Abstract Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a neurodevelopmental disorder most commonly caused by the impaired expression of the maternal UBE3A gene on chromosome 15. Though anxiety has been identified as a frequently present characteristic in AS, there are limited studies examining anxiety in this population. Studies of anxiety in other neurodevelopmental disorders have found disorder specific symptoms of anxiety and age specific displays of anxiety symptoms. However, there is a consistent challenge in identifying anxiety in people with neurodevelopmental disorders given the lack of measurement instruments specifically designed for this population. Given the limited information about AS and anxiety, the aims of the current project were to (a) examine symptoms of anxiety in children with AS and (b) determine the correlates of anxiety in children with AS. Participants included 42 adult caregivers of youth with AS in the AS Natural History study who completed the Developmental Behavior Checklist (DBC). The results found that 26% of the sample demonstrated elevated symptoms of anxiety and established a relationship between elevated anxiety in youth with AS and higher levels of irritability, hyperactivity, self-absorbed behaviors, and disruptive/antisocial behaviors. Findings from this research provide a foundation for tailoring evidence-based assessments and treatments for youth with AS and anxiety.

This study was aimed to develop a scale to determine the problem behaviors of 3-6 aged preschool children. A systematic process was carried out during the development of the scale. A total of 305 preschool teachers filled in the scale development study. Based on the results of exploratory factor analysis (EFA), it was identified that the scale consists of 30 items and three factors, explaining 52.13% of the total variance. These factorsare named academic skills problems, peer relationship problems, and developmental-behavioral problems in accordance with the literature. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to examine whether the collected data confirmed the determining factor structure. The whole scale’s Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient was found as .94. Cronbach alpha coefficients were .91 for “academic skills problems”, .89 for “peer relationships problems”, and .83 for “developmental behavior problems”. As a result of the analysis, the scale is valid and reliable to determine the problem behaviors of preschool children.

Professionals who primarily deliver services to children on the autism spectrum employ a range of techniques and supports that are colloquially known as applied behavior analysis therapy. The landscape of evidence supporting interventions for children on the autism spectrum has vastly transformed in the last decade. A substantial, relatively high-quality literature base supports the effectiveness of Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Interventions for supporting development in children on the autism spectrum, yet few professionals serving this population receive training in this category of interventions. Board Certified Behavior Analysts and related professionals are the primary service providers for this population. The purpose of this survey study is to describe and understand the knowledge and beliefs that Behavior Analyst Certification Board certificants have around Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Interventions, and the implications for training the professionals most likely to serve young children on the autism spectrum. A total of 901 respondents completed the survey. Respondents indicated, on average, little to no knowledge of Naturalistic Developmental Behavior Intervention practices and that few believe these practices to be effective or appropriate for the field. We discuss the implications and needs for future training and research in this area. The most common behavioral addictions in adolescents are Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD), and Problematic Social Networks Use (PSNU). In the present study, we investigated whether thought suppression and impulsiveness mediate the relationship between metacognitions and these three behavioral addictions (IGD, CSBD and PSNU). In Study 1 (n = 471), we examined whether online gaming thought suppression and impulsiveness mediate the relationship between metacognitions and IGD. In Study 2 (n = 453), we examined whether sex thought suppression and impulsiveness mediate the relationship between metacognitions and CSBD. In Study 3 (n = 1004), we examined whether social media thought suppression and impulsiveness mediate the relationship between metacognitions and PSNU. Results of path analysis indicated, across the three studies, the importance of both thought suppression and impulsiveness as mediators between metacognitions and the three behavioral addictions (IGD, CSBD and PSNU) being investigated. These findings provide an opportunity for therapists as well as educators to gain a better insight into the link between metacognitions, thought suppression, impulsiveness, and behavioral addictions as part of developmental behavior among adolescents.

Summary We assessed the clinical utility of the parent-reported Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) as a screen for emotional and behavioural difficulties in 626 children and young people with intellectual disability. Using the Developmental Behavior Checklist (DBC2-P) to determine clinical caseness, the area under the curve for the SDQ total difficulties score was 0.876 (95% CI 0.841–0.911), indicating that it is a good measure for identifying significant emotional and behavioural difficulties requiring further investigation. Analyses supported the use of the same SDQ cut-off for those with and without intellectual disability, which may assist with consistent and comparable assessment in clinical practice.

Introduction: Failure and recurrence in breast cancer treatment cause a great obstacle in cancer therapy and identification of cell population named cancer stem cells (CSCs) in the tumor can be led us to define it as target in novel therapeutic strategy. Objectives: The aim of this study is the finding of correlation between stemness and metastatic characteristic, also knowing CSCs as a potential target of therapy because of its developmental behavior and similarities with normal stem cells. Materials and Methods: Here, we focus on the expression of NANOG in breast CSCs, a key molecule in the physiological process of stem cells and the Let-7a that is involved in the differentiation of the cells. Results: In this work, we found that NANOG was highly expressed in SKBR3 and down-regulation of let-7a, as a differentiation miRNA, was found in MDA-MB-468 cells. Conclusion: It will be critical for the developing of effective anti-tumor drugs, utilizing mentioned concepts. Inhibition of NANOG in combination with Let-7a up-regulation can help to decrease the stemness and increase the differentiation of CSCs. The decrease of stemness and increase of differentiation initiate the apoptotic process. So, modification in the mechanism of apoptosis beside anti-cancer drugs provide a good preclinical study goal. However, in order to these drugs become clinical, the problems of their side effects and toxicity must be solved. Differentiation of CSCs provides an optimal condition to activity of immune cells which never let them escape from immune cells by alteration of immunogenicity.
