Providing challenging and engaging learning opportunities is one way to motivate students to learn. In this article, we discuss the contributions of the gifted education field to the development of enrichment pedagogy and identify several different types of these engaging instructional strategies, including interest-based learning pedagogy, differentiation and curriculum compacting, project-based learning, open-ended choice, and the application of creative productivity to students learning. We identify this specialized pedagogy and give examples of how these exciting pedagogical strategies can be implemented in classrooms and by enrichment specialists and school counselors, both for academically talented and for all students. We conclude with a brief overview of research that demonstrates longitudinal benefits for students who are exposed to this type of teaching, suggesting positive outcomes.

This study analyzes two poems written by Rukun Nasution (1928-1998), namely Syair Pengajak Solat (Invitation to Prayer) and Doa/Syair Menjelang Pajar (Invocation/Poem before Dawn). This manuscript only came to the attention of the authors in 2018, and this is the first time the book of poetry is being studied and described. The main objective of this study is to analyze the content of the poems, with reference to their socio-religious relevance and some philological aspects. Rukun (the popular name of Rukun Nasution) wrote his poems in the 1960s using Latin script, and the fact he had no formal education other than a three-year of elementary school made his creative productivity more interesting. He presented his ideas in a well-structured text while applying the 'aa-aa' rhyme consistently. The poems contain Islamic messages, with prayer procedures being the most dominant theme. These poems are relevant to document religious information, disseminate Islamic teachings, while remains artistically creative.

A major controversy facing the field of gifted education is the underrepresentation of low income, minority, and dual language students. Strategies for addressing this challenge have been to use universal screening and local norms; however, these useful recommendations continue to focus on traditional testing procedures that measure what students already know and overlook other important traits that contribute to high levels of creative productivity. Assessment for learning examines traits such as interests, instructional preference styles, preferred modes of expression, and executive function skills. Although sometimes referred as the “soft skills,” they have gained much more attention on the parts of college admission officers and employers, especially for higher level leadership positions. Instruments that assess these traits are often completed by the students themselves; and technology and artificial intelligence now allow us to administer and analyze them with the same ease used for traditional standardized tests.

Creative, motivated, and high-achieving students are found in every college and university, but not all of these students participate in honors programs which might support their talent development. This comparative case study investigated the perceptions of 10 participants who completed university-level “Type III experiences.” It extends the sparse research on enrichment and gifted education pedagogy in undergraduate students, framed on Renzulli’s Four-Part Theoretical Model for Gifted Education in the 21st Century. Interviews explored students’ perceptions of the experience and effects on their executive functions and future plans. Using Strauss and Corbin’s technique of open, axial, and selective coding, one overarching theme of this study emerged: support provided for creative productivity led to autonomy and enabled students to complete advanced and creative projects.

The proposed article analyzes the types of personality and scientific-professional orientation of higher education institutions teachers, characterized by a high level of competence and creative productivity. The relevance of this study stems from the fact that teachers’ scientific and pedagogical activities are connected with their creative developmentandprofessionalself-improvement. Therefore, theobjectives of thearticle are tostudythepersonality and psychological characteristics of the relevant cohort of high school teachers, the leading types of personality orientationandscientificandpedagogicalactivitiesoftheseteachers. Inaddition, animportanttaskofourresearch is to analyze the relevant types in the context of systems research, which allows to deepen the understanding of this scientific problem. With the help of Yu.A. Urmantsev’s general systems theory the systematic correlation of the main categories of pedagogy in the context of the scientific orientation of the teacher is clarified. It is shown that the personality-oriented, subjective orientation of the teacher is realized in the context of the interaction of epistemological and axiological ways of mastering the world by man and humanity. Acmeological orientation is realized in the system-functional plane of interaction of epistemology and praxeology. Creative innovation orientation is realized in the focus of combination of axiological and praxeological ways of mastering the world by a man.
