This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Loan (NPL) on Profitability (ROA) with Efficiency (BOPO) as an Intervening Variable, in conventional commercial banks in Indonesia listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period (2016). -2020). Sampling using the purposive sampling method with the criteria that the bank has a complete published report in 2016-2020, and the bank has a non-negative ROA. This study uses data obtained from the bank's Annual Financial Statements issued by the bank in the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Bank Published Financial Statements. The analytical technique used is a statistical test through the Ttest, Ftest, R2, Multiple Regression Test, and Sobel Test using the Sobel Test Calculator for the Significance of Mediation. The results of the analysis on the t test show that CAR has a negative and insignificant effect on ROA, NPL has a negative and insignificant effect on ROA, BOPO has a negative and significant effect on ROA. CAR has a negative and significant effect on BOPO, NPL has no significant effect on BOPO. And the results of the Sobel test showed that BOPO was able to mediate the CAR variable on ROA but was unable to mediate the effect of NPL on ROA. Keywords: CAR; NPL; ROA; BOPO

ABSTRACT A 4 mo old female intact boxer was presented because of polyuria, lethargy, and vomiting after ingestion of cholecalciferol rodenticide roughly 3 days prior. Blood work revealed an ionized hypercalcemia 2.23 mmol/L (reference range 1.04–1.33 mmol/L) on presentation. Because of financial limitations, the patient was unable to be hospitalized for standard of care. She was treated with a pamidronate infusion and discharged with medical management to include oral prednisone, furosemide, and subcutaneous fluids. The dog’s signs, body weight, and biochemical parameters were serially monitored over 3 wk as the ionized hypercalcemia resolved. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first published report documenting a successful outpatient medical protocol for potentially life-threatening hypercalcemia secondary to cholecalciferol toxicosis in a puppy.

The data mining technique used in this research is clustering with the K-Means algorithm to determine the land market zone in the KJPP Rija Husaeni and Partners assessment.

Toenail onychomycosis is a common condition that is equally challenging for podiatrists and patients. This case study documents a 26-year-old woman with bilateral total dystrophic onychomycosis of at least 5 years' duration. She had previously failed to respond to treatment with ciclopirox nail lacquer 8% and despite hiding her condition with nail polish, was suffering from embarrassment, distress and low self-esteem. At initial consult, one hundred percent of both great toenails were affected. After discussion of all treatment options, the patient opted for topical efinaconazole 10% solution, once daily for 48 weeks. Significant improvement was noted at the first (4 week) assessment period. This improvement was maintained through each subsequent virtual consult and complete cure was seen at a 30-week follow-up visit. To the author's knowledge this is the first published report on the use of efinaconazole in total dystrophic onychomycosis. It suggests that the product may be effective in patients with even the most severe and treatment recalcitrant disease, who are unwilling or unable to tolerate systemic antifungal therapy.

The human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) E7 oncoprotein plays an essential role in cervical carcinogenesis and is encoded predominantly by a viral E6*I mRNA through alternative RNA splicing of a p97 promoter-transcribed bicistronic E6E7 pre-mRNA. Recently, Zhao et al. detected the HPV16 circular RNA circE7, which is generated aberrantly through backsplicing of the E6E7 pre-mRNA from two HPV16-positive cervical cancer cell lines, CaSki and SiHa. Based on their findings that HPV16 E7 was translated from circE7 and knockdown of circE7 in CaSki cells led to reduction of E7 oncoprotein, cell proliferation, and xenograft tumor formation, the authors claimed that circE7 is functionally important in cell transformation. We believe, however, that the reported circE7 function is overstated. We found that circE7 in CaSki cells is only 0.4 copy per cell and determine that the claimed circE7 function in the published report was resulted from off-targeting viral E7 linear mRNAs by their circE7 small interfering RNAs.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> Anisakiasis is a common disease in countries such as Japan, where raw or undercooked marine fish are frequently consumed. The disease is caused by accidental ingestion of a live larva of <i>Anisakis</i> in raw or undercooked marine fish. In typical cases, it causes abrupt gastrointestinal symptoms, such as epigastric pain, nausea, and vomiting. According to a published report, the disease was alleviated by oral ingestion of an over-the-counter drug containing wood creosote. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> We performed an in vitro experiment to elucidate whether wood creosote can inhibit the motor activity of <i>Anisakis</i> larvae, using infrared locomotion tracking and agarose gel penetration techniques. <b><i>Results:</i></b> Our results clearly demonstrate that wood creosote inhibits the motor activity of <i>Anisakis</i> larvae. The concentration of wood creosote used in our experiment is similar to that found in stomach juice when a usual oral dose is taken of the medicine containing wood creosote. <b><i>Discussion/Conclusion:</i></b> Our results suggest the potential usefulness of the medicine containing wood creosote in the treatment of acute <i>Anisakis</i> infection of the gastrointestinal tract.

