Dictation is an ancient technique in teaching language becoming one of interesting ways to improve the students’ listening comprehension proposed by Davis & Rinvolucri (1988). This study was aimed to solve the students’ listening comprehension achievement by using dictation techniques as a technique in teaching listening at SMPN 35 Surabaya in the academic year 2020/2021. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was applied in this study in two cycles. In this classroom action research, the technique was divided into note taking and partial dictation. The primary data about students listening achievement were gained from the listening test. Meanwhile, the supporting data were gathered from observation and documentation. The results on students’ activity showed the use of text dictation techniques could improve the eighth-grade students’ activity in listening. Furthermore, In the first cycle of the test’ result, the teaching listening activity was not so good as what was expected. On the average, the percentage of the students’ involvement in the process of teaching listening was only 45% in the first meeting and 50% in the second meeting. But, in the second cycle the percentage of students’ involvement in the process of teaching listening increased from 77% in the first meeting to 80% in the second meeting. This improvement happened because of some revision, they were; choosing the text with familiar story for the students, reading the text more clearly, turning up the volume, and using more gestures in teaching listening technique

The aim of this research were to describe the implementation of Using G - Suite Docs to Improve Students’ Writing Ability at SMA Negeri 1 Batuan, Sumenep and to find out  the achievement of student’s writing ability in Using G - Suite at SMA Negeri 1 Batuan, Sumenep. The approach used in this research was classroom action research. Data collection tools in this study were observation sheets of learning management through G-Suite Docs media, student activity observation sheets and tests. The objects of this study were 25 students of class XII IPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Batuan even semester of the 2020/2021 school year. The research showed that the result of implementing of using G-Suite Docs showed that the students were more enthusiastic in writing discussion text and all students could respond to their group work by commenting on the process in writing. Moreover, the students achievement from the initial conditions up to second cycle. The average of initial condition was 66.6 changed to be 79.64 or increased 80% with the result of completeness reaching 92%.   Keywords: G - Suite Docs, Writing ability, Discussion Text

This research aimed to know whether by applying games and songs can increase students’ vocabulary. It was conducted at seventh grade of SMPN 8 Komodo. Games are a way to relax class routines for fun, games also can make students enthusiastic about playing, sometimes challenging. Songs be trusted to help students in memorizing vocabulary. Memorizing song can be used to increase students’ vocabulary. The students’ responses showed that they were interested in learning vocabulary through using games and songs. It can be seen from the students’ score on vocabulary test which increased from three vocabulary tests given in the Cycle I and Cycle II. In the students’ achievement Cycle I was 57,5 and Cycle II was 77,5. It can be concluded that games and songs have a significant impact on increasing students’ vocabulary number.

This research was Classroom Action Research. This research aimed at implementing stop motion video technique to improve students speaking ability of report text in junior high school and the students’ perception in implementation of stop motion video technique to improve the students’ speaking ability of report text. The subject of this research was the second grade of junior high school. The focus of this research was the students’ speking ability. The data were in the form of students’ speaking score. The data were obtained through conducting teaching learning process. The result of this research was that there were improvement in students’ speaking ability through Stop Motion Video technique in whole skills. The improvement was up to 40%-90%. They were pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and understanding. The students’ perception showed that all of the students were motivated after conducted this learning technique. This was showed by the questionnaires filled by the students.

The purposes of this study are: (1) To determine the effect of using Quizizz as a distance learning tool, and (2) To determine students' opinions of Quizizz as a distance learning tool. The participants of this study consisted of an English teacher and thirty-one eleventh-grade students. The data used in this study are in the form of interview results, description of students’ final grades, and the result of questionnaire. The method used is a mixed-method – qualitative and quantitative, with three instruments: Likert Scale questionnaire, interview, and students’ final score. The main findings of this study are: (1) Positive effects in increasing students’ learning motivation, competitiveness, and academic achievement in grammar and reading when using Quizizz as a distance learning tool, and (2) Students’ positive opinions towards Quizizz’s interesting appearance, challenging features, and their enjoy feelings while using Quizizz as distance learning tool.

