Abstract Awareness of the exposome and its influence on health has increased in the last decade. As past exposures can cause changes in human health many years later, delving into the past is relevant for both diagnostic and prevention purposes, but remains a challenging task. Lifestyle, diet and socioeconomic information of the past should be well documented and compatible with modern data science methods. While chemical analysis nowadays makes use of High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HR-MS) for highly sensitive and comprehensive coverage of samples plus retrospective analysis, these data archives are in the very early stages. Since past measurements are often only available for a limited set of chemicals, adding to this knowledge requires careful selection of sample types and sampling sites, which may not always be available. The choice of analytes and analytical methods should be suitable for the study question—which is not always clear in advance in exposomics. Data interpretation and the use of appropriate databases are indispensable for a proper exposure assessment, and as databases and knowledge grow, re-analysis of physically or digitally archived samples could enable “continuous monitoring” efforts. This review focusses on the chemical analytical approaches necessary to capture the complexity of the historical exposome. Various sample types, analytes as well as analyses and data interpretation methods are discussed in relation to chemical exposures, while the connection to health remains in focus. It ends with perspectives and challenges in assessing the historical exposome, discussing how we can “learn from the past” to build a better future.

Currently, when satellite data volumes grow rapidly and exceed petabyte values and their quality provides reliable analysis of long-term time series, traditional data handling methods assuming local storage and processing may be impossible to implement for small or distributed research teams. Thus, new methods based on modern web technologies providing access to very large distributed data archives are gaining increasing importance. Furthermore, these new data handling solutions should provide not just access but also analysis and processing features, similar to desktop solutions. This paper describes the VEGA-Science web GIS—an open-access novel tool for satellite data processing and analysis. The overview of its architecture and basic technical components is given, but most attention is paid to examples of actual system application for various applied and research tasks. In addition, an overview of projects using the system is given to illustrate its versatility and further development directions are considered.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has been going on for two years now and although many hypotheses have been put forward, its origin remain obscure. We investigated whether the huge public sequencing data archives’ samples collected earlier than the earliest known cases of the pandemic might contain traces of SARS-CoV-2. Here we report the bioinformatic analysis of a metagenome sample set collected from soil on King George Island, Antarctica between 2018-12-24 and 2019-01-13. It contains sequence fragments matching the SARS-CoV-2 reference genome with altogether more than half million nucleotides, covering the complete genome on average 17×. Preliminary phylogeny analysis places the sample close to the known earliest cases. The high sequence coverage rules out chance alignments from other species but possible laboratory contamination cannot be excluded. The sequence harbours a unique combination of mutations, unseen in other samples, so whatever its origin, it can add important piece of information to the puzzle of the ongoing pandemic.

Cell group is one of the most basic forms of service that must be developed by the church in helping the congregation it serves so that it becomes more mature and grows in the knowledge of God. In addition to praise, prayer, and worship, teaching is an important thing in the conduct of cell groups. In connection with teaching, the church must prepare teaching materials that are relevant to the needs of cell grup members. The goal is to make cell grup members more interested in participating in cell groups, and to become more mature in God and able to face the challenges of life that they are facing. The research method used is library research. This method collects data and information in the form of documents, data archives and other literature information. This paper is expected to help churches in developing cell group's services so that the church has a strong concept in compiling teaching materials that are relevant to cell group's members. This paper will discuss the nature of cell group, the importance of teaching materials relevant to cell group members, the biblical basis of teaching materials relevant to cell group members, and ends with concepts in compiling teaching materials in cell group.

