The vegetables, Chinese kale and Pakchoi, which are popular among the Thai people, are found to have problems with residues of pesticide. The pesticide residues in both Kale and Pakchoi were chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin. This research was to study the efficiency of pesticide residue reduction in Chinese kale and Pakchoi samples by using various household wash processing. The process included washing with normal water, 0.10% NaCl, baking soda, water flowing, and blanching. Pesticide residues were extracted from Chinese kale and Pakchoi to determine the amount of chlorpyriphos and cypermethrin residue by using analytical tools such as Gas Chromatography— Flame Photometric Detector (FPD) and Gas Chromatography—Electron Capture Detector (ECD). The results showed that the household processes for reducing the chlorpyrifos residue in Chinese kale and Pakchoi were the following: residues were reduced by 52.70–65.41%, 58.33–62.14%, 59.46–80.52%, and 46.04–62.85% when washed with normal water, 0.10% NaCl, baking soda, and water flowing through, respectively. Similarly, the household processes for reducing cypermethrin residue in Chinese kale and Pakchoi were the following: residues were reduced by 51.13–66.29%, 33.75–45.65%, 38.14–63.64%, and 44.88–61.63% when washed with normal water, 10% NaCl, baking soda, and water flowing through, respectively. Also, blanching reduced the chlorpyrifos residue by 37.96–50.44% and the cypermethrin residue by 47.86–52.42%. Therefore, while washing vegetables by soaking and dissolving substances, baking soda is the most effective when used for washing for at least 15 min to reduce the residue of pesticides. The consumers should be provided vegetables that are cleaned and have had a proper washing for removing pesticide residues and toxic residues.

The study was done to formulate a drink from an old medicinal herb and retain all the potential benets with a new taste and avor. For this an herbal drink was formulated and its quality ascertained. In the rst part of the study, syrup was prepared from the raw leaves of the herb with addition of acids and avors. Then this syrup was diluted further followed by carbonation with 1:3 ratio of soda water and bottled. Three samples were prepared namely, T1 (same as previous but with 1:3 ratio carbonation and dividing the sample hot lled and cold lled ). In the next part, prepared samples were subjected to sensory evaluation, chemical and microbial analysis when fresh and 0 after regular intervals at room temperature (27±1 °C) and refrigerated temperature (below 7 C). Microbial analysis of the product was done to check the quality of the herbal drink and self-life of the product. The control sample T1 cold lled was the most acceptable due to its unique taste and avor, followed by sample T1( hot lled) . The present study entailed to conclude that preparation of a drink with B. monnieri leaf extracts gives a new taste and avor with high nutritional values. This drink can be stored safe for nearly a month if carbonated and storage at refrigerated 0 temperature (below 5 C).

Alcohol's effects on bystander responses to potential sexual assault situations are understudied. In this mixed-methods study, we examined quality of bystander responses in intoxicated versus sober people. Participants were 121 young adults (ages 21–29, 50% female) randomly assigned to consume alcoholic beverages or soda water. After drinking, participants listened to a sexual assault vignette and completed a semistructured interview assessing how they would respond if they had witnessed the situation. Nearly all participants reported they would directly intervene if faced with the situation. Intoxicated participants and men were significantly less likely to use high-quality bystander intervention strategies than were sober participants and women. Results suggest that alcohol intoxication may negatively impact the likelihood that bystander intervention efforts will be helpful.

The objective of this study was to prepare the skeletons of duck to enhance veterinary anatomy teaching. Five aged ducks were used in this experiment, which was collected from the Bangladesh Agricultural University poultry farm. The ducks were skinned and different segments of the body were dissected with the help of a scalpel. Then the bones were wrapped using merkin clothes, heated in 5% solution of soda water for 1 hour, and kept in that solution for 7 days for decomposing the muscles, tendon and ligaments. For proper cleaning, the bones were dipped into 10% bleaching water for 2 hours. After complete sundry, the bones were articulated using super glue for rising into a skeleton. The vertebral column was aligned with 25-gauge steel wire was inserted into the vertebral foramen. Finally, the skeletons were fixed on a wooden stand. Therefore, the skeletons were preserved and used for demonstration of osteology, and avian anatomy. This duck skeleton will be used to study avian morphology and make a comparative analysis with other mammals. Asian J. Med. Biol. Res. June 2019, 5(3): 192-196
