Skin cancer, which is one of the most common types of cancer in the world, is a malignant growth seen on the skin due to various reasons. There was an increase in the number of the cases of skin cancer nearly 200% between 2004-2009. Since the ozone layer is depleting, harmful rays reflected from the sun cannot be filtered. In this case, the likelihood of skin cancer will increase over the years and pose more risks for human beings. Early diagnosis is very significant as in all types of cancers. In this study, a mobile application is developed in order to detect whether the skin spots photographed by using the machine learning technique for early diagnosis have a suspicion of skin cancer. Thus, an auxiliary decision support system is developed that can be used both by the clinicians and individuals. For cases that are predicted to have a risk higher than a certain rate by the machine learning algorithm, early diagnosis could be initiated for the patients by consulting a physician when the case is considered to have a higher risk by machine learning algorithm.

Melanoma is the type of skin cancer which will spread fast into the inner most layer of skin. The early detection of the skin tumor will avoid spreading of the disease, and also reduce the cancer cells. More methods are there to detect the harmful cancer present in the skin. Once the skin is infected by some disease, the patient should consult doctor and getting the suggestion from the doctor. The proposed work is used to early diagnosis of skin cancer at home before consulting doctor. The important aim in this proposed work is that it will find the cancer present in the skin using K-Means Algorithms. In this proposed system the input will be the image of the skin and the output will be the detection of the affected portion whether it is normal or abnormal. This proposed system helps us to save the time and gives the best result before consulting the doctor when compared with existing system.

Did you know the reason behind wearing sunscreen is more than just preventing a sunburn? Sun damage to the skin over a lifetime can lead to the most dangerous type of skin cancer, called melanoma. Melanoma is abnormal growth of the pigment-producing cells of the skin, the same types of cells that make up moles. Though rare in young people, the risk for melanoma increases with age. Melanoma in kids looks and acts differently than it does in adults, often making the diagnosis challenging for doctors. Early diagnosis is important so that the melanoma can be removed and treated before it spreads to other parts of the body. Protective actions done in childhood, such as wearing sunscreen, avoiding excessive sun exposure, and wearing protective clothing when out in the sun, will help to prevent melanoma later in life.

Melanoma is a malignant tumor deriving from neoplastic transformation of melanocytes. The incidence of melanoma has increased dramatically over the last 50 years. It accounts for most cases of skin cancer deaths. Early diagnosis leads to remission in 90% of cases of melanoma; conversely, for melanoma at more advanced stages, prognosis becomes more unfavorable also because dvanced melanoma is often resistant to pharmacological and radiological therapies due to genetic plasticity, presence of cancer stem cells that regenerate the tumor, and efficient elimination of drugs. This review illustrates the role of autophagy in tumor progression and resistance to therapy, focusing on molecular targets for future drugs.
