Till present times nutritiology and dietology in dental practice are at rudimentary level. At the same time it is a well-known fact the chewing efficiency is much higher in case of having fixed prosthesis comparing with their removable denture counterpart. As for elderly population nourishment it is important to take into consideration the complexity of receiving of all the necessary nutrients. Quantity and quality of the food diet will directly affect their quality of life. Aim. Development of the functional food diet ration for specific groups of dental patients Materials and Methods. We surveyed 244 patients (84 males, 160 females) in the age range from 60 to 85 years (mean value 75.4+/-2.4) with different types of implant supported prostheses. We used clinical, sociological, nutritiological evaluation methods. Besides that we used GOHAI questionnaire and modified Wolfart questionnaire. Results. We defined basic groups of dental patients who have indications for prescribing functional food diet: a) patients utilizing removable dentures, especially full dentures, in the situation where antagonists would be intact dentition or dental arches with conventional or implant supported fixed bridges; b) patients treated with immediate removable dentures, fixed implant supported prostheses, especially in case of big span bridges with limited amount of fixtures; c) patients using removable implant supported overdentures; d) Patients older than 70 years of age. We established food rations based on intaking soft low viscosity liquid meal. High GOHAI scores (56.1+/-1.49) were the prove of the high efficiency and efficacy of the rehabilitation per se and also of the functional diet regimen recommended to the examined patients. Conclusions. We developed functional food diet taking into consideration the short and long term period after finishing the implant supported or conventional, immediate or delayed prosthetic rehabilitation with the use of total prosthesis predominately for edentulous patients. Incorporation of these types of diet regimen in the rehabilitation plan oriented towards increasing the efficiency of the main treatment arrangements.

Cellular senescence is a cell program induced by various stresses that leads to a stable proliferation arrest and to a senescence-associated secretory phenotype. Accumulation of senescent cells during age-related diseases participates in these pathologies and regulates healthy lifespan. Recent evidences point out a global dysregulated intracellular metabolism associated to senescence phenotype. Nonetheless, the functional contribution of metabolic homeostasis in regulating senescence is barely understood. In this work, we describe how the mevalonate pathway, an anabolic pathway leading to the endogenous biosynthesis of poly-isoprenoids, such as cholesterol, acts as a positive regulator of cellular senescence in normal human cells. Mechanistically, this mevalonate-induced senescence is partly mediated by the downstream cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. This pathway promotes transcriptional activity of ERRα leading to dysfunctional mitochondria, ROS production, DNA damage and a p53-dependent senescence. Supporting the relevance of these observations, increase of senescence in liver due to a high-fat diet regimen is abrogated in ERRα knockout mouse. Overall, this work unravels the role of cholesterol biosynthesis in the induction of an ERRα-dependent mitochondrial program leading to cellular senescence and related pathological alterations.

Immunization has been one of the biggest success stories of modern medicine. The WHO estimates that at least 10 million deaths were prevented between 2010 and 2015.Ayurveda upholds the unique principles of strengthening innate resistance of an individual in prevention and cure of diseases which is inculcated from the time of conception. The bala or vyadhikshamatva is the functional aspect of ojus.Vyadhi utpadak pratibandhakatva and Vyadhibala virodhitva which are the two aspects of vyadhikshamatva are determined and controlled by the state of Ojus. The immunomodulation is done through the medium of medicines at proper age, dose and state of body along with proper  diet, regimen and state of mind.     The study explores the immuno modulation strategies in children through a literature survey through the Brhat trayee and kaumarabhritya  classics  like Kashyapa samhitha,Arogya kalpadruma  along with relevant online articles..”Prakara yoga” will be elaborated for its immunomodulatory action. An experience survey among ayurveda experts for the use of methodologies for use and practicality of these strategies also is included. Abstract Background Obesity is one of the most common nutritional disorders in the world. Increased appetite is one of the main causes of obesity. Objective The aim of this study was to determine the effect of lactoferrin on weight loss and appetite in obese school age children. Subjects & Methods This was a double arm prospective clinical trial which done on 50 obese children with an age range of 6-12 years. The children were recruited from Pediatric Nutrition Clinic of Ain Shams University. The children were equally divided into two groups; one group received 200 mg of oral lactoferrin for 12 weeks in addition to diet regimen and exercise. The other group did not receive lactoferrin but was only on exercise and diet regimen. Anthropometric measurements, body composition, dietetic history and appetite assessment using Child Eating Behavioral Questionnaire (CEBQ) were done for both groups before and after intervention. Results The results of our study revealed decrease in anthropometric measurements, serum leptin and Child Eating Behavioral Questionnaire (CEBQ) after lactoferrin supplementation. However, our study revealed only statistical significant decrease in CEBQ score after lactoferrin supplementation. Conclusion Despite decreasing weight, lactoferrin intake had no impact on weight loss when compared to patients who did not take lactoferrin. Lactoferrin intake decreased appetite in school aged obese children.

