The results are presented for investigation of electrical conductivity of nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) films with thickness of 0.5-0.6 microns grown on silicon Si(100) substrate by CVD method using methane-hydrogen and methane-hydrogen-oxygen mixtures. By method of heating in vacuum with use of hydrogen analyzer AB-1 the concentration of hydrogen in the studied films was determined and the relationship between the content of hydrogen in the NCD film and its conductivity was estimated. It was shown that high-temperature processing in vacuum at temperature 6000 C leads to desorbtion of hydrogen from the films and a significant increase in their resistance.

Abstract To improve and specify the method proposed by the authors for high-temperature processing of reactor graphite in a nitrogen atmosphere, the thermodynamic data of the formed nitride compounds are supplemented and the system is calculated at a vacuum pressure of 0.5 atm. The data obtained are compared with the values at atmospheric pressure.

Staphylococcal food poisoning (SFP), caused by the contamination of staphylococcal enterotoxins, is a common foodborne disease worldwide. The aims of this study were: (1) to investigate classical staphylococcal enterotoxin genes, sea, seb, sec, sed, and see, among Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CNS) associated with bovine mastitis; (2) to determine the effect of temperature on the expression of classical staphylococcal enterotoxin genes in staphylococci in milk. The detection of classical staphylococcal enterotoxin genes was performed using S. aureus (n = 51) and CNS (n = 47). The expression of classical enterotoxin genes, including sea, seb, sec, and see, was determined during the growth of staphylococci in milk subjected to ultra-high-temperature processing at two different temperatures: 8 °C and room temperature. Classical staphylococcal enterotoxin genes were expressed more frequently in S. aureus (35.30%) than in CNS (12.77%). The sec gene was most frequently detected in S. aureus (29.41%) and CNS (6.38%). Moreover, the expression of sea and sec was significantly higher at room temperature than at 8 °C after 16 h of incubation (p < 0.05). These results emphasize the importance of maintaining the storage temperature of milk below 8 °C to reduce the risk of SFP.

Bio-based composites made of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and β-cyclodextrin/d-limonene inclusion complex (CD-Lim) were prepared by melt extrusion. Encapsulation of volatile d-limonene molecules within β-cyclodextrin cages was proven to be a successful strategy to prevent evaporation during high-temperature processing. However, small amounts of limonene were released upon processing, resulting in the plasticization of the polymeric matrix. Morphological analysis revealed good dispersion of the filler, which acted as a nucleating agent, favoring the growth of PLLA crystals. The composites′ lowered glass transition temperature upon the addition of CD-Lim was also proved by thermomechanical analysis (DMA). Moreover, DMA revealed constant stiffness of modified materials at room temperature, which is crucial in PLLA-based formulations.
