Abstract During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), almost commercially dental chairs lack sufficient stability to perform effective manual chest compression (MCC). In our previous study, our technique that stabilizing stool can significantly reduce vertical displacement in a dental chair’s backrest. This study demonstrates that the efficacy of different methods for stabilizing 3 types of dental chair with a flat or a severely curved backrest exterior for effective MCC. Vertical displacement of the dental chair’s backrest was recorded. The data was captured with three different stool positions (no stool, under MCC, under shoulders). Reduction ratios were calculated to evaluate the effectiveness of the stool positions. In all types of dental chair, the technique significantly reduced the vertical displacements of the backrest. The reduction ratio varied nearly 40% under the area for MCC and 65% under the shoulder with a severely curved backrest exterior. With a flat shape of dental chair, these ratios were around 90% versus without a stool. The technique is a firm support and reduce the displacement of any type of dental chair’s backrest for effective MCC.

The classical Hopefield neural networks have obvious symmetry, thus the study related to its dynamic behaviors has been widely concerned. This research article is involved with the neutral-type inertial neural networks incorporating multiple delays. By making an appropriate Lyapunov functional, one novel sufficient stability criterion for the existence and global exponential stability of T-periodic solutions on the proposed system is obtained. In addition, an instructive numerical example is arranged to support the present approach. The obtained results broaden the application range of neutral-types inertial neural networks.

In this paper, we propose a sufficient stability condition for networked systems with multiple delays based on the 2-D polynomials and 2-D Hurwitz-Schur stability. The main advantage of the new stability condition is that it is applicable to the general case of networked systems with multiple, incommensurate delays yet numerically tractable. The characteristic polynomials of networked systems are mapping into 2-D hybrid polynomials, then to test the Hurwitz-Schur stability can. determine the networked systems, examples including system simulations verify the validity of the proposed test algorithms.

2-arylbenzofurans represent a small group of bioactive compounds found in the plant family Moraceae. As it has not been investigated whether these substances are stable during passage through the gastrointestinal tract, their biological effects may be altered by the metabolism of intestinal microbiota or cells. The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare mulberrofuran Y (1), moracin C (2), and mulberrofuran G (3) in an in vitro model of human intestinal bacterial fermentation and in an epithelial model using the Caco-2 cell line. The analysis of compounds by LC-MS-Q-TOF showed sufficient stability in the fermentation model, with no bacterial metabolites detected. However, great differences in the quantity of permeation were observed in the permeability assay. Moreover, mulberrofuran Y (1) and moracin C (2) were observed to be transformed into polar metabolites by conjugation. Among the test compounds, mulberrofuran Y (1) was mostly stable and accumulated in endothelial cells (85.3%) compared with mulberrofuran G (3) and moracin C (2) (14% and 8.2%, respectively). Thus, only a small amount of mulberrofuran Y (1) was conjugated. Moracin C (2) and mulberrofuran G (3) were metabolized almost completely, with only traces of the unchanged molecule being found on the apical and cellular sides of the system. Only conjugates of mulberrofuran Y (1) and moracin C (2) were able to reach the basolateral side. Our results provide the basic description of bioavailability of these three compounds, which is a necessary characteristic for final evaluation of bio-efficacy.

AbstractAnchoring miniscrews used for a tissue bone borne maxillary expander (C-expander) can fail if they contact tooth roots or perforate the maxillary sinus. Cone beam computed tomography images were reviewed retrospectively to evaluate the geometric factors of miniscrew placement in the palate that contribute to root proximity (RP) and sinus perforation (SP), and to investigate the differences of miniscrew placement depth (PD) and placement angle (PA) among the groups in each variable from 340 anchoring miniscrews on 70 patients whose C-expanders showed sufficient stability after palatal expansion for orthodontic treatment. Two types of miniscrews were used: a self-tapping miniscrew with 1.8 mm-in-diameter, and a self-drilling miniscrew with 1.6 mm-in-diameter. While the self-tapping larger diameter miniscrew influenced root proximity significantly, the screw location and PD affected the rate of sinus perforation. PA was significantly different between the right and left sides of the palate. The results of this study confirmed that root proximity and sinus perforation of anchoring miniscrews in a tissue bone borne palatal expander occurred due to certain risk factors, even when the palates were expanded successfully. Knowledge of these factors can help the clinician place miniscrews with less risk of root proximity or sinus perforation.

Metallic radionuclides conjugated to biological vectors via an appropriate chelator are employed in nuclear medicine for the diagnosis (imaging) and radiotherapy of diseases. For the application of radiolabeled antibodies using positron emission tomography (immunoPET), zirconium-89 has gained increasing interest over the last decades as its physical properties (t1/2 = 78.4 h, 22.6% β+ decay) match well with the slow pharmacokinetics of antibodies (tbiol. = days to weeks) allowing for late time point imaging. The most commonly used chelator for 89Zr in this context is desferrioxamine (DFO). However, it has been shown in preclinical studies that the hexadentate DFO ligand does not provide 89Zr-complexes of sufficient stability in vivo and unspecific uptake of the osteophilic radiometal in bones is observed. For clinical applications, this might be of concern not only because of an unnecessary dose to the patient but also an increased background signal. As a consequence, next generation chelators based on hydroxamate scaffolds for more stable coordination of 89Zr have been developed by different research groups. In this review, we describe the progress in this research field until end of 2020, including promising examples of new candidates of chelators currently in advanced stages for clinical translation that outrun the performance of the current gold standard DFO.

We model a common teller–customer interaction occurring in the Ghanaian banking sector via a Double-X queuing network consisting of three single servers with infinite-capacity buffers. The servers are assumed to face independent general renewal of customers and independent identically distributed general service times, the inter-arrival and service time distributions being different for each server. Servers, when free, help serve customers waiting in the queues of other servers. By using the fluid limit approach, we find a sufficient stability condition for the system, which involves the arrival and service rates in the form of a set of inequalities. Finally, the model is validated using an illustrative example from a Ghanaian bank.

Neutral cannabinoids are oxidatively unstable and are converted into quinone derivatives by atmospheric- and/or chemical oxidative dearomatization. The study of cannabinoquinones has long been plagued by their lability toward additional oxidative degradation, but full substitution of the quinone ring, as well as the introduction of steric hindrance on the alkyl substituent, have provided sufficient stability for a systematic investigation of their bioactivity and for further clinical development. These studies culminated in the discovery of the aminocannabinoquinone VCE-004.8 (5), a compound under phase 2 clinical development with orphan drug status by EMA and FDA for the management of scleroderma. The synthesis and rich chemistry of these compounds will be described, summarizing their biological profile and clinical potential.

New cationic carriers must be molecularly designed to enable selective RNAi and siRNA transport and administration. Because at some time, the carriers will have to be removed from the cells and perfused out of the body, sophisticated, temporarily controllable biodegradable carriers are necessary. This indicates that the degradation process must be well regulated and possibly in several steps to destroy the carrier in a controlled manner. Moreover, multifunctional cationic carriers must be molecularly designed to carry and steer two independent kinds of siRNAs delivered at two very different rates. This allows sequential treatment of some diseases. Nanosized carriers must be enhanced to provide sufficient stability for the therapeutic duration of the system. In addition, there is the recurring issue of cationic carrier toxicity to be addressed in the near future. Despite the courageous and robust field efforts, a lot of difficulties still need to be resolved.
