Smartphone technology can be applied not only to establish communication needs but also to support other purposes. One of them is related to personal safety and security functions. It is undeniable that criminal acts can occur anytime and anywhere. Even in a private or residential area, theft could happen. Smartphone and sensor technology can be used as a solution to encounter this problem. In this case, it can be utilized to improve the security control system of the gate or garage door at home. This research presents a prototype of a gate and garage door control and security system that operates through an application on an android smartphone. The application of HC-05 Bluetooth is used to send signals from the smartphone to the Arduino Uno microcontroller, while the micro servo acts as a locking mechanism on the gate itself. The buzzer function is presented to notify homeowners when the gate or garage door is open for more than 15 seconds. This prototype can control gates and garage doors with an average connection time of only about 5 seconds. Thus, this prototype is feasible to use as an alternative to control and improve housing security systems.

A substantial share of college students experience housing insecurity and too many students leave higher education before earning a credential. Both of these experiences are more common among students from low-income families who often lack adequate resources. While prior conceptual and qualitative investigations suggest that housing insecurity is associated with poorer student outcomes, this relationship has not been tested due to quantitative data limitations. In this paper, I use data from a state-wide longitudinal study of students from low-income families to conduct the first empirical test of the relationship between housing insecurity early in college and later college achievement and attainment. Findings show that housing insecurity is a statistically significant predictor of academic success, net of background factors. Specifically, housing insecurity is associated with an 8 to 12 percentage-point reduction in the probability of later degree attainment or enrollment. In the short-term, housing insecurity is also associated with lower mean GPA, a lower probability of obtaining at least a 2.0 GPA, and a higher probability of enrolling part-time rather than full-time, indicating that housing insecurity affects students’ college academic experiences in multiple ways. Efforts to promote college attainment should be expanded to consider students’ housing security. There are likely several points in time and multiple ways that higher education institutions, nonprofit agencies, and policymakers can intervene to promote secure housing and college success.

Abstract Emerging research has highlighted the significance of aging in the right place (AIRP) by recognizing that secure and optimal housing should support an individual’s unique vulnerabilities and lifestyles. Existing literature, however, has yet to consider what it means for older people experiencing homelessness and/or housing insecurity to age-in-the-right-place. In order to address this knowledge gap, a review of person-environment fit models for older people and other relevant literature was conducted to determine critical identifiers of AIRP for housing insecure older people. Findings from this literature review were then refined in collaboration with interdisciplinary scholars and community partners to establish a conceptual framework. This paper presents the resulting conceptual framework and outlines the key indicators of AIRP relevant to housing insecure older people. The proposed framework provides a practical and meaningful contribution to the literature which can be used to promote housing security among individuals often excluded from existing aging-in-place models.

Abstract The Aging in the Right Place (AIRP) project is a multi-year, multi-city partnership grant on aging, housing insecurity and homelessness. This paper presents findings from provider/staff interviews (N=5) at a Temporary Housing Program (THP) serving older people experiencing (or at risk of) homelessness (OPEH) in Vancouver, Canada. The researchers sought to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the program, scale-up (i.e., policies) and/or scale out impacts (i.e., on people and communities), as well as how the program promotes housing security and stability for OPEH. Narrative data reveals the program provided housing stability to OPEH by offering increased access to resources (food, pharmaceutical, transportation, social support and engagement). Additionally, through the promotion of client autonomy, privacy and security in their housing unit, the organization and staff work to support and foster AIRP among their clients and help to transform a temporary housing space into a secure home-type setting.

Abstract The high number of fatalities and damage to buildings in the areas most affected by the earthquake should affect how to build houses. Especially in the case of self-housing, the community’s trauma will immediately encourage them to increase the safety of their buildings. However, early studies do not confirm so. Although it looks pretty built concerning the earthquake, the number of self-help houses found in post-disaster construction shows that concern for structural safety is still below expectations. This paper examines how safety precautions affect the way people build their homes. We discussed current housing developments geared towards earthquake vulnerability in Indonesia and found that housing security, in general, is still far from expectations. Learning from many post-disaster cases informs us that we must take radical and massive action regarding housing schemes and building structures to reduce the toll caused by destructed weak houses under every hit of an earthquake.

