This article aims to study the influencing relationship of self-image of the teacher on learners. It reveals the teacher’s ways of presenting himself to learners inside and outside the classroom, and through parallel activities. These activities create a model image (ideal ethos) that pushes many learners to abandon previous study orientations chosen by themselves, by their parents or by the guidance department in educational institutions. They also make them highly motivated to learn as a result of the positive impact that the teacher creates in a given specialty or subject. The teacher in this context is not only providing lessons, he is also a mentor, a social assistant, and psychotherapist who enhances the sense of the educated self, gives it hope and confidence, and encourages it to achieve its desired goal. Therefore, the learner seeks as a result the prestigious position in society that psychologists define as the highest human goal that makes an individual someone who has integrity and is beneficial to himself and to others. To conclude, the teacher plays an important role in charting the learners’ path towards specific trends as a result of the picture he draws for them, based on his academic or professional career or as a result of the way he works with them in the classroom. Indeed, the innovative and creative ways sets every teacher apart from other teachers. Keywords: Ethos, Teacher, Argumentation, Learner.

This chapter discusses the behind-the-scenes process of persuading school leaders to approve a music technology offering. The key administrators involved in making these decisions include the guidance department and curriculum leaders, and the text covers how to communicate most effectively with them. While educational philosophy is important to individual teachers, school leaders are more concerned with practical matters, so the chapter discusses how a new electronic music course will affect day-to-day operations in a school. The chapter includes strategies and experiences for pitching a new course and for seeking funding, and it offers advice to teachers who are about to embark on class creation. The chapter also presents suggestions for communicating with other stakeholders and advocacy arguments, such as the broader demographic reach of music technology classes. Finally, the text suggests effective responses to the critical opposition often faced by nontraditional music classes.

The elaborative and sensitive guidance of maternal reminiscing are robust facilitators of children’s cognitive and socioemotional development. Maternal reminiscing has been identified as impaired among maltreating mothers and as a mechanism linking maltreatment with poor developmental outcomes. Few studies, however, have examined associations between maternal reminiscing and the severity of abuse, neglect, and emotional maltreatment perpetrated by mothers. In the current study, 156 maltreated and 80 nonmaltreated preschoolers (3–6-year-olds) and their mothers reminisced about four emotional events. Maternal reminiscing was coded for elaboration and sensitive guidance. Department of Child Service records were coded for the severity of each maltreatment subtype perpetrated by the mother against the child that reminisced in the study (i.e., target child level) and against any children within the family (i.e., family level). Neglect severity at both target and family levels was negatively associated with maternal sensitive guidance during reminiscing. More severe neglect perpetrated at the family level was associated with lower maternal elaboration. Maternal reminiscing was not significantly associated with abuse severity or emotional maltreatment severity at the target and family levels. These results contribute to a nuanced understanding of maternal reminiscing among maltreating families, with implications for maltreated children’s development and relational interventions.

Endoscope decontamination prevents cross-infection and misdiagnosis. Legislation and guidance exist to ensure this, and Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation is dependent on correct adherence. Due to their cost and complex construction, endoscopes have to be decontaminated between patients. Manual cleaning is an integral part of the decontamination process and helps ensure prions, which can transmit Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), are cleared. Guidelines and standards include Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Top Ten Tips, British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) guidance, Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) advice and the health technical memorandum, MTH-01-06. Over recent years, guidance has been updated. Changes incorporate tracking and traceability, levels of essential practice and best practice requirements, time from bedside clean to endoscope washer disinfection processing and issues around CJD. Guidance includes following the manual decontamination process, use of endoscope washer disinfectors, choice of disinfectants, rinse-water quality, safety, endoscope storage, operational management, environmental design and training. By following the most up-to-date guidance and legislation, nurses can ensure the safety of both patients and staff.

The purpose of this study is to determine the factors affecting the intercultural sensitivity perception levels of Psychological Counseling and Guidance students. This study was conducted in Pamukkale University which is located in the western part of Turkey. Data were gathered from 524 freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students who are studying in the Psychological Counseling and Guidance department. The study was designed as a survey research. As a data collection tool, “Intercultural Sensitivity Scale” which was developed by Chen and Strasto (2000) and adapted to Turkish language by Bulduk, Tosun, and Ardic (2011) was employed. In the analysis of the data, the t-test and the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that the more grade level rises, the more students’ intercultural sensitivity perception level increases. It was found that the intercultural sensitivity perception levels were higher for students who stated that their experiences during undergraduate studies affected their views on cultural differences positively and for those having lived with various cultures than other participants. It was also found that the factors affecting the intercultural sensitivity perception level of students who are studying in Psychological Counseling and Guidance department are such; grade level, experience in undergraduate level, the longest place of settlement, a situation of being with different cultures. When the situation of being with different cultures increases intercultural sensitivity is considered, making widespread of international and national student exchange programs such as ERASMUS and FARABI and arranging educational settings by giving place for interaction with various cultures might be suggested.
