Significance Follow-on action from Washington and responses from foreign actors will shape the US government’s adversarial policy towards China in semiconductors and other strategic technologies. Impacts The Biden administration will likely conclude that broad-based diversion of the semiconductor supply chain away from China is not feasible. The United States will rely on export controls and political pressure to prevent diffusion to China of cutting-edge chip technologies. The United States will focus on persuading foreign semiconductor leaders to help develop US capabilities, thereby staying ahead of China. Washington will focus on less direct approaches to strategic technology competition with China, notably technical standards-setting. Industry leaders in the semiconductor supply chain worldwide will continue expanding business in China in less politically sensitive areas.

As the COVID-19 pandemic hit the whole world unexpectedly, the connection between people was cut, and people had to adopt a new method to interact. This paper focuses on techniques used to conquer obstacles due to the pandemic and how Chinese businessmen preserved their culture at the same time. Combining the traditional way of negotiation with the new methods is also a topic worth negotiating. The whole world can see how Chinese businessmen rapidly adapt to the new environment. Since this is an unprecedented crisis and topic to discuss, the theme of this paper is not found in much research. Hopefully, the findings in the paper will guide negotiators throughout the world. A pause button has been pushed on the global economy; China was also estimated to suffer a plunge in the economy. However, this paper offers an alternative guess that China is overgrowing after COVID-19 is mainly under control. There is little research done on this abstract topic of negotiation after the pandemic. Thus, this paper primarily cites articles from before the pandemic as an introduction to the Chinese negotiation style and uses qualitative first-hand from the survey. Representatives in the survey have abundant experience in negotiation and conducting business in China. The survey results suggest positive expectations from businessmen in China, and the younger the group surveyed, the more likely they are to adapt to the new ways to negotiate. The findings in this paper can be a lighthouse for future study in acceptance and application of the use of novel methods developed during the pandemic.

Internet’s online information services can deliver high-quality services to the public while eliminating social alienation and virus transmission. From 2013 until the fourth quarter of 2020, China has had the highest number of Internet users in the world. Public access to information in the health care business in China is mostly through the Internet. In the healthcare business, high-quality information services are the fundamental obstacle because of their importance and effect on human lives. This article uses Chinese hospitals as a case study, covering assessment system development and empirical research. A total of 217 questionnaires were issued, 212 of which were valid, and the effective rate was 97.6 percent. The outcomes of the research show that the extensive epidemiological information services of the hospital website during an epidemic outbreak have a significant influence on the public’s use of the hospital website. Secondly, high-quality epidemic-related information services are critical to enhancing website information services during outbreaks. Finally, in the epidemic, the high-quality service of the hospital’s website has a greater impact on the worth of information in comparison to the content of information service.

Significance Together with the Personal Information Protection Law passed last month, it imposes significant data protection compliance requirements on the corporate sector. These will impact data flows between China and the outside world, adding to the challenges that US companies now face when doing business in China. Impacts China's drive for technological self-sufficiency will increasingly limit market opportunities for US companies. State media's negative coverage of US businesses in China is an indication of growing protectionist sentiment. Instances of US firms moving supply-chain operations out of China are rare and are driven primarily by rising costs. An upcoming US Treasury review of the impact of sanctions could see other tactics used against China, with business implications.

The article examined the characteristics of the market activity of the innovative travel company International Tourism Investment Association (ITIA), which operates in the markets of outbound, inbound and domestic tourism of the People's Republic of China, as well as in related markets: transport and investment services, hospitality services and project activities. The purpose of the research was to study the factors of the main activity, namely tourism. The research collected and analyzed information about the factors of external and internal environment of the company's market activity. The results of the PEST analysis showed that the macro-environment is quite favorable to the development of tourism business in China. However, this situation also creates negative effects for ITIA, including increased competition, high consumer demands for the quality services, and environmental issues in a number of regions. The results of the SNW analysis showed the overall success of the company among its competitors in the tourist market. At the same time, the research identified the need to strengthen some positions. In this regard, we suggested ways to improve the company's activities in the travel services market.

Purpose Grappling with the sweeping pandemic, the small hospitality business (SHB), smaller in scale and weaker in risk mitigation, has been seriously affected. The purpose of this study aims to supplement the unrepresented area of SHB in China from the digital perspective by drawing on instrumentalization theory (IT). Design/methodology/approach Based on two appropriate and detailed SHB cases, this paper adopted a qualitative approach to understand and conceptualize the focal issue. Findings This study identified the factors affecting SHB at operational, managerial and transformational levels amidst the crisis. It further developed a theoretical framework of the SHB rebound matrix, highlighting the importance of digitization and digitalization. Research limitations/implications The research theoretically confirmed that SHB is internally, externally and essentially restricted and developed a corresponding rebound matrix. It practically supports SHB’s transformation by making recommendations to unleash the potential of digital business. Originality/value This study complements extant descriptive and atheoretical research by focusing on SHB’s underlying digital nature through the lens of IT, providing an evidenced theoretical understanding of SHB’s development amidst and after the pandemic.
