Abstract Rose is the most popular ornamental flower all over the world, which is used as garden plants and cut flowers. In the case of Rosa hybrida L. ’Red Rose’, flowering provides the major developmental transition from the vegetative to the reproductive stage, and reproduction is one of the most important phases in an organism’s life cycle. In this study, the morphological and physiological changes during the flower development of rose, which is planted in the garden, and roles of plant growth regulators on the flowering of in vitro vegetative shoots of rose were analyzed. The development of a flower includes three stages: the shoot apical meristem, floral meristem, floral bud. Levels of cytokinin, auxins, and gibberellins increased in the transition of meristem from the shoot apical meristem to the floral meristem stage. Plant growth regulators have important effects on the shoot apical meristem cell division and flowering. The combination of 0.5 mg.L−1 GA3, 0.1 mg.L−1 NAA, 2.5 or 3.0 mg.L−1 BA to Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium induces the floral transition of the in vitro vegetative shoots with the highest percentage (41%) as well as growth and development in comparison to the other treatments after 10 weeks. Then, the in vitro floral meristem continuously developed into a flower bud after 12 weeks.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dan mendapatkan perlakuan yang terbaik dari larutan pulsing dan lama perendaman sebagai larutan perendam untuk memperpanjang masa kesegaran bunga potong Mawar Putih (Rosa hybrida L.). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan dua faktor percobaan. Faktor pertama adalah komponen larutan pulsing terdiri 3 bagian yaitu: Sukrosa 5% + 250 ppm AgNO3 + Asam Sitrat 75 ppm, Sukrosa 10% + 500 ppm AgNO3 + Asam Sitrat 150 ppm dan Sukrosa 15% + 650 ppm AgNO3 + Asam Sitrat 300 ppm. Faktor kedua adalah lama perendaman terdiri dua bagian yaitu: 4 jam dan 8 jam. Analisa dilakukan setiap dua hari sekali dengan penggantian air setiap dua hari sekali yang disimpan dalam suhu ruang (27±1)0C selama 12 hari. Kombinasi perlakuan larutan pulsing dan lama perendaman berpengaruh sangat nyata (p<0,01) terhadapan serapan total serta tidak berpengaruh nyata (p>0,05) terhadap perubahan berat, uji skor warna, kelayuan, bent neck dan tingkat kemekaran. Kombinasi perlakuan terbaik adalah larutan pulsing Sukrosa 15% + 650 ppm AgNO3 + Asam Sitrat 300 ppm dengan lama perendaman 8 jam menghasilkan rata-rata serapan total 10,48 ml, rata-rata perubahan berat 9,8%, rata-rata uji skor warna 3,2, rata-rata uji skor tingkat kelayuan 3,6, rata-rata uji skor bent neck 3,6 dan rata-rata tingkat kemekaran bunga 63,89%. ABSTRACT The research aims to determine the effect of pulsing solutions and soaking time to extend the freshness of the white roses cut flower (Rosa hybrida L.) as well as to obtain the best treatments combination of the two variables. The research consists of 8 treatment combinations, each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 24 treatments. The research uses a completely randomized design (CRD) method with two experiment factors. The first factor is the component of the pulsing solution consisting of 3 parts: Sucrose 5% + 250 ppm AgNO3 + Citric Acid 75 ppm, Sucrose 10% + 500 ppm AgNO3 + Citric Acid 150 ppm and Sucrose 15% + 650 ppm AgNO3 + Citric Acid 300 ppm. The second factor is the immersion time consists of two parts, namely: 4 hours and 8 hours. The analysis was carried out every two days with replacement of water every two days stored at room temperature (27 ± 1)0C for 12 days. The combination of pulsing solution treatment and soaking time had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on the total absorption and had no significant effect (p>0,05) on changes in weight, color score test, withered, bent neck, and efflorescence of level. The best combination of treatments solution pulsing treatment is 15% sucrose + 650 ppm AgNO3 + 300 ppm Citric Acid with 8 hours immersion resulting in an average total absorption of 10,48 ml, an average rate of weight changes 9,8 %, the average color test score was 3.2, the average wilt level test score was 3.6, the average bent neck test score was 3.6 and average rate of flowering 63,89%. It can be concluded that white roses are affected by the concentration of the pulsing solution because the concentration of the pulsing solution gives changes to white rose cut flowers.