PurposeAn integral component in heat pipes (HPs) and vapor chambers (VCs) is a porous wicking structure. Traditional methods for manufacturing wicking structures within HPs and VCs involve secondary manufacturing processes and are generally limited to simple geometries. This work aims to leverage the unprecedented level of design freedom of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing (AM) to produce integrated wicking structures for HPs and VCs.Design/methodology/approachCopper wicking structures are fabricated through LPBF via partial sintering and via the formation of square, hexagonal and rectangular arrangements of micro-pins and micro-grooves, produced in multiple build directions. Wicks are characterized by conducting capillary performance analysis through the measurement of porosity, permeability and capillary rate-of-rise.FindingsCopper wicking structures were successfully fabricated with capillary performance, K/reff, ranging from 0.186–1.74 µm. The rectangular-arrangement micro-pin wick presented the highest performance.Originality/valueThis work represents the first published report on LPBF AM of copper wicking structures for HPs/VCs applications and represents foundational knowledge for fabricating complete assemblies of copper VCs and HPs through LPBF AM.

Background Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a potential option for the management of severe acute respiratory failure secondary to COVID-19. Conflicting the use of this therapy is the known coagulopathy within COVID-19, leading to an incidence of venous thrombotic events of 25% to 49%. To date, limited guidance is available on optimal anticoagulation strategies in this population. Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utilization of a pharmacist-driven bivalirudin dosing protocol for anticoagulation in the setting of ECMO for COVID-19–associated respiratory failure. Methods This was a single-center retrospective chart review over a 9-month period of patients receiving bivalirudin while on ECMO. All patients with acute respiratory failure requiring ECMO with a positive SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction were included. Bivalirudin was dosed via aPTT monitoring after a starting dose of 0.2 or 0.3 mg/kg/h. Results There were 33 patients included in this study, all receiving mechanical ventilation. The most common starting dose of bivalirudin was 0.2 mg/kg/h, with an average time to therapeutic range of 20 hours. Compared to previous reports, rates of bleeding were low at 15.1%, and 6.1% of patients developed a new venous thromboembolic event while on ECMO. ECMO survival was 51.5%, with an ICU mortality rate of 48.5%. Conclusion and Relevance In the first published report of its use within this population, bivalirudin was found to be a viable choice for anticoagulation in those patients on ECMO for severe respiratory failure secondary to COVID-19.

Abstract Background Anti-streptavidin antibodies are causal determinants of analytical interference during Thyroid function tests, and numerous reports have detailed such interference, with anti-streptavidin antibodies attracting attention. Case presentation We conducted a straightforward investigation of interference due to anti-streptavidin antibodies, with a case of a 60-year-old Japanese man who consulted our department for inconsistencies between his clinical course and Thyroid function tests. Experiments were conducted using Cobas8000 e602, which employs assay procedures with pre-wash to evaluate FT4 and FT3 levels. Conclusions To our knowledge, this is the first published report to clearly investigate such interferences using a combination of polyethylene glycol precipitation, heterophilic blocking tube precipitation, streptavidin-coated magnetic particle precipitation, and different instruments with or without pre-wash. Clinicians should consider that interferences caused by anti-streptavidin antibodies could lead to a misdiagnosis of thyrotoxicosis. Moreover, discussions between laboratory specialists, clinicians, and manufacturers are required to identify interferences and avoid unnecessary examinations and inappropriate treatment.

Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate whether haemotropic Mycoplasma species are detected in pet cats in Latvia, to perform a phylogenetic analysis of the detected pathogens and to report a clinical case of feline infectious anaemia. Methods Peripheral blood samples (n = 125) from pet cats were submitted; 99 samples were adequate to test for the presence of Mycoplasma species DNA by nested PCR. A clinical case was added in the later stages of the study. Positive isolates were subjected to phylogenetic analysis. Results The prevalence of ‘ Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’ was 15% (n = 15/99), that of Mycoplasma haemofelis was 5% (5/99) and that of ‘ Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis’ was 2% (n = 2/99). Cases of coinfection included ‘ Candidatus M haemominutum’ + M haemofelis (4%; n = 4/99) and ‘ Candidatus M haemominutum’ + ‘ Candidatus M turicensis’ (1%; n = 1/99). This is the first published report of M haemofelis infection in the Baltic states. Two different ‘ Candidatus M turicensis’ isolates were discovered after phylogenetic analysis. Conclusions and relevance This report is the first of an autochthonous feline infectious anaemia case in the Baltic region. The prevalence of Mycoplasma species was similar to that in other northern European countries. Phylogenetic analysis revealed variability of the isolates; one of the ‘ Candidatus M turicensis’ genotypes was detected for the first time in Europe.
