Abstract Background The American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM) annual meeting is a forum to present new research abstracts prior to peer-reviewed publication. The aim of this study is to determine the conversion rate, discrepancies, and time between presentation and publication. Methods A comprehensive literature search was conducted cross-referencing ASRM abstracts presented between 2014 and 2018 with peer-reviewed manuscripts. The title and authors of the abstract and manuscript, the journal of manuscript publication, and time in months between presentation and publication were recorded. The conversion rate was calculated as the proportion of publications to abstracts. Major discrepancies were defined as changes in the purpose, study design, methods, sample size, statistical analysis, results, or conclusions. Minor discrepancies were defined as changes in the title or authorship. Results Out of 667 oral abstract presentations, 361 (54%) resulted in publication. Of these abstracts, 53 were presented after their corresponding manuscripts were published. The mean conversion rate was 55.52 ± 10.17%. The mean time from presentation to publication was 13.83 months. Minor discrepancies were more frequent than major discrepancies (91 vs. 76%). The most common major and minor discrepancies involved changes in the results (63%) and authorship (79%), respectively. There was a significant association between the year of abstract presentation and whether the conclusion was changed (p = 0.001), but interyear relationships with all other discrepancies failed to reach statistical significance. Conclusion Only around half of abstracts presented at the annual ASRM conference have reached full publication in peer-reviewed journals, and most are undergoing significant changes between presentation and publication. This may be due to panel discussions at meetings suggesting study modifications, as well as revisions after careful peer review. Altering surgical practices may not be recommended based on abstracts' content.

The Manuscript Preparation chapter of the 11th edition of the AMA Manual of Style considers each element of a manuscript (with the exception of references and figures, tables, and boxes, which are dealt with in separate chapters): titles and subtitles, author bylines and end-of-text signatures, notes, running heads and running feet, abstracts, key words, epigraphs, headings and subheadings and side headings, addenda, acknowledgments, appendixes, online-only supplementary material, and ancillary educational and promotional material. Guidance is directed to both authors, for manuscript preparation and submission, and editors, for manuscript publication. Requirements of specific journals as well as reporting guidelines such as EQUATOR are taken into account. For some sections, both print and online examples are provided.

Abstract Background In their research reports, scientists are expected to discuss limitations that their studies have. Previous research showed that often, such discussion is absent. Also, many journals emphasize the importance of avoiding overstatement of claims. We wanted to see to what extent editorial handling and peer review affects self-acknowledgment of limitations and hedging of claims. Methods Using software that automatically detects limitation-acknowledging sentences and calculates the level of hedging in sentences, we compared the submitted manuscripts and their ultimate publications of all randomized trials published in 2015 in 27 BioMed Central (BMC) journals and BMJ Open. We used mixed linear and logistic regression models, accounting for clustering of manuscript-publication pairs within journals, to quantify before-after changes in the mean numbers of limitation-acknowledging sentences, in the probability that a manuscript with zero self-acknowledged limitations ended up as a publication with at least one and in hedging scores. Results Four hundred forty-six manuscript-publication pairs were analyzed. The median number of manuscripts per journal was 10.5 (interquartile range 6–18). The average number of distinct limitation sentences increased by 1.39 (95% CI 1.09–1.76), from 2.48 in manuscripts to 3.87 in publications. Two hundred two manuscripts (45.3%) did not mention any limitations. Sixty-three (31%, 95% CI 25–38) of these mentioned at least one after peer review. Changes in mean hedging scores were negligible. Conclusions Our findings support the idea that editorial handling and peer review lead to more self-acknowledgment of study limitations, but not to changes in linguistic nuance.

ABSTRACT. Self-concern, physical education and students from 6 to 10 years: a systematic review of the literature. Objective: This study aimed to systematically review the relationship between self-concept and physical education in students aged 6 to 10 years. Method: The search for descriptors was carried out in four databases (Redalyc, BVS, Scielo and Science Direct). The period of search of the manuscript publication comprised from January 2013 to May 2018. The quality evaluation of the studies was performed through the checklists STROBE and DOWNS and BLACK. Results: 257 studies were found in the search for titles, 197 abstracts were read and 5 articles were selected for reading comprehensively (following the inclusion factors and exclusion), these were included in the review with the necessary outcomes for the analysis. Conclusion: School Physical Education was a positive factor in the construction of self-concept in children from 6 to 10 years of age, but in relation to this age group, literature is still limited, requiring more research in the area.

In response to widespread concerns about the integrity of research published in scholarly journals, several initiatives have emerged that are promoting research transparency through access to data underlying published scientific findings. Journal editors, in particular, have made a commitment to research transparency by issuing data policies that require authors to submit their data, code, and documentation to data repositories to allow for public access to the data. In the case of the American Journal of Political Science (AJPS) Data Replication Policy, the data also must undergo an independent verification process in which materials are reviewed for quality as a condition of final manuscript publication and acceptance. Aware of the specialized expertise of the data archives, AJPS called upon the Odum Institute Data Archive to provide a data review service that performs data curation and verification of replication datasets. This article presents a case study of the collaboration between AJPS and the Odum Institute Data Archive to develop a workflow that bridges manuscript publication and data review processes. The case study describes the challenges and the successes of the workflow integration, and offers lessons learned that may be applied by other data archives that are considering expanding their services to include data curation and verification services to support reproducible research.

Manuscript Publication in IOSR Journal Of Humanities And Social Science (IOSR-JHSS)Volume 23, Issue 3, Ver. 8 (March. 2018) PP 74-83Articulation of a word of power of proof can be interpreted as something that is multak, legitimateand perfect in a criminal case, especially corruption criminal case. The absoluteness, validity, and perfection ofthe evidence are directed to a proof of CPC audit or more familiar with CPC audit results. Proof meanssufficient evidence to show the truth of an event, so that proof means a deed to prove something truth, execute, signify, witness and convince. The evidence of the inspection result is the source of the rule of law number 15 of2006 concerning the Supreme Audit Agency (CPC), which in the period of 8 paragraphs 3 and 4 states: If in theinvestigation is found criminal element, CPC reports it to the authorized institution in accordance with theprovisions of the law - invitation no later than 1 (one) month since the existence of such criminal element isknown. And the CPC Report as referred to in paragraph (3) shall be the basis of investigation by the competentinvestigating authority in accordance with the laws and regulations. From this comes the matter of the strengthof the proof of the CPC report referred to in the article and the accountability that can be tested in a courtprocess. This research uses normative juridical research method by tracing secondary and primary materials thatare closely related to the object of research. The secondary materials in question are the invitees, scientificwritings, scientific articles and others
