With the rapid development of smart mobile devices, mobile applications are becoming more and more popular. Since mobile devices usually have constrained computing capacity, computation offloading to mobile edge computing (MEC) to achieve a lower latency is a promising paradigm. In this paper, we focus on the optimal offloading problem for streaming applications in MEC. We present solutions to find offloading policies of streaming applications to achieve an optimal latency. Streaming applications are modeled with synchronous data flow graphs. Two architecture assumptions are considered — with sufficient processors on both the local device and the MEC server, and with a limited number of processors on both sides. The problem is generally NP-complete. We present an exact algorithm and a heuristic algorithm for the former architecture assumption and a heuristic method for the latter. We carry out our experiments on a practical application and thousands of synthetic graphs to comprehensively evaluate our methods. The experimental results show that our methods are effective and computationally efficient.

Video streaming services are one of the most resource-consuming applications on the Internet. Thus, minimizing the consumed resources at runtime in general and the server/network bandwidth in particular are still challenging for researchers. Currently, most streaming techniques used on the Internet open one stream per client request, which makes the consumed bandwidth increases linearly. Hence, many broadcasting/streaming protocols have been proposed in the literature to minimize the streaming bandwidth. These protocols can be divided into two main categories, namely, reactive and proactive broadcasting protocols. While the first category is recommended for streaming unpopular videos, the second category is recommended for streaming popular videos. In this context, in this paper we propose an enhanced version of the reactive protocol Slotted Stream Tapping (SST) called Share All SST (SASST), which we prove to further reduce the streaming bandwidth with regard to SST. We also propose a new proactive protocol named the New Optimal Proactive Protocol (NOPP) based on an optimal scheduling of video segments on streaming-channel. SASST and NOPP are to be used in cloud and CDN (content delivery network) networks where the IP multicast or multicast HTTP on QUIC could be enabled, as their key principle is to allow the sharing of ongoing streams among clients requesting the same video content. Thus, clients and servers are often services running on virtual machines or in containers belonging to the same cloud or CDN infrastructure.

Technology is developing very fast and is increasingly global, various kinds of the latest technological discoveries and various kinds of applications offered by each company will continue to compete, one of which is the Korean drama streaming application program. However, it is not just one Korean drama streaming application, but many other streaming applications that have sprung up and can make users hesitate to choose a streaming application to watch quality Korean dramas. Selection of useful criteria for selecting Korean drama streaming applications using the Analytical Hierarchy Process approach and processing using Expert Choice software allows streaming application users to know how to choose a streaming application to watch Korean dramas as desired. The population of this study were several Bekasi city people with approximately 30 questionnaires. From the research results, it was found that VIU was a strategic alternative for selecting Korean drama streaming applications using the Analytical Hierarchy Process which received top priority with a weight of 0.499 or comparable to 49.9% of another alternative.   Keywords: Streaming application, Korean Drama, Analytical Hierarchy Process
