Postdoctoral training enables research independence and professional readiness. National reports have emphasized professional development as a critical component of this training period. In response, many institutions are establishing transferable skills training workshops for postdocs; however, the lack of structured programs and an absence of methods to assess outcomes beyond participant satisfaction surveys are critical gaps in postdoctoral training. To address these shortcomings, we took the approach of structured programming and developed a method for controlled assessment of outcomes. Our program You3 (You, Your Team, Your Project), co-designed by postdoctoral fellows, focused on discussing specific management and leadership skills agnostic of ultimate career path(s) in a structured manner. We then measured outcomes in a controlled manner, by systematically comparing perceived knowledge and growth as indicators of awareness and confidence in participants against that of non-participants as the control group. You3 participants self-rated greater growth in targeted competencies compared to non-participants independent of the number of years of training. This growth was shown by multiple criteria including self-reporting and associative analysis. Correspondingly, You3 participants reported greater knowledge in 75% of the modules when compared to controls. These data indicate that structured learning, where postdocs commit to a curriculum via a cohort-structure, leads to positive outcomes and provides a framework for programs to assess outcomes in a rigorous manner.

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of WhatsApp social media on the learning outcomes of Hindu religious education and character for class X students at SMK Negeri 4 Mataram in the 2020/2021 academic year. This study uses a quantitative approach and is an ex post facto research using correlational associative analysis. Ex post facto research is research that examines causal relationships that are not manipulated or treated (designed and implemented) by the researcher. Data were collected using questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique uses product moment correlation. The results of the study indicate that there is an effect of the use of WhatsApp social media on the learning outcomes of Hindu religious education and character for class X students at SMK Negeri 4 Mataram in the 2020/2021 academic year. The magnitude of the influence of the use of WhatsApp social media on the learning outcomes of Hindu religious education and the character of class X students (rxy) is 0.378, while the contribution of WhatsApp social media is 14.28%. This means that there is another factor of 85.72% of the learning outcomes of Hindu religious education and character for class X students at SMK Negeri 4 Mataram. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the use of WhatsApp social media on the learning outcomes of Hindu religious education and character for class X students at SMK Negeri 4 Mataram in the 2020/2021 academic year, with the contribution of using WhatsApp social media by 14.28%. Base on the research result, applied social media WhatsApp can be use in other learning.

In emergency rooms, it is common that several patients present symptoms associated with pulmonary diseases as pneumonia and pulmonary embolism, however, their initial diagnosis presents several challenges: a) both share symptoms, b) the lack of imaging studies at the first diagnosis stage and, c) the amount of data resulting from laboratory analysis are vast to be quickly analyzed. Thus, supporting medical staff through the use of computational tools for detecting clinical variables that are significant on the initial diagnosis, is crucial. Hence, a collaboration with the Centro Medico Nacional de Occidente (CMNO) of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) was established to gather, process, and analyze patients' electronic medical records with a pulmonary embolism or pneumonia diagnosis who were admitted through the emergency room. Data extracting and processing of patients’ medical records (PDF) were performed. Thereafter, a statistical and associative analysis (Apriori) was performed looking for the determination of the clinical variables associated with a correct or incorrect prognosis. As a result, during the patient diagnosis several frequently present variables were identified, pointing out those that whose median values were significantly different for both diseases studied here. Finally, some laboratory variables are suggested to be carefully observed while a patient's initial diagnosis is performed.

In the context of smart home, it is very important to identify usage patterns of Internet of things (IoT) devices. Finding these patterns and using them for decision-making can provide ease, comfort, practicality, and autonomy when executing daily activities. Performing knowledge extraction in a decentralized approach is a computational challenge considering the tight storage and processing constraints of IoT devices, unlike deep learning, which demands a massive amount of data, memory, and processing capability. This article describes a method for mining implicit correlations among the actions of IoT devices through embedded associative analysis. Based on support, confidence, and lift metrics, our proposed method identifies the most relevant correlations between a pair of actions of different IoT devices and suggests the integration between them through hypertext transfer protocol requests. We have compared our proposed method with a centralized method. Experimental results show that the most relevant rules for both methods are the same in 99.75% of cases. Moreover, our proposed method was able to identify relevant correlations that were not identified by the centralized one. Thus, we show that associative analysis of IoT device state change is efficient to provide an intelligent and highly integrated IoT platform while avoiding the single point of failure problem.

The research work demonstrated the use of adaptative and comparative paradigm to calibrate and validate Hall Effect flowrate sensor’s related performance data. The experimental testbed used for the research work is composed of an IoT based platform integrated into a water pipe network. The use of IoT largely assisted in facilitating a well-coordinated and flexible paradigm for efficient data collections and analysis. Correlated and Associative analysis on data obtained shows a strong significant relationship (R2=89%) between the rate of Pulse count and rate of change in differential volume leading to the derivation of a model that is helpful in determining of volumetric rate and quantity of liquid dispense as function of pulse count generated from a Hall Effect flowrate sensor.