In recent years ,several Micropropagation technique has been established, to make some improved method of crop yield production the natural hormone from other plant species were selected for the beneficial result in the plant species. The Micro propagation technique is carried out in Rosa hybrida explant by providing the different natural shooting and rooting hormone in three different compositions with the half strength of MS medium , it is to predict the ability of which natural hormone is being utilized by the nodal explant of Rosa hybrida. The three different natural shooting and rooting hormone are Aloe vera gel extract and the tender coconut water with 50 ml and 100 ml and 150 ml of concentration in half strength MS media and the Cinnamon powder alone taken in the .5 g,1g and 1.5 g of concentration in half strength MS media due to the powdery form. These were proceeded in aseptic condition of propagation as a result it has been noticed that among the three natural hormone the remarkable growth has been found in the tender coconut water provided nodal segment in all the three concentration .This article has a goal to promote the use of the natural rooting role in the plant breeding industry.

AbstractThe developmental patterns of many organisms are orchestrated by the diffusion of factors. Here, we report a novel pattern on plant stems that appears to be controlled by inhibitor diffusion. Prickles on rose stems appear to be randomly distributed, but we deciphered spatial patterns of prickles on Rosa hybrida cv. ‘Red Queen’ stem. The prickles primarily emerged at 90 to 135 degrees from the spiral phyllotaxis that connected leaf primordia. We proposed a simple mathematical model that explained the emergence of the spatial patterns and reproduced the prickle density distribution on rose stems. We confirmed the model can reproduce the observed prickle patterning on stems of other plant species using other model parameters. These results indicated that the spatial patterns of prickles on stems of different plant species are organized by similar systems. Rose cultivation by humans has a long history. However, prickle development is still unclear and this is the first report of prickle spatial pattern with a mathematical model. Comprehensive analysis of the spatial pattern, genome, and metabolomics of other plant species may lead to novel insights for prickle development.

Bunga mawar (Rosa hybrida) merupakan salah satu jenis bunga potong yang memiliki nilai ekonomi tinggi dan sangat prospektif untuk dikembangkan secara komersial. Namun, kesegaran dari bunga mawar merah potong tidak mampu bertahan lama akibat kandungan air yang tinggi pada mawar. Salah satu upaya untuk mempertahankan kualitas dan memperpanjang masa kesegaran bunga adalah dengan pemberian larutan perendam. Umumnya larutan perendam terdiri dari air, gula (sukrosa), bakterisida, dan antibiotik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis medium terhadap vase life bunga potong mawar merah dan jenis medium yang paling efektif untuk memperpanjang vase life bunga potong mawar merah. Penelitian dilaksanakan dengan 6 perlakuan dan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji, yaitu A (air mineral), AG (Air dan larutan gula 1%), GK1 (larutan gula 1% dan ekstrak kemangi 12,5%), GK2 (larutan gula 1% dan ekstrak kemangi 25%), GB1 (larutan gula 1% dan ekstrak belimbing wuluh 12,5%), GB2 (larutan gula 1% dan ekstrak belimbing wuluh 25%). Dan dalam setiap perlakuan berisi tiga bunga mawar potong. Data diolah secara statistik dengan teknik pengolahan data menggunakan Uji ANOVA dan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan A, AG dan GB1 menunjukan tingkat kesegaran bunga yang paling tinggi, sedangkan pada perlakuan GK2 menunjukan tingkat kesegaran bunga yang paling rendah.
