Abstract Black garlic is a type of heat-treated garlic for which the traditional process is extremely simple but it is very time-consuming, taking more than one month. The purpose of this research was to reduce the processing time of black garlic. A novel processing including soaking and freezing was applied for the pre-treatment of the garlic. The effects of two temperatures (60 and 80 °C) and two relative humidities (65 and 80% RH) were investigated to find the optimum conditions for black garlic production. The optimum conditions for black garlic production were pre-treatment using CaCl2 soaking followed by freezing before being further incubated at 80 °C and 80% RH for 1 week. This optimal condition produced black garlic with high antioxidant activity as 5,390 and 25,421 mg Trolox/100 g dry weight for DPPH and ABTS assays, respectively. However, the incubation process at 60 °C and 65% RH provided golden garlic with the highest S-allylcysteine (SAC) content by about 1,772 mg/100 g dry weight. This novel process shortened the processing time of black garlic by about four times and provided a new processed garlic product called “golden garlic”.

The objective of the current study was to examine the role of innovative ideas in business sustainability. The mediating role of innovative process, innovative production and innovative supply chain was also examined. Therefore, the relationship between innovative ideas, innovative process, innovative production, innovative supply chain and business sustainability was examined. Data was collected from the employees of textile companies. As the Indonesian textile companies were under investigation in the current study. Data was collected from Indonesian textile company employees. 300 questionnaires were sent to the textile companies with the help of email. Hence, email surveys were preferred with the help of questionnaires. Results of the study highlights that the innovative ideas had a major role in business sustainability. Introduction of new ideas inside the boundaries of the organization expedites the business sustainability. Additionally, innovative ideas have a positive effect on innovative production and innovative supply chains. Moreover, innovative production and innovative supply chain have a positive effect on business sustainability. Therefore, innovative ideas increase the innovative production and supply chain which further shows a positive effect on business sustainability.

Thermochemical water splitting processes based on Sulfur-Iodine cycle can be conveniently improved using solid intermediates, in order to increase the global yield and avoid the use of concentrated acid at high temperatures. In this context, an innovative process has been conceived, where a metal oxide, namely NiO, is reduced into oxygen and the correspondent metal, which can be suitably stored and reacted with steam into hydrogen when and where necessary. Data previously obtained and published, together with the integration of experimental results have been used to evaluate the technical feasibility and the heat duties of each step of the proposed cycle. The starting point was a Nickel compounds based process already extensively characterized, which has been modified using low toxic Iron (III) species as intermediates for oxygen formation. Based on the theoretical and experimental analysis carried out, the resulting cycle thermal efficiency is quite promising, about 19%, also taking into account the hydrogen generation step.

Abstract This article expands and complicates the literature on “craft” by examining the seeming anomaly of a craft community dominating a significant production sector within an advanced industrial economy, and despite the existence of cheaper high-tech and labor-saving alternatives. Japanese house-carpenters, organized into very small firms with very local markets, and producing “traditional” house-frames in small batches, have long held prefabrication and other alternatives at bay through a process of conservative innovation. The primary goal of their innovative process has been the protection and continuance of house-carpentry as a relevant and marketable skill, and of its practitioners as a self-sustaining community. This craft is not an exemplar of sustainability in other ways, however, despite its association with the traditional and organic. Its house-products have unnaturally short lives given Japanese methods of accounting for property value, and its raw material, foreign-sourced old-growth forests, are increasingly subject to global conservation efforts.

In the course of developing an innovative process for CO2-optimised valuable metal recovery from precipitation residues accumulating in the zinc industry or nickel industry, the chlorination reactions were investigated. As the basis of small-scale pyrometallurgical experiments, the selected reaction systems were evaluated by means of thermodynamic calculations. With the help of the thermochemical computation software FactSage (Version 8.0), it is possible to simulate the potential valuable metal recovery from residual materials such as jarosite and goethite. In the course of the described investigations, an algorithmically supported simulation scheme was developed by means of Python 3 programming language. The algorithm determines the optimal process parameters for the chlorination of valuable metals, whereby up to 10,000 scenarios can be processed per iteration. This considers the mutual influences and secondary conditions that are neglected in individual calculations.

The article reveals the features of continuing professional education as an important element of the organizational structure of the existing education system in Russia. Continuing professional education as an object that has its own organizational structure appears as a carrier of the need for effective management, in the rationalization of the process of forming various management decisions. In general, the management of the system of continuing professional education in our country should be considered successful, but some management problems remain unresolved. One of them is the problem of increasing the level of validity of management decisions: strategic, tactical, operational, improving the quality, reliability and degree of their compliance with the real conditions of the system of continuing professional education. As part of the solution to these problems, the necessity of introducing management consulting tools into the management of continuing professional education organizations is substantiated. The features of management consulting, its methodology and methods are considered. The concept of "combined consulting" in the field of continuing professional education is introduced. It is shown that consulting, as professional assistance in solving key problems and achieving sustainable success in the activities of organizations of the system of continuing professional education, is a management reserve, the rational use of which will ensure the formation of an innovative process, which is the most important factor in the strategic adaptation of the system of continuing professional education in a dynamically developing external environment.
