This article presents the results of an investigation carried out in the Yagul city housing unit in the state of Oaxaca, in order to study the deterioration problems that have caused the abandonment of the houses, and in this context, to propose strategies that solve these problems in addition to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants. For this investigation, non-destructive tests were carried out on the houses of the place, such as: Concrete compression resistance test using a digital sclerometer, temperature tests with a thermographic camera and infrared digital thermometer, detection of reinforcements using a portable Pachometer and soil mechanics. The results obtained have allowed us to know the current state of the houses and based on these data, make an architectural proposal for the rehabilitation and improvement of said houses, generating a bioclimatic environment and comfort for its inhabitants.

Abstract: Kampung alley is a street network that perceived as a social space due to its function for community. One problematic thing that occur in tourism kampung alley is a significant change from activities taken place in the alley that have commercial-tourism functions and open for public. This change leads to the requirement of kampung alley to have high accessibility and openness to outsider. In this term, it will change the territoriality pattern as well as its meaning for residents. Territoriality is one kind of environmental behavior study about spatial usage of built environment. Territoriality has strong engagement with cultural and social context. This paper analyze that there are some changes and ambiguity of territoriality in the context of tourism kampung. Some personal and private activities have occur in the alley that are considered as a public space. This additional personal space is due to the lack of housing unit space. Strong bind of neighborhood connection is also taking a role so the residents can freely use alley for their personal need.

Abstract The Aging in the Right Place (AIRP) project is a multi-year, multi-city partnership grant on aging, housing insecurity and homelessness. This paper presents findings from provider/staff interviews (N=5) at a Temporary Housing Program (THP) serving older people experiencing (or at risk of) homelessness (OPEH) in Vancouver, Canada. The researchers sought to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the program, scale-up (i.e., policies) and/or scale out impacts (i.e., on people and communities), as well as how the program promotes housing security and stability for OPEH. Narrative data reveals the program provided housing stability to OPEH by offering increased access to resources (food, pharmaceutical, transportation, social support and engagement). Additionally, through the promotion of client autonomy, privacy and security in their housing unit, the organization and staff work to support and foster AIRP among their clients and help to transform a temporary housing space into a secure home-type setting.

The paper focuses on the author's method of assessing pedestrian and transport mobility of residents of modern multi-storey buildings and complexes. The study of transport routes in cities is the subject matter of entire scientific and design institutes, therefore, the method has been designed to make architects, researchers, developers and urban planners aware of a housing unit in terms of its accessibility, as well as to assess its impact on the city.

Geographic location naturally generates spatial patterns that are either clustered, dispersed, or random. Moreover, Tobler’s First Law of Geography is essentially a testable assumption in the concept where geographic location matters and one method for quantifying Tobler’s law of geography is through measures of spatial autocorrelation. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify the spatial patterns of housing distribution in Johor Bahru through the spatial autocorrelation method. The result of the global spatial autocorrelation analysis demonstrates a high degree of clustering within the housing distribution, as well as the identification of a clustered pattern with a highly positive Moran’s I value of 0.995207. Following that, the LISA cluster map successfully identified individual clusters of each housing unit with their neighbours through the red and blue colours displayed on the map, as well as revealing home buyers’ preferences for a property in each location.

Objective: The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has greatly endangered public health and life safety, leading to new changes in people's housing needs. The purpose of this study is to establish design strategies that are suitable for China's Multi-Unit Residential Buildings (MURBs) in the post-pandemic era, and to identify the users' preferences for these strategies. Methods: This study compiles a set of design requirements by means of a literature review and expert interviews. Three hundred ninety-five online and on-site questionnaires, based on the refined Kano model, were distributed to respondents to reveal their preferences for these strategies. The relationship between the different demographic variables, the preferences of design strategies, as well as the housing unit preferences of home-buyers were also verified by means of an actual project. Results: This study summarizes the four dimensions and 26 design strategies of MURBs in China during the post-pandemic era. These strategies are further extracted into 6 highly attractive, 5 high-value-added and 4 critical quality attributes. In terms of demographic variables, males need more social space, and the elderly need less office space and separate bathrooms in the master bedroom. Due to the impact of the epidemic, people with higher education levels are more required to work at home, and the overall demand for a home working environment is also higher. Conclusion: The home-buyers' preference survey reveals that the housing unit designed based on the refined Kano model is more attractive to home-buyers. The proposed approach can help to provide important and customized decisions to design firms, housing developers, and the government for MURBs planning and strategy formulation in the post-pandemic era in China. More in-depth user surveys in other regions and investigations into the cost assessment of these strategies might be further conducted in the future.
