In this work, the wetting behaviors of lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) on corroded 316L, T91, and CLAM surfaces were studied. The wettability of LBE on virgin and corroded surfaces were tested at 450 °C by using the sessile-drop (SD) method after immersing the samples in LBE with saturated oxygen concentration for 400, 800, and 1200 h at 450°C. Additionally, the morphology, as well as element distribution of the corrosion structure, were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The results showed that the virgin samples of three materials are non-wetting to LBE, and the formation of corrosion structures further reduces the wettability. Besides, the thickness of the corrosion layer formed on the 316L surface grew more slowly than the other two steel, which results in better corrosion resistance of austenitic steel 316L than that of ferritic/martensitic steels T91 and CLAM at 450 °C. Meanwhile, the morphology and distribution of corrosion products are important factors affecting the wettability of the steel surface. The formation of corrosion products with high roughness as well as disorder results in a significant reduction in surface wettability.

Obstructive sleep apnea is a common disorder wherein there are recurrent episodes of sleep disordered breathing resulting in disrupted sleep and other sequelae. The symptoms of hypothyroidism are very similar to OSA, a number of studies have been performed to analyze their association with conflicting results. A questionnaire based on the Wisconsin Sleep Apnea questionnaire for quality of sleep, sleep pattern, symptoms during sleep, snoring were asked to 118 patients included in the study. The day time sleep patterns were assessed by the Epworth Sleepiness scale. Polysomnography testing, Saturated oxygen levels, sleep efficiency and arousal index were also done for all the patients. Blood was collected for the detection of thyroid hormones. There were 82 (69.5%) males and 36 (30.5%) females on the present study out of 118 patients. The mean age of the patients under study was 53.91 ± 4.69 years, the weight was 89.48 ± 12.83 kgs and the BMI was 34.86 ± 6.11. Amongst the patients with OSA and hypothyroid, the apnea hypoapnea index was 66.22 ± 18.31 episodes per hour, and Epworth sleepiness scale was 15.18 ± 5.26 while in patients with OSA and without hypothyroid, it was 24.17 ± 6.29 and 8.25 ± 5.82 respectively. Our study shows a significant association between OSA and hypothyroidism among patients, thus having a considerable implications in managing the thyroid condition of the patients.

We present simple analytical solution for the unsteady advection-dispersion equation describing the pollutant concentration C(x; t) in one dimension. In this model the water velocity in the x-direction is taken as a linear function of x and dispersion coefficient D as zero. In this paper by taking k = 0, k is the half saturated oxygen demand concentration for pollutant decay, we can apply the Laplace transformation and obtain the solution. The variation of C(x; t) with different times t upto t → ∞ (the steady state case) is taken into account advection-dispersion equation in our study.

Cardiorespiratory performance is one of the most important determinants of success in sports activities. In order to better prepare for sports challenges, the athletes must be exposed to appropriate training which should be based on individualized physiological parameters during activity. Even though training intensity can be determined in many different ways, the endurance training intensity is often quantified by the lactate thresholds obtained from the blood sampling or the ventilator thresholds obtained from the gas exchange. These data represent delayed indirect indicators of an increased anaerobic ATP resynthesis. The muscle oximetry, based on near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), represents non-invasive method that enables the information about the changes in oxygenation in hemoglobin, and potentially represents a very suitable technique to detect a critical exercise threshold directly in the exercising muscle.

Saturated oxygen heterocycles are widely found in a broad array of natural products and other biologically active molecules. In medicinal chemistry, small and medium rings are also important synthetic intermediates since they can undergo ring-opening and -expansion reactions. These applications have driven numerous studies on the synthesis of oxygen-containing heterocycles and considerable effort has been devoted toward the development of methods for the construction of saturated oxygen heterocycles. This paper provides an overview of the biological roles and synthetic strategies of saturated cyclic ethers, covering some of the most studied and newly discovered related natural products in recent years. This paper also reports several promising and newly developed synthetic methods, emphasizing 3–7 membered rings.