Machine learning enables machines to learn rules from a large amount of data input from the outside world through algorithms, so as to identify and judge. It is the main task of the government to further emphasize the importance of improving the housing security mechanism, expand the proportion of affordable housing, increase financial investment, improve the construction quality of affordable housing, and ensure fair distribution. It can be seen that the legal system of housing security is essentially a system to solve the social problems brought by housing marketization, and it is an important part of the whole national housing system. More and more attention has been paid to solving the housing difficulties of low- and middle-income people and establishing a housing security legal system suitable for China’s national conditions and development stage. Aiming at the deep learning problem, a text matching algorithm suitable for the field of housing law and policy is proposed. Classifier based on matching algorithm is a promising classification technology. The research on the legal system of housing security is in the exploratory stage, involving various theoretical and practical research studies. Compare the improved depth learning algorithm with the general algorithm, so as to clearly understand the advantages and disadvantages of the improved depth learning algorithm and depth learning algorithm. This paper introduces the practical application of the deep learning model and fast learning algorithm in detail. Creatively put forward to transform it into an independent public law basis or into an independent savings system.

Local wisdom in some areas such as Aceh and West Sumatra can reduce the rate of increase in the number of people exposed by Covid-19, in this case, the local government involves the role of religious leaders and regional heads in providing firm policies so that the implementation of basic services can go well while still using the health protocol. Basic services such as education, health, public works, housing, security and order, and social affairs must continue even during the pandemic so that each region is required to have the right policies. Some regions apply the PSBB policy in order to reduce the spread of Covid-19, but even basic services in some regions experience limitations in the number of services, scope, frequency, duration, and time of service. Local Wisdom values and potential regional characteristics really need to be developed in order to provide basic services that are friendly to Covid-19. Collaboration and synergy between the central and regional governments as well as between the government and stakeholders related to basic services in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic also need to be optimized. Regions that have high covid rates, such as DKI Jakarta, East Java, and Central Java are expected to have innovative policy breakthroughs in providing basic services that are friendly to Covid-19

In the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Bay Area), the allocation methods of public rental housing are analyzed to achieve scientific and fair housing allocation as much as possible, so as to protect the housing demand of low-income and middle-income families. The housing model in the Bay Area is analyzed firstly, and the key points of public rental housing and allocation management models are discussed comprehensively. Furthermore, a method based on rough-based fuzzy clustering (RFC) is proposed to analyze the housing demands of security groups, and a public housing allocation model is constructed based on actual demand of residents. The housing allocation plan is given and decided by the decision-making department based on the demand of the security objects and the characteristics of public housing. The simulation experiments are performed on the clustering algorithm optimized based on rough set feature selection. On the Chess data set, the optimized clustering algorithm shows an obvious improvement in clustering accuracy and recall rate compared with the traditional clustering algorithms, which are 0.76 and 0.95, respectively. The bilateral matching method based on fuzzy axiom design can fully consider the actual needs of both the supply and demand of the housing security, which is beneficial to improve the rationality and correctness of public housing allocation. The allocation method of public housing based on demand clustering analysis focuses on improving the housing security level and strives to meet the higher-level housing improvement needs of housing security objects, so as to provide security objects with more expected living conditions and improve housing allocation effect.

This article discusses the issue of bringing the indicator «Housing Affordability Ratio» to an indicator that would reflect the number of years required to buy a home. A statistical analysis is carried out on the modifications of the indicator «Housing affordability coefficient», on the demand for mortgage loans in the regional context. The analysis of the demand for mortgage loans, as well as the level of housing security of the population in the regional context, is carried out. The relationship between the mortgage rate and the level of housing prices is analyzed. An assessment of the impact of the policy to reduce the interest rate on mortgage loans on the level of housing prices is given. The following problems of housing security in the Russian Federation are identified: regional disparities in housing security, the growth of investment demand for housing in the context of macroeconomic instability as a factor of slowing down the growth of housing security, threats to the implementation of targeted measures to support the provision of housing for the population. Possible ways to increase housing affordability are analyzed.
