consider a train scheduling problem in which both local and express trains are to be scheduled. In this type of train scheduling problem, the key decision is determining the overtaking stations at which express trains overtake their preceding local trains. This problem has been successfully modeled via mixed integer programming (MIP) models. One of the obvious limitation of MIP-based approaches is the lack of freedom to the choices objective and constraint functions. In this paper, as an alternative, we propose an approach based on reinforcement learning. We first decompose the problem into subproblems in which a single express train and its preceding local trains are considered. We, then, formulate the subproblem as a Markov decision process (MDP). Instead of solving each instance of MDP, we train a deep neural network, called deep Q-network (DQN), which approximates Q-value function of any instances of MDP. The learned DQN can be used to make decision by choosing the action which corresponds to the maximum Q-value. The advantage of the proposed method is the ability to incorporate any complex objective and/or constraint functions. We demonstrate the performance of the proposed method by numerical experiments.

In Referring to the government programs on the increasing speed of the Jakarta-Surabaya express train in 2017, problems arise in the field, namely the potential increase in freight transportation via the railway line where an increase in loading is required on the railway especially for the existing bridge. This Research was implemented by increasing of the loading of the standard PM 60/2012 bridge to be compared with the EN1991: 2/2003 standard. This research analyzed the increase in structural strength of the 30m span steel bridge of the BH 182 constructed in Operational Region 2 Bandung as a results of loading adjustment from PM 60/2012 to EN 1991:2/2003.This paper explained an effect caused by increasing load on railway bridges with similar span and materials on normal plane, shear plane, moment and deflection. Structural analysis and calculation was performed by means of SAP2000 software. Results of analysis showed that standard equalization of EN 1991:2/2003 caused increasing percentage of loading combination of Comb L, normal plane, shear plane, moment plane, and deflection are of 35%, 60%, 71%, and 31%, respectively. While for Comb R loading combination for normal plane, shear plane, moment plane, and deflection are of 30%, 64%, 71%, and 30%, respectively. Keywords : PM 60 of 2012; EN1991:2-2003; SAP2000; Normal Field; Shear Field; Moment Field; Deflection.