Abstract The creation and maintenance of sustainable data archives can be challenging, but it offers clear advantages. Properly curated data can be used by multiple researchers, testing a variety of hypotheses, and increasing the return on investment to the expensive process of data collection. Having an internally managed archival system also provides greater control and autonomy in the equitable distribution of data resources. This process ensures all researchers will have full use of the data for original research, teaching, and new directions once the data leaves the control of the local investigator’s control. This poster reviews the advantages of having a local strategy geared toward the preservation and sharing of gerontological research data. Using the National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA) as a working example, the poster offers an overview of collections at NACDA. Using our metadata tools and variable search database, NACDA can identify studies in its collections that examine aspects of aging and health among adults during their lifecourse. Many of the studies are longitudinal or repeat measure cross-sectional studies. We are also able to identify studies that focus on aging that are not maintained by NACDA but which are available to interested researchers. Using a strategy of archival preservation combined with a strong focus on productive research Innovation in Aging, NACDA has amassed data and metadata covering a wide array of studies worldwide that address the aging lifecourse. Because our collections are multinational, we share these data at no cost to interested users worldwide

Archaeological data archiving has not been a major concern in Catalonia. The heritage legal corpus does not engage with the archiving and curation of archaeological data other than the excavation reports. However, it highlights the responsibility of the administration in cataloguing and disseminating the cultural heritage. For this reason, a lot of effort has been invested during the past few years in inventorying known archaeological sites and publishing archaeological reports, with the aim of increasing the transparency of the administration towards its citizens. This article describes the present situation for archaeology in Catalonia, its legal framework and the main initiatives carried out to archive, manage, and publish archaeological data from a user's point of view. Its main aim is to evaluate the current state of archaeological data archives and public databases by analysing the existing platforms with a set of indicators. This assessment leads to the conclusion that the current repositories and databases could be more worthwhile if some limitations were overcome, but also that the advance in archaeological data archiving is restricted by existing law.

Abstract Optical observations of a sample of 12 γ-ray-bright blazars from four optical data archives—American Association of Variable Star Observers, Small and Moderate Aperture Research Telescope System, Catalina, and Steward Observatory—are compiled to create densely sampled light curves spanning more than a decade. As a part of the blazar multiwavelength studies, several methods of analysis, e.g., flux distribution and rms–flux relation, are performed on the observations with the aim to compare the results with the similar ones in the γ-ray band presented in Bhatta & Dhital. It is found that, similar to the γ-ray band, blazars display significant variability in the optical band that can be characterized with lognormal flux distribution and a power-law dependence of rms on flux. It could be an indication of a possible inherent linear rms–flux relation, yet the scatter in the data does not allow to rule out other possibilities. When comparing variability properties in the two bands, the blazars in the γ-rays are found to exhibit stronger variability with a steeper possible linear rms–flux relation and a flux distribution that is more skewed toward higher fluxes. The cross-correlation study shows that except for source 3C 273, the overall optical and the γ-ray emission in the sources are highly correlated, suggesting a cospatial existence of the particles responsible for both the optical and γ-ray emission. Moreover, sources S5 0716+714, Mrk 421, Mrk 501, PKS 1424-418, and PKS 2155-304 revealed possible evidence of quasiperiodic oscillations in the optical emission with the characteristic timescales, which are comparable to those in the γ-ray band detected in our previous work.

Biennale, an art event (visual) both exhibition and discussion of artworks, comes on regularly every two years. 2019 is the 8th East Java (Jatim) Biennale with the theme “GAS TOK! Lebur Sakjeroning Jawa Timur” involves 500 artists and 40 curators, consisting of 65 activities spread across 16 cities and regencies in East Java. Unlike the previous East Java Biennale, the exhibition locations are spreading across various regions of East Java. All data archives and documentation of the East Java 8 Biennale series are collected and published through the @jatimbiennale8 Instagram account as a form of identity for the East Java Biennale community movement. The 8th East Java Biennale is a celebration and shared inclusive imagination. This research raises the issue of the identity construction of the East Java Biennale community. The digital discourse analysis method in this study analyzes the identity construction created by the East Java 8th Biennale through the digital communication media of Instagram social media. Instagram accounts @jatimbienale8 and @biennalejatim became the object of research on the discourse analysis of identity construction and art practices at the East Java Biennale. The results of this study indicate a discourse of change and resistance to the previous East Java Biennale activities. The changes show organization, funding, event format, location of activities, and curatorial work. The 8th East Java Biennale breaks and fights the stigma. The discourse on constructing a new identity is clearly and unequivocally demonstrated in the art production process, the Biennale exhibition, and post-exhibition through social media Instagram @biennalejatim8, the digital identity of the East Java Biennale.
