Emotional Context and Color Perception and Recognition by 12- and 16-years-old Children

Will the emotional context in which a painting is placed impact how well adolescents remember the colors in it? Will there be differences in color perception and recognition based on age and gender? Specific materials had to be designed to answer this question: (a) an abstract, themeless painting composed of twelve colors, each covering the same area with the same number of pixels, and (b) four texts with different emotional connotations (fear, anger, happiness, and sadness) describing the lives of fictitious painters. After being pretested, the material was proposed to 142 seventh-grade students and 71 tenth-grade students. Each subject studied a painting and heard one of the four texts. Next, the painting was taken away; after this, the subjects ordered the twelve colors based on how much area they thought each one covered the painting. It was hypothesized that the subjects would give greater importance to specific colors depending on the emotional context induced by the associated text. The results confirmed this hypothesis, although the tenth graders were less affected by the emotional context than the seventh graders. There was no statistically significant effect of gender in either population.

The Influence of Parenting Style and Parent Educational Level on Perception of HIV/AIDS Pandemic among Secondary School Students in Calabar Educatioin Zone, Cross River State, Nigeria

The study sought to determine the extent to which parenting style and parental educational level influence perception of HIV/AIDS pandemic among secondary school students in Calabar Education Zone. Ever since the discovery of HIV/AIDS, concerted efforts have been made by international bodies, agencies, the government etc., to curb the scourge of the malignant virus. This effort has made many to know the potential threat the epidemic possess to human existence. However, in spite of these efforts, many students still perceive HIV/AIDS as a mirage that does not exist. Perception of HIV/AIDS refers to the amount of knowledge about causes, mode of transmission, prevention and treatment, possessed (especially intuitive), on HIV/AIDS. The main purpose of this study was to determine the influence of parenting style and educational level on perception of HIV/AIDS pandemic among secondary school students in Calabar Education Zone. The population of this study comprised of all the SS1, 2 & 3 Students and 1,200 students randomly selected as sample for this study. Data collection instrument was a facts finding questionnaire titled family variables and students perception of HIV/AIDS’ (FVSPA). The major findings were that; parenting style has significant influence on students’ perception of HIV/AIDs. Parental educational level has significant influence on students’ perception of HIV/AIDs. It was recommended that the school management in collaboration with the school guidance counsellors should frequently use forums such as PTA’s to organize trainings in order to sensitize parents on the adoption of most appropriate style of parenting for their children.

Societal Labels, Maslows Hierarchy and Care within the Mental Health System

This article deals with how social attitudes and the consequent labelling in the society and prevent climbing the maslow tree and the kinds of therapy personal growth can offer to those living with schizophrenia. The way this works is illustrated in the article and how the various parts of the mental health system including hospitals, day centres and sheltered accommodation can help with this based on my own experiences.

Hearing Voices, Personal Growth and Positive Reinforcement

This case report delas with the interaction of hearing voices, maslows hierarchy and the role of positive reinforcement. It begins with an account of the different ways of hearing voices can affect each level of the maslow tree and then proceeds to identify ways this can be remedied through positive reinforcement. Finally this process is illustrated with a narrative detailing my personal experience of this.

Thoughts from French Psychoanalysis on the Absence of Corporeality in the Unconscious of Emerging Complex Cognitive System

In this text we answer at the same time to two recent interesting works of Giancarlo Minati and Luca Possati in which they both called to work on the development, one from the part of the computer side, and the other of the humanities one of an IA unconscious in complex cognitive systems as an experiment to come to more anthropomorphic machines, performance added by the unconscious will not be addressed in this paper. We gathered many sources in psychoanalysis to help us understand what could be the barriers dressed against us. In the light of Lacan, Anzieu, Leclaire and Winnicott amongst others we tried to explain how having a body, in the biological sense, makes a difference with recreating—this is a typical human preoccupation—an unconscious in IA. Of course, from a French psychoanalytic standpoint there are many conservative objections, while some can be easily overcome, the matter of innate desire and body seems an understandable concern. It is also important to consider the interesting conjecture of Possati (i.e., a computer can be a projective identification object); while we only may say that it is a transitional object in the sense of Winnicott. Also, we can study further within psychotherapy the behaviour of the patient and therapist, with an algorithm we developed. In the end we address the objection of French postructruralist psychology objections to the creation of a human-like unconscious and advise the experimenting of Possati’s theory with our device.

The Influence of Bullying Behavior on Depression in Middle School Students: A Moderated Mediating Effect

This research aims to explore the relationship between bullying and depression in middle school students, and to investigate the role of loneliness and self-esteem. A cluster sampling method was used to sample 554 students from a middle school in China, and OBVQ, CES-D-10, UCLA-6, and SES were used to measure bullying, depression, loneliness, and self-esteem. The results found that bullying behavior can significantly positively predict students’ depression, and loneliness is an intermediary variable in this path; at the same time, when loneliness transforms into depression, it is regulated by the self-esteem level of students, and there is a moderated mediating effect.

The Influence of Parental Anxious Rearing on Child Depression: The Moderating Effect of Self-Competence

This study explored the relationship between parental anxiety and depression in children, and studied the moderating role of children’s self-competence. Through a series of research tools, the anxious rearing, children’s depression and children’s self-competence are studied respectively. The results show that anxious rearing can significantly predict children’s depression, and self-competence can alleviate this effect.

The Influence of Parental Rejection Style on Children’s Depression: The Moderating Role of Teacher Support

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between parental rejection and childhood depression and the moderating role of teacher support in this relationship. EMBU-C, CES-D10, PSSS and other tools were used to measure parental rearing style, children’s depression mood and perceptive teacher support. The results showed that parental rejection style was positively correlated with children’s depression, and teacher support was negatively correlated with children’s depression. Teacher support acted as a buffer effect between parental rejection and children’s depression.

Relationship between HEXACO Personality Traits and Rolefulness

The main purpose of the present study was to examine the relationships between HEXACO personality traits and rolefulness. Data were collected from 96 Japanese university students. The results showed that honesty–humility was negatively associated with social rolefulness, and extraversion and openness were related to increased social rolefulness. In addition, openness to experience and emotionality were associated with increased internal rolefulness. This model revealed significant relationships between personality traits and rolefulness, contributing to the understanding of how rolefulness develops based on individual characteristics.

Is Psi a Synchronization of Reciprocal Resonate Actions? Telepathy, and Intuition, as Examples

This paper suggests a hypothesis about the nature “Psi”; psychical experience. The suggested hypothesis concluded from rational logical introduction and related studies, as well. By inductive methodology, concluded from this paper that we are all linked to coherent neural networks that work in synchronized and reciprocal way. Our mirror neurons resonate and synchronize actions to join us with the whole, at anytime, anywhere, causing communication obviously noticed in Psi experiences. This communication happens when we have massive, urgent need with no ability to feed by regular ordinary daily common ways.
