Abstract Three novel D-π-π-A prototype compounds, namely, (E)-2-(3-([1,1'-biphenyl]-2-yl)-1-(9H-fluoren-2-yl) allylidene) malononitri-le (2-BAM), (E)-2-(3-([1,1'-biphenyl]-3-yl)-1-(9H-fluoren-2-yl)allylidene) malononitri-le (3-BAM), (E)-2-(3-([1,1'-biphenyl]-4-yl)-1-(9H-fluoren-2-yl)allylidene) malononitri-le (4-BAM) were synthesized. Furthermore, the structures and photophysical properties of three compounds were compared. Molecules of 2-BAM were packed into a 1D column structure with H-aggregation. However, both of 3-BAM and 4-BAM were packed into 3D layer structures with J-aggregation, respectively. Although three compounds all showed highly twisted molecular geometries, their molecular packing and intermolecular interactions were different. Because of the differences in electronic structures of molecules, the three compounds displayed different emission behaviors in solid and dilute solution. This study indicated that changing the position of biphenyl groups is an effective way to turn the structures and photophysical properties of such D-π-π-A prototype fluorescent material.

The tidal variability of the Minho and Douro lower estuaries (NW Portugal) water column structure was assessed at the semi-diurnal and fortnightly time scales under two contrasting seasonal river flow scenarios during the summer of 2005 and winter of 2006. Sediment fluxes inferred from calibrated ADCP acoustic backscatter revealed that, during spring tides and low runoff conditions, both estuaries act as sinks instead of sources of sediments into the inner shelf. Sediment export occurred during neaps, in both estuaries, when the river flow values were high enough to counteract the effect of the entering flood. No evidence of coarse sediment export into the inner shelf that would eventually nourish the littoral system could be inferred from these datasets.

Abstract The inverted umbrella HP RC shells became a predominant type of single column structure during the 1950s and 1960s. The paper provides a historical overview of architecturally most attractive inverted umbrella HP structures made out of reinforced concrete. It starts in the second quarter of the 20th century with the world’s oldest umbrella structures, designed by three pioneers: F. Aimond, A. Williams and K. Hruban. The most notable master in designing was F. Candela, as he constructed a number of this structures in Mexico between 1953-68. During the 1960s this form became widely used all over the Western world but suddenly disappear after 1975. The results of the paper are presented in three figures where the inverted umbrella HP RC shells are analysed according to several criteria (number of built elements, roof dimensions with shapes, use of the structures in relationship to year of completion). The similarities and differences between elements of the analysed buildings are compared and discussed. In the conclusion, the advantages and disadvantages are briefly exposed.

The comparative study on analysis of RCC Frame structure supported on a single column and multi-column is done in this project. Cost comparison , Ground space comparison is done between RCC single column and RCC multi column structure .This paper presents structural modelling, stress, bending moment, shear force and displacement, deflection design considerations for a structure and it is analysed using STAAD-Pro. Various steps involved in designing of RCC Frame structure supported on a single column and multi-column by using software are Geometric Modelling, providing material properties and sectional Properties, fixing supports and boundary Conditions, providing loads & load combinations, Special Commands, Analysis Specification , Design Command and Report. The influence of plan geometry has an important role in static analysis. Maximum values of stresses, bending moments, shear forces and displacements and deflection are presented. The acting loads considered in the present analysis were dead load, Live load, floor load, and wind load. The project is to planning & analysis by using software for a multi storied building and single column building of G+3, G+7, G+15 floors. The design is done by taking in to account the requirements and standards recommended by IS code and national building rules.

Physical and (bio)chemical processes in the catchment as well as internal lake processes influence the composition of lacustrine sediments. Lake internal processes are a consequence of reactions and fluxes between sediment, porewater and the water column. Due to its separation into four interconnected sub-basins, Lake Sentani, Papua Province, Indonesia, is a unique tropical lake that reveals a wide range of geochemical conditions. The highly diverse geological catchment causes mineralogical and chemical differentiation of the sediment input into each sub-basin. Also, strong morphological differences between the sub-basins result in a unique water column structure for each sub-basin, ranging from fully mixed to meromictic. Given the strong differences in sediment composition and bottom water chemistry among the four sub-basins, Lake Sentani offers a unique chance to study multiple lacustrine systems under identical climate conditions and with a common surface water chemistry. We used sediment cores and water samples and measured physicochemical water column profiles to reveal the geochemical characteristics of the water column, the sediment and pore water for all four sub-basins of Lake Sentani. The chemical composition of the sediment reveals differentiation among the sub-basins according to their sediment input and water column structure. Catchment lithology mainly affects overall sediment composition, whereas pore water chemistry is also affected by water column structure, which is related to basin morphology and water depth. In the meromictic sub-basins the bottom water and sediment pore water appear to form a single continuous system, whereas in those sub-basins with oxygenated bottom water the sediment-water interface forms a pronounced chemical barrier.

Based on the contact angle prediction model of a traditional square column structure, the prediction models for wettability of a parallelogram square column structure (PSCS) on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) surface prepared by femtosecond laser were established. An experiment was conducted to analyze the rationality of the established complete wetting model and incomplete wetting model. It was found that the incomplete wetting prediction model of the square column structure was more in line with the actual situation. For PSCS, the length of both the long and short sides of the boss and the width of the groove exerted an impact on the contact angle prediction results. Under the condition that the length of the long and short sides of the boss remained unchanged and the groove width increased, the contact angle increased under complete wetting and incomplete wetting. In contrast, under the condition that the long side length of the boss and the groove width remained unchanged and the short side length of the boss increased, the contact angle increased under complete wetting but decreased under incomplete wetting. The maximum contact angle reached 135.65°, indicating that PSCS on PMMA surface enhanced the surface hydrophobicity of the material.

The purpose of this research is to recalculate the upper structure of the X building of Jakarta State Polytechnic uses SNI-2847-2019 regulations regarding concrete and SNI 1726- 2019regarding earthquakes. This building consists of 3 floors which use concrete as its main structure. Recalculation includes structural elements starting from collar beam, floor plates, beams, and columns, which are expected to withstand the loads who worked on it. Structural analysis was performed using the ETABS 2013 software. Especially for the calculation of the column structure, the SP Column software is used. The results were obtained from the recalculation of the PNJ x Building in the form of dimensional differences and reinforcement against the existing building. Dimension and reinforcement after redesign became more the size of the existing building. The recalculation results indicate that planning re-using SNI 1726-2019 and SNI 2847-2019 are strong to bear the working load after the dimensions and reinforcement are enlarged.
