Aiming at synthesis of dense 1,2,3-triazole polymers soluble in common organic solvents, a new 3-azido-1-propyne derivative, i.e., t-butyl 4-azido-5-hexynoate (tBuAH), was synthesized and polymerized by copper(I)-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) and Huisgen cycloaddition (HC). CuAAC polymerization produced poly(tBuAH) composed of 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole units (1,4-units), whereas HC polymerization gave poly(tBuAH) composed of 1,4- and 1,5-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazole units (1,4- and 1,5-units). In HC polymerization, the fraction of 1,4-unit (f1,4) decreased with the permittivity of solvent used. Differential scanning calorimetry data indicated that the melting point of poly(tBuAH) increased from 61 to 89 °C with increasing f1,4 from 0.38 to 1.0, indicative of higher crystallinity of poly(tBuAH) composed of 1,4-unit. Preliminary steady-state fluorescence study indicated that all the poly(tBuAH) samples of different f1,4 emitted weak but significant fluorescence in DMF. The maximum of fluorescence band shifted from ca. 350 to ca. 450 nm with varying the excitation wavelength from 300 to 400 nm.

We synthetized and characterized a mono spermine porphyrin derivative by NMR, UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The photophysical properties and the protonation equilibria of 5-(4-carboxyphenylspermine)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin have been investigated, showing that porphyrin does not aggregate in acidic solutions, differently from what occurs as soon as the core of the porphyrin is deprotonated. These aggregation processes have been detected by the rising of new fluorescence band and a significant splitting of the Soret band.

Spectral properties of laser dyes 4-methyl-7-(4-morpholinyl)-2 H pyrano [2,3-b] pyridin-2-one (LD – 425) and 6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-6,8,9-trimethyl-4-(trifluoromrthyl)-2H-pyrano[2,3b][1,8]naphthyridin-2-one (LD – 489) have been investigated in the temperature range 250C - 650C by steady state and transient methods. Fluorescence intensity decreases with increase in temperature with fluorescence band maxima shifted towards shorter wavelength in both the dyes. Further, fluorescence lifetime has decreased with increase in temperature for LD - 425, whereas remained constant with change in temperature for LD - 489. The possible deactivation mechanisms are discussed. The quenching effect of these dyes in the presence of aniline at different temperature has been studied and the Stern-Volmer (S-V) plots are non-linear showing positive deviation. It has been observed that dynamic quenching constant increases with temperature, whereas static quenching constant is independent of temperature.

The paper presents on the synthesis and optical properties of mesomorphic composites, based on a glassy liquid-crystalline caprylate matrix, with  CdSе/ZnS hetero-nanoparticles. The synthesis of complex core-shell semiconductor nanoparticles was carried out by fusing together a cadmium caprylate composite with CdSе nanoparticles and zinc caprylate composite with ZnS nanoparticles. The cadmium and zinc chalcogenide nanoparticles have been synthesized in molten cadmium caprylate and zinc caprylate respectively. It has been found by optical spectroscopy that the have hetero-nanoparticles a core-shell structure. The effect of the composition (molar ratio of the components) of CdSе/ZnS hetero-nanoparticles on their spectral characteristics has been studied. It has been shown that the nanocomposites with hetero-nanoparticles are characterized by a more intense exciton fluorescence band than composites with individual CdSе or ZnS nanoparticles. It has been found that by varying the hetero-nanoparticle composition, one can change the core-shell thickness ratio and adjust thereby the absorption and emission band edge. As the number of ZnS nanoparticles in CdSе/ZnS hetero-nanoparticles increases some narrowing of the long- wavelength emission region first takes plase, which may be attributed to a reduction in the recombination of the smaller number of surface trapped exciton, and then, at a large ZnS content, a broadening of the long- wavelength emission region takes plase due to the extended CdSе/ZnS surface. It has been found that the main  contribution to the exciton fluorescence of nanocomposites with CdSе/ZnS hetero-nanoparticles is made by cadmium selenide nanoparticles, and that zinc sulfide nanoparticles enhance exciton fluorescence, also due to decrease in surface emission. It has been shown that the nanocomposites with hetero-nanoparticles are characterized by a more intense exciton fluorescence band that the nanocomposites with individual CdSе. The highest emission is observed in the case of the 35-55 % ZnS content of the shell, and at a smaller or larger amount of ZnS, emission intensity decreases.

Protolytic, absorbance and fluorescence properties of β-diketone phosphorus-containing dendrimers based on cyclotriphosphazene core were studied. Dendrimer solutions in acetone are characterized by intense absorbance band at ≈ 340 nm (ε340≈ 8.5·104L/mol·сm) and fluorescence band with maximum at 440 nm. Position of these maxima does not change in various solvents, unlike the bands of monomer β-diketone. It was found that dendrimer aggregation is accompanied by appearance of a second absorbance band ε400≈ 4.5·103L/mol·сm, by red shift of emission spectra ∆λ ≈ 10 nm and also by decrease in surface tension of acetone solution. Ability of dendrimer aggregates to solubilize organic substrates was observed with the fluorescent indicator acridine.