Breakfast skipping increases with age, and an association with a high risk of being overweight (OW) and of obesity (OB), cardiometabolic risk, and unhealthy diet regimen has been demonstrated in observational studies with children and adults. Short-term intervention trials in adults reported conflicting results. The purpose of this systematic review was to summarize the association of breakfast skipping with body weight, metabolic features, and nutrition quality in the groups of young people that underwent randomized controlled (RCT) or intervention longitudinal trials lasting more than two months. We searched relevant databases (2000–2021) and identified 584 articles, of which 16 were suitable for inclusion. Overall, 50,066 children and adolescents were included. No studies analyzed cardiometabolic features. Interventions were efficacious in reducing breakfast skipping prevalence when multi-level approaches were used. Two longitudinal studies reported a high prevalence of OW/OB in breakfast skippers, whereas RCTs had negligible effects. Ten studies reported a lower-quality dietary intake in breakfast skippers. This review provides insight into the fact that breakfast skipping is a modifiable marker of the risk of OW/OB and unhealthy nutritional habits in children and adolescents. Further long-term multi-level intervention studies are needed to investigate the relationship between breakfast, nutrition quality, chronotypes, and cardiometabolic risk in youths.

Hypertension has arisen as a significant general medical issue around the world. Hypertension is the main danger factor for chronic disease trouble in India. Survey studies from different parts of India have announced a high predominance of hypertension. Former studies have suggested that metropolitan- rural intermingling of hypertension in India is because of the quick urbanization of country populaces with ensuing changes in lifestyles (inactivity, high dietary salt, sugar, and excess fat in diet regimen) and an expansion in overweight and stoutness. Here, we documented a survey report on the prevalence of hypertension. We used gender and pre-existing body ailment as an indicator for this observational study. The study was carried out for 1 month (1st to 31st of January 2021) with a sample size of n= 450. Data were collected by reviewing the patient’s medical records. Depending on gender and co-morbidity, patients were categorized into two groups. We found a greater prevalence of hypertension in men (67%) than women (33%). We recorded an increasing trend in the prevalence of hypertension associated with preexisting disease in males (83%) and females (73%). Good quality long-term studies will help to understand hypertension in all aspects; furthermore, it would help in its avoidance, screening, and control. Lastly, we would state that effective prevention and management programs should be broadly executed in India, particularly in developing urban cities.

In India, 1 out of 10 couples suffers from infertility are owing to impaired spermatozoa production or its function, impaired sperm delivery, improper ejaculation, due to sedentary life styles and day to day stress nowadays. Male infertility can be defined as an inability to induce conception, due to defect in spermatozoic functions like low sperm count, unhealthy sperm production, low sperm motility and altered delivery of sperms due to altered physiology of male reproductive system. A 29-year-old married man was diagnosed with oligospermia, visited Shuddhi Ayurveda Clinics, Noida for his condition management and treated successfully with Ayurvedic drugs. This married couple was facing infertility issue from last 2-3 years. Patient was treated with Ayurvedic drugs and kept on strict diet monitoring for four months and results were counted in terms of improved total sperm count after treatment. Before treatment sperm count was 10 million per ml which got improved up to 90 million per ml after four months of Ayurvedic treatment with strict diet regimen. No any side effects were observed during the treatment period. Other morphological parameters of sperm were also found to be healthy and normal for fertility. From the results of this case report, Ayurvedic treatment is proved to be effective in the treatment of male infertility associated with oligospermia.
