We show that some of results, obtained by S.N. Bernstein, on constructive function theory, under certain conditions, take place for uniform polynomial approximation of functions that are analytic in finite number of non-intersecting continuums. On the base of obtained results for certain class of analytic functions we calculate asymptotic values of some $n$-widths.

The title is considered as a text category of a synthetic character, a result of author’s analytical reasoning and his way of compressing information. As a frame element it is characterized by features of effectiveness and procedurality and gains a specific inference, combining initial and excretory knowledge, explicit and implicit information, text and subtext. The aim of the article is to identify how the semantics of the title are expanding as the poetic text is being developed and numerous and diverse prospective and retrospective links of its elements are formed. The analysis of the poetical text explicated its metaphysical and ontological nature. The information in the text is gradually introduced via an ambivalent method with a combination of demonstration and implication. A totality of information transmission, formed by principles of exaggeration, antithesis, parallelism and veiling was identified. A list of various stylistic methods enhancing the title, explicating its’ cognitive characteristics and executing a constructive function was revealed. Additional meanings of the words ‘persistence’, ‘activity’, ‘power’, ‘optimism’, ‘vulnerability’, ‘communicativity’, ‘compassion’, ‘faith’, ‘assertivity’, that are being brought into the title as the text goes, including a connection with the concepts «Autumn» / «Spring», «Faith», which justified its’ metaphorization and symbolization, were discovered. All this determined the metaphorisation and symbolisation of the title and allowed the poem to be referred to as metaphysical lyrics.

This article deals with the task of understanding main theoretical movements in cognitive science, including classical computational cognitivism, connectionism, moderate embodied cognition, and predictive processing. For this purpose, the article analyzes the well-known post-positivist conceptions of philosophy of science developed by T. Kuhn, I. Lakatos, and L. Laudan, which focus not on individual theories, but on groups of theories. Despite the fact that all these well-known post-positivist conceptions describe well certain features of theoretical movements in cognitive science, none of them as such can be taken as a basis for understanding those cognitivist groups of theories and models. Thus, the article develops an alternative approach based on the author’s idea of theoretical complexes. With the help of this idea, it becomes possible, firstly, to characterize the form of organization of main theoretical movements in cognitive science. From this point of view, complexes of individual theories, models, and conceptions in cognitive science can be formed both on the basis of one common property or a number of common properties, and on the basis of family resemblance. And, secondly, the idea of theoretical complexes has made it possible to clarify the basic functions of cognitivist theoretical movements. These functions include the constructive function of a landmark for the supporters of one particular complex (including the subordinate functions of creating and modifying individual theories, defining their basic concepts, etc.). and the negative function of a target for criticism for supporters of competing complexes.

This article shows the dialectic influence of phenomenon of corruption on the social reality of modern society. The main approaches to assessing the consequences of corruption processes are considered. Through the prism of these approaches, a structural analysis of consequences of corruption in economic, political, social and spiritual spheres of society is carried out. Based on the philosophical principle of reflection, factors of social danger of corruption are identified, main manifestations of corruption affecting the formation of the image of social reality are described. The article provides a critical analysis of the revisionist approach. Its supporters believe that corruption can be viewed as a natural phenomenon that manifests itself in the transitional periods of development of society, with a change in the norms of its functioning and the lack of consensus, as well as a kind of mediator that unites the emerging privileged and excluded strata a changing society. The main function of corruption within this approach is to preserve the unity and maintain the integrity of socio-economic system in certain conditions, after which corruption should disappear. The laws of dialectics are manifested in this area of human interactions. Therefore, we can talk about the socially constructive function of studied social phenomenon. It is shown that the ratio of constructive and destructive consequences of corruption manifestations in various social systems and at different stages of their historical development varies.

Abstract We prove that every locally constant constructive function on an interval is in fact a constant function. This answers a question formulated by Andrej Bauer [ 1]. As a related result, we show that an interval consisting of constructive real numbers is in fact connected but can be decomposed into the disjoint union of two sequentially closed nonempty sets.

Liberal democracies attempt to accommodate conscientious objections without having a clear understanding of the claims of conscience. This might lead to an Antigone claim, when conscience is irreconcilable with state authority. In this essay, I sketch three different models of conscience: a knowledge-based model where conscience gives priority access to moral norms; an emotional model that treats conscience as a natural capability that alerts us to wrongdoing; and a reflection model that argues that conscience works as our inner tribunal. Each model presents a different challenge to political authority. The conflict becomes tragic in Antigone's sense only when conscience is portrayed as providing knowledge of moral norms. The other two models can be squared with political authority in various ways, but they do not offer a final case for the authority of conscientious claims; at best, they show that political authorities should hear conscientious claims and engage with them in public deliberation. Conscience thus reconstructed can provide a constructive function in any society a) by holding political authorities to account; b) by forcing them to provide reasons for their actions; and, ultimately, c) by refining our deliberative and adjudicative practices to make sure that action is always anchored to truth.

The article deals with cognitive and semantic organization of Vs. V. Ivanov’s story «By the Old Road to Smolensk» («Bliz Staroi Smolenskoi Dorogi») in historical, cultural, poetical and ontological aspects. The constructive function of the subtext with its plot-building potential is revealed. The aim of the research is to disclose subtextual scopes of meaning and semantics on the motive and imagery; architectonical and compositional; idea and philosophy levels of the text. With this aim the structural and typological method of investigating literary phenomena was used along with the elements of hermeneutical, stylistic analysis of literary prose in its syntagmatics and paradigmatics. Vs. V. Ivanov’s story devoted to the anniversary of the Battle of Borodino and written in the years of the Great Patriotic War gives implicit parallels between the events fateful for the Russian history, presents a national image of the world and conceptualizes the notion of an individual private history with its close connection with world history. The author’s attention is focused on the image of a Russian peasant woman who accumulated the archetypical features of Mother Earth and Motherland having renounced all her family for the sake of the victory. Comprehension of severe hardships of Homeland is given though her understanding of war and peace. But the image of the old woman – Agrippina Caryina – and her life drama in Vs. V. Ivanov’s story is represented through the eyes of Vasily Andreyevich Zhukovsky who impersonated the author’s mind. The conflict/dialogue of two different life worlds shapes the inner plot of the story realized in the subtext, which helps the author to comprehend the life and fate of the heroine. The subtext being a constructive means of the story plot building enables the artist to transfer the real thoughts of the heroine, the tragedy and feat of her family in the Battle of Borodino, which she does not directly speak about, but which are clear to the «enlightened» interlocutor.

The article is devoted to the study of the conflicting social nature of restrictions on law. A regular relationship is established between conflicts in the social and legal life and restrictive legal means, which are aimed at preventing (creating legal boundaries) and minimizing conflict relations between social actors. The constructive function of socio-legal conflicts is ascertained, during which ways to overcome conflict situations in the legal life of society are developed. The research is funded by RFBR according to the research project no. 19-011-00726.

The article examines the system of legislation of the defense sector, issues related to the process of further improving the legal regulation of security and defense complex, which require a scientific analysis of the changes that take place. In particular, it was concluded that military law is a separate phenomenon in the legal system, national or international, by synthesizing the basic features of the general law and the specific features of the military-professional regulator of social relations. And the realization of military law as its main constructive function is one of the most urgent paradigms of the defense of Ukraine
