Pharmacology, the science of drug action, has helped to elucidate many basic physiological and pathological mechanisms in health and disease. Various animal experimental models have been designed to study the effect of drugs on living organisms and isolated tissues. These give an insight about where and how a drug acts, the mode of action of a drug, its effect on various body systems and probable adverse effects before administration of a drug. Therefore, the object of pharmacology is to provide such scientific data in animals as well as humans, which forms the basis of rational therapeutics. The  Jalamahabhuta is fundamental base of origin for kapha  dosha and mootra. These are supposed to have Asray-Asrayi Sambandha . It means these are directly proportional to each other. So by using the drug which is having the mootrala property Kapha may be controlled. Here an effort is made to prove this concept with modern parameters like immunomodulation, anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic activity.

Background- Desha Pariksha (examination) has been mentioned in the Charaka Samhita (cha.vi.8/84) which is considered as the oldest and the most authentic treatise of Ayurveda. Ayurveda has described three types of Desha viz. Jangl , Anup and Sadharan. Desha also known as Bhumi refers to the natural  inhabitant of an individual. Desha is one of the factors which have to be assessed in ascertaining the Hetu (etiological factors) and also in deciding the treatment. Climate, diseases, food, treatment and so many factors may vary according to desh (habitat). An attempt has been made to critically analyse the konkan region of the state Maharashtra considering present climate conditions and geography in comparison to the concept of Ayurvedic desha description.  Methods- Authentic government web portals of this region have been visited to know the present climatic situations. Various research papers were also reviewed to discern the territory from other parts of the state.  Conclusion- After scrutinizing the facts over the past few years; it has been found that most of the regions of konkan fall under excess rainfall terrain. Flora and fauna is similar to that of wetland. The Konkan region of the Maharashtra State can be compared with Anup desha in Ayurveda.

In Ayurvedic science, diagnosis of the disease is done with help of Nidan Panchakaaa. In five-fold examination, Purvarupa is one of the component parts of Nidan Panchaka. Purvarupa means Prodromal features of diseases. Any disease does not appear suddenly. Time taken between etiological factors intake to the appearance of specific disease is of Purvarupa. They are premonitory features that manifest before the actual emergence of disease. These symptoms could be doshik or adoshik. Purvarupa are of two types, general and specific. Careful understanding of Purvarupa helps in the differential diagnosis of diseases. Purvarupa also helps to  determine the prognosis of any disease. The appearance of all Purvarupa of any disease is considered a bad prognosis because it means the disease is incurable. At Purvarupa stage, treatment modalities for any disease are simpler or easier. So the knowledge of Purvarupa is essential. In samhitas the Purvarupa (Prodromal features )of Prameha vyadhi is described very well. As the  Prameha vyadhi is asadhya in its chronic stage as well as it may cause many serious complications if it is not treated and controlled in the early stage, it is very important to know the disease in very primary stage. This is possible by detecting the prameha Purvarupas in patient earlier. So that we can diagnose this stage and can prevent developing it further in vyaktavastha. So in this review study, an attempt is made to elaborate on the importance of Purvarupas and to compile the Purvarupas of Prameha from all ayurvedic samhitas.

Acharya Sushruta had a complete knowledge of Vranashopha and described Vranashopha into 3 progressive stages. Inflammation in Ayurveda is known by different names in different contexts namely Shotha, Shopha, Svayatu and Utsedha. Inflammation is duly recognised in Ayurveda as a pathological manifestation, while Modern Medicine considers Inflammation as a symptom or rather as a healing response of the body. Ayurveda treats the concepts of Inflammation as symptom of a disease, an independent disease and complication of disease. Vranashopha shares  common pathological features of Inflammation. The disturbances in micro channel circulation in Inflammation are due to Srotodusti (clogging of channels) by Amma (toxic waste of metabolism). The proper clinical approch to Vranashopha with Modern concept plays a important role in management and preventing complication of Vranashopha.
