COVID-19 is a pandemic that has spread in various countries. The health care system in hospitals is burdened with widespread infections and health problems. In addition, educational aspects, especially obstetrics and gynecology education, have problems in clinical practice. This study reviews the role of the learning media in supporting the competence of resident doctors in specialist education for obstetrics and gynecology. Narrative review is done by reviewing some literature that explores the use of media in supporting medical education competencies. The search was performed using MeSH keywords in the PubMed, Google Scholar and ScienceDirect databases. The literature used is research conducted in the last 5 years. The collected data is then arranged in a narrative manner. The challenges experienced in medical resident education, especially the focus on obstetrics and gynecology during the COVID-19 pandemic, have become a consideration for the need for innovative media so that learning can run as usual. All aspects need to ensure quality education for resident doctors because they will continue to provide health services in the future. ABSTRACTFirst Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Gengxu Li and Si Chen are co-first authors on ‘Matrix stiffness regulates α-TAT1-mediated acetylation of α-tubulin and promotes silica-induced epithelial–mesenchymal transition via DNA damage’, published in JCS. Gengxu is an undergraduate student in the lab of Fang Yang at Basic Medicine College, North China University of Science and Technology, China, and Si is a resident doctor at the Department of Neurosurgery, Tangshan People's Hospital, China, where they study the pathogenesis and prevention of lung fibrosis.

Background: Hypoglycemia may rarely present as hemiparesis and sometimes it is difficult to differentiate from ischemic stroke. When random blood sugar (RBS) value is between 50 and 80 mg % in patients presenting with focal neurological deficit, no guideline exists to consider the possibility of hypoglycemia before initiating thrombolytic therapy. Clinical Case: A 58-year-old male, who was a known case of diabetes and hypertension, was brought to the emergency room with acute onset of right hemiparesis and dysarthria of 90 minutes duration. His NIHSS Score was 9, blood pressure was 150/90 mm of Hg and RBS was 79 mg% on admission. His CT scan brain was normal and was considered for thrombolysis. Resident doctor not aware of previous sugar repeated RBS before thrombolysis which was surprisingly 60 mg% 60 minutes after the first RBS. Even though he was a candidate for thrombolysis, intravenous 25 % dextrose was administered considering the possibility of hypoglycemia. He made a complete recovery within 20 minutes and thrombolytic therapy was withheld. : In Diabetic patients with focal neurological deficit and RBS less than 80 mg% on admission, RBS should be rechecked and in appropriate cases should be challenged with IV dextrose considering the possibility of hypoglycemia before commencing thrombolytic therapy.

The article deals with simulation training in the training of a resident doctor: the relevance of the problem; research methods; survey of residency graduates. Based on the research results, it is concluded that simulation training has a number of serious advantages.
