Opportunities of Using IT Compliance Tools as an Organization's Management Function

The present article deals with the study of the application and regulatory consolidation of the IT compliance function in both commercial and state-financed organizations. In addition to studying the application of this function, the article focuses on the issues of building a compliance system in the organization. In the main part of the work, compliance is considered as a system of measures taken by an organization for its effective operation. A detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the concerned system is presented, as well as the authors’ assessment of the risks and prospects associated with the implementation and application of the compliance methodology within the enterprise.

The Concept of Optimal Compaction of the Charge in the Gravitation System Using the Grains Triangle for Cokemaking Process

Two isomorphic sets of grains, small and large, were analysed—without specifying their dimensions—under the acronym CMC (Curve of Maximum Compression) and taking into account the effects of segregation CMCS. The proposal is particularly valuable for optimal blend preparation in the gravity system in cokemaking. The main advantage of this work is the proposal of using the grains triangle, which limits the values calculated by the relations: bulk density-share of coarse/fine grains, for different levels of moisture content. Each system of changing shares of coarse grains is characterised by a constant C, but there is no need to determine it. Compliance of the calculated value with the experimentally determined value means that the given arbitrary grain set has reached its maximum density called the “locus”. The grains triangle practically covers the vast majority of laboratory and industrial test results, and geometrically or computationally indicates the ability of a given particle size distribution to reach maximum bulk density. This paper presents analysis of the results of tests on crushing, coal briquettes, and grinding coal blend in selected mechanical systems. Results of tests on coke quality (CRI, CSR) in connection with the grain size triangle are discussed.

Pharmacy Implementation of a New Law Allowing Year-Long Hormonal Contraception Supplies

Background: Prescription hormonal contraceptive methods are vital to prevention of unplanned pregnancies. New legislation among 23 states has expanded access to contraception. In California, a 2017 law requires pharmacists to dispense year-long supplies of contraception and insurance plans to cover it upon patients’ request. This study assesses pharmacist knowledge of this new law 6 months after enactment. Methods: From July to November 2017, a random selection of 600 community pharmacies were called requesting a pharmacist (n = 532, 88.7% response). Pharmacists were asked if they had heard of the new law, if they would dispense a year-long supply to cash-pay, privately or publicly insured patients, and what they perceived as obstacles to dispensing year-long supplies. Results: Awareness of this law was assessed through these surveys. Most pharmacists responded they would dispense year-long supplies to cash-pay patients, regardless of knowledge of the new law (81% of “knew”, 70% of “did not know”, p = 0.1046). The top two perceived obstacles were insurance reimbursement (55.8%) and store policy (13.4%). Conclusion: Despite a new law requiring insurance coverage of a year-long supply of prescription birth control, most pharmacists were unaware at six months after the policy went into effect. Of those who were aware, the majority did not clearly understand it. Compliance among insurance plans is unknown. There was no implementation plan or awareness campaign for the new law.

DAMPAK IMPLEMENTASI ISO/IEC 20000 PADA PERUSAHAAN PT. VISIONET DATA INTERNASIONAL

Proses manajemen layanan informasi yang diberikan berupa jasa pembuatan, perbaikan dan pengembangan perangkat di bidang IT. Salah satu ITSM bisa dilakukan dengan menggunakan ISO 20000. PT Visionet Data International telah menggunakan ISO 20000 sebagai framework service pada perusahaanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif terhadap IT Compliance sebagai sumber informasi untuk penelitian ini. Pada penelitian ini menghasilkan dampak implementasi penggunaan, temuan, dan rekomendasi setelah mengimplementasikan ISO 20000 pada perusahaan PT Visionet Data International. Dalam penelitian ini, menghasilkan beberapa temuan yaitu belum semua business unit menggunakan ITSM ISO 20000, kurangnya jumlah dan pengalaman SDM dalam mengimplementasikan ITSM ISO 20000. Dari hasil penelitian ini, untuk merekomendasi penerapan ITSM ISO 20000 untuk semua business unit, open recruitment dan adanya training untuk karyawan.

IT-Compliance in KMU – State of the art

Zusammenfassung Kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen (KMU) sind bekannt für ihre Innovationskraft und bilden das Rückgrat der deutschen Wirtschaft. Wie Studien zeigen sind sie in Bezug auf Compliance-Maßnahmen im Vergleich zu kapitalmarktorientierten Unternehmen jedoch im Rückstand. Eine gesonderte Betrachtung der IT-Compliance erfolgt dabei in den Studien in der Regel nicht. Auch wenn zu den Gründen und Motiven fehlender IT-Compliance-Strukturen in KMU kaum Forschungsergebnisse vorliegen, zeigen doch die vielen Publikationen, die sich mit Teilaspekten von Compliance und KMU beschäftigen, dass Handlungsbedarf besteht. Insbesondere die aktuellen Veränderungen unter dem Stichwort Digitalisierung deuten auf eine gesteigerte Bedeutung von IT-Compliance-Maßnahmen vor allem in mittelständischen Unternehmen. In dieser Arbeit sollen daher mithilfe einer Literaturrecherche die aktuell behandelten Themen in Bezug auf IT-Compliance und KMU analysiert sowie aktuelle Themenschwerpunkte herausgearbeitet werden.

Could Attitudes Toward COVID-19 in Spain Render Men More Vulnerable Than Women?

The COVID-1 pandemic affects the whole world. Spain is 3rd in the world and 2nd in Europe with largest number of diagnosed cases. Spanish citizens’ attitudes are important in controlling the pandemic. This research assessed key attitudes of the Spanish people toward COVID-19. One study (n =64) was conducted in a shopping center in Madrid and another (n= 640) online. The results of both studies suggest that women in Spain have a ‘more responsible’ attitude toward the COVID-19 than men. Young adults (18-25 years) appear to perceive less threatening the epidemic than older adults. Spanish people’s personal concern about COVID-19 is less than their perceived social alarm about it. Compliance is the strongest predictor of the approval to stay at home, which is the highest rated preventive measure by the Spanish people. These results might help policy makers in targeting public attitudes which could play an important role in the exponentially rising cases of COVID-19.

IT-Compliance für Banken leichter bewältigen

Für Banken gibt es eine wachsende Anzahl von Rechtsgrundlagen, d. h. Gesetze, Verordnungen, Direktiven und Rundschreiben, die sie im Tagesgeschäft beachten müssen. Gerade die Bedeutung von einem angemessenen Schutz vor IT-Sicherheitsrisiken nimmt zu. EU-weite Programme wie beispielsweise TIBER-EU oder der Nachweis der KRITIS- Anforderungen sollen das bestehende Sicherheitsniveau weiter verbessern. Als ganzheitlichen Ansatz für eine kontinuierliche Evaluierung der Sicherheit von Technologie wie Organisation gleichermaßen empfiehlt sich die Einführung und der Betrieb eines Informationssicherheitsmanagement-Systems.