The focus of this research is flouting maxim which is used by conversation on whatsapp message between Widya Eka Septiani and Edo Meggi Fernando as the students of English Education Study Program 2016. This research aims at: (1) describing the kinds of maxims flouted by conversation on whatsapp message between Widya Eka Septiani and Edo Meggi Fernando as the students of English Education Study Program 2016 and (2) revealing the reasons of flouting maxim showed by conversation on whatsapp message between Widya Eka Septiani and Edo Meggi Fernando as English Education’16. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative research. The results of the research show that (1) the flouting maxims in conversation between Widya Eka Septiani and Edo Meggi Fernando by whatsapp message is flouting maxim of relation, and (2) revealing the reasons of flouting maxim showed by by conversation on whatsapp message between Widya Eka Septiani and Edo Meggi Fernando.

Abstract This paper has three components. They are feedback, the way of learning, and vocabulary acquisition. This research was based on the learning situation that teachers and students have to conduct online learning because of the pandemic Covid 19. This paper elaborates the three components mentioned before. In the process of assessment, feedback is the important part. When students learning at school, teachers will give feedback directly. The way of giving feedback in language learning will influence students’ vocabulary acquisition. But, in different way of learning, teachers cannot give feedback directly as in the classroom. This situation gives different influence in students’ vocabulary acquisition. This study was conducted to describe the application of learning methods and media for slow learner children in order to improve the quality of slow learner children's learning during distance learning (PJJ). This research used qualitative research. Data collection techniques were observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data analysis techniques included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions and verification. Based on the results of the analysis, the following results were obtained: (1) The subject teacher in making a learning plan did not differentiate between the slow learner and the regular child, but still paid attention to the characteristics of the slow learner. (2) in implementing the distance learning process remained the same as for normal children. Models, methods, learning media were the same, namely by using online media with the same time duration as normal children, but for slow learners there is an additional 2 hours of learning time for every two weeks through face-to-face learning activities ( Offline) and accompanied by a Special Assistance Teacher were carried out in schools with due observance of health protocols, (3) Evaluation of the slow learners (slow learner) was still carried out by subject teachers, the results of which were a reference for the follow-up activities of Special Assistance Teachers to provide guidance

The aim of the study was to improve the students’ ability in speaking skill by applying Classroom Action Research (CAR) using a collaborative design. The procedures of the study consist of five steps, namely: preliminary study, planning, implementing the plan, observing the action, and reflecting on the action. The study was conducted in two cycles. The study was conducted at SMPN 35 Surabaya. It was applied in the first semester of the academic year 2020/2021. The subjects of the study were the ninth-grade students comprising 41 students. The data of the study were obtained from the following research instrument: observation and test. The improvement was indicated by the increasing of the students’ mean scores of speaking skill test administered at the end of students’ means score in preliminary study was indicated by the increasing of the students’ means score in preliminary study was 6.95 in the first cycle and 7.21 in the second cycle. Meanwhile, the percentage of increasing was from 46% (first cycle) to 75% (second cycle).

Abstract This research was aimed to describe the character education values used in the Avengers: End Game Movie. Movie is described as the series of moving pictures combined with sound effects. Character education values .This study applied library research as it described the results of study. The data of this study were the phenomena and facts classified into the character education values. The source of data were the facts or phenomena shown in the movie scenes and the movie transcription of Avengers: Endgame. This study used two instruments called: the researcher himself and the documentation. The object of this study was a movie entitled “Avengers: Endgame”. In collecting the data of this research, the researcher used documentary technique including watching the movie, reading the movie’s screenplay and taking a note. The researcher used the theory of content analysis (Ary, 2010) to analyze the data. Based on the results of the study, the researcher found nine types of character education values covering responsible, love and affection, honesty, hardworking, tolerant, curious, patriotic, creative, and communicative.
