Resumo: Ana Cristina Cesar, em Luvas de Pelica (1980)1, mostra-nos um tipo singular de dicção íntima em que a finalidade do segredo é desativada, e uma mistura de diário de viagem, cartas e anotações pessoais é transformada em um espaço de deriva poética, no qual a posição do sujeito torna-se matéria de literatura. Há neste texto uma outra possibilidade de entendimento do que poderíamos chamar de “âmbito íntimo”, já que aqui, a intimidade acaba ganhando um estatuto diferente daquele da clausura, característico de décadas anteriores. Sabemos que nesta obra, Katherine Mansfield e Virginia Woolf são referenciadas, mas, em que medida a obra de um outro autor moderno, James Joyce, poderia dar uma nova luz à escritura de Ana Cristina? Joyce abordou de maneira intensa a temática da intimidade em seu livro Ulysses (1922), não somente através de cartas, mas também de um fluxo de consciência, em que a matéria corporal corre “junto” ao que nos é apresentado textualmente. Levando em conta o trabalho de problematização da instância íntima realizado por Ana C., haveria em Luvas de Pelica uma espécie de tonalidade joyceana refletida em seu corpus textual? Este trabalho pretende desbravar este tema, apontando para possíveis relações entre as estratégias de escrita de Ulysses e de Luvas de Pelica, a fim de descobrir pontos em comum que possam iluminar ainda mais a poética da escritora carioca.Palavras-chave: Ana Cristina Cesar; James Joyce; Intimidade; Feminino.Abstract: Ana Cristina Cesar, in Luvas de Pelica (1980), shows us a singular type of intimate diction in which the purpose of the secret is deactivated, and a mixture of travel diary, letters and personal notes is transformed into a space of poetic drift, in which the subject’s position becomes a matter of literature. There is in this text another possibility of understanding what we could call “intimate sphere”, since here, intimacy ends up gaining a different status from that of enclosure, characteristic of previous decades. We know that in this work Katherine Mansfield and Virginia Woolf are referenced, but to what extent could the work of another modern author, James Joyce, shed new light on Ana Cristina’s writing? Joyce intensely addressed the theme of intimacy in his book Ulysses (2012), not only through letters, but also through a stream of consciousness, in which the body matter of the character runs “along” with what is presented to us textually. Taking into account Ana C.’s problematization of the intimate instance, would there be in Luvas de Pelica a kind of Joycean tone reflected in her textual corpus? This paper intends to explore this theme, pointing to possible relationships between the writing strategies of Ulysses and Luvas de Pelica, in order to discover common points that can further illuminate the poetics of the writer from Rio de Janeiro.Keywords: Ana Cristina Cesar; James Joyce; Intimacy; Feminine.

Palace of Desire is an excellent costume TV series directed by Li Shaohong. There are two screenwriters named Zhen Chong and Wang Yao. They used unique writing strategies to narrate the story of Princess Tai Ping and Empress Wu Zetian who are trapped in a delimma of power and emotion during a special period of Tang Dynasty, showing the confusion of women in the feudal society of ancient China. This article will use the theory of feminist stylistics to analyze the script of Palace of Desire. To be more specific, the paper focuses on narrative voices in Palace of Desire. It is hoped that how the screenwriters construct the narrative authority of women and make the work a feminist classic can be interpreted.

Modern teaching methodology believes that the purpose of teaching writing in a foreign language is to develop the skills needed for learners to be able to complete written texts at the level that he (the student) would perform in his native language.The paper discusses writing as a means, writing as a result, and as a combination of both forms.Writing as a means. Writing is the best way to master almost every aspect of a foreign language (English at this point). For example, the student writes a new lexical item, grammar rules, answers written questions in writing, conveys individual thoughts in the form os essays. Writing as a key part of learning English, which is equally necessary for both knowledge acwuisition and testing.Writing as a result. The goal of all activities in English is to teach writing. Working on students’ spercific written forms at the “micro” level results in the student composing words or sentences.Writing as a means and an outcome. The third type of activity combines purposeful and original writing with the practice of establishing some skills and conveying content.

Generally, learning outcomes are not always as expected; instead, they show a degree of variation depending on various factors. Likewise, despite the fact of providing writing instruments in Saudi EFL classrooms, the outcomes are not always as expected. The reasons may range from classroom atmosphere to individual cognition and many other related variants around. However, it is a small attempt in teachers’ perspective to see if anything is lacking in the implementation of ‘teaching writing strategies’ for EFL classrooms. To verify this assumption between practicality and literature, this paper intends to explore ‘the implementation of writing strategies of faculty’ during teaching writing skills. In addition, this paper also attempts to identify what sort of discourse tools and metacognitive strategies university faculty are incorporating in their teaching, and what is ignored or not used up to the mark while enhancing Saudi EFL students’ meta-cognitive awareness. To collect responses for this study, a survey questionnaire was administered among 36 English language educators of the Jazan region. The results of this study revealed that there is a component that was given minor importance during teaching, though teachers used other strategies and tools extensively. Furthermore, one of the aims of the study is to demonstrate how discourse can be used to offer a solution in the present scenario. In a nutshell, this research recommends the significance of the neglected subcomponent and its importance in improving writing metacognition.

This essay is a rereading of two novels by Mario Benedetti published first in Montevideo in the 1960’s and subsequently in Mexico around the 1970’s, receiving changing receptions over the years. Both have Montevideo as their setting, but the topographical perspectives and writing strategies are different. It traces the networks of writers, publishers and readers in Latin America developed during the 20th century and their obliteration by the military regimes in the 1970’s. Reviewing the fluctuating moods in Benedetti’s later reception, this essay compares opposite sets of aesthetic values developed during the second half of the last century, which are taken for granted even today, studying their initial hypotheses and showing how literary works are distorted by prejudiced sets of critical perspectives that pigeonhole works and authors in boxes established in advance.
