AbstractAssuming that a formerly unknown quantity and quality of market data triggered a revolution in marketing information, we explore international marketing strategies and the significance of marketing information systems in the context of the re-internationalization of the pharmaceutical enterprises Bayer and Schering after 1945. Both companies faced an information deluge, and in both cases, distinct approaches to a modern marketing information system can be observed since the mid-1960s.

The research is devoted to the substantiation of the necessity of innovative transformations of the value chain of pharmaceutical enterprises. The current state of the international pharmaceutical market and its development scenarios developed by the WTO were analyzed, taking into account the changes caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The typology of value chains is considered and their element-by-element characteristics are given. A new, modern model of interaction in the chain of value creation of products is proposed. The substantiation of efficiency of creation of such chains is given. Based on the correlation analysis, the presence of a linear relationship between the indicators of Pharmaceutical R&D Spend and Revenue was established. To maximize the effect of R&D costs, pharmaceutical companies are recommended to carry out innovative transformations of the value chain, involving external manufacturers of high-tech devices, applications, etc.

Pharmaceutical services are among the most accessible healthcare assistance systems worldwide, being provided generally in enterprises like Drugstores and Compounding Pharmacies. Pharmacists are highly accessible healthcare professionals considering also the availability, geographic distribution and location of pharmaceutical enterprises. However, there are several challenges for providing these services for patients with limitations such as low education, difficulties on reaching the Pharmacist, and the need for individualized monitoring (due to the complexity of therapy). Reports of low quality services are growing worldwide, and in order to expand access and improve the quality of pharmaceutical services, Pharmacists must move from being medication dispensers with focus in administrative management to a clinically-oriented practice with a humanistic view. The aim of this chapter is to make an approach on the implementation of effective strategies and ways to improve the quality of Pharmacists' work as specialized healthcare providers.

With the disruptive technology innovation time arrival, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been the motor of innovation and played an increasingly major role in national economic development. As the shift towards an ‘open innovation’ paradigm, awareness of intellectual property rights has increased, and patents have been an important tool for Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises. Considering its mass production of low-level generic drugs, there are still many arguments about its lack of innovation. This article aims to identify if and how patents, as essential indicators of innovation, generate financial performance measured by SMEs in the pharmaceutical sectors. Patent data are a vital source of competitive intelligence. A positive association was found between annually added patents and gross sales. Many other patent indicators, such as the number of forward citations and patent transfer, were statistically significant. Moreover, the results suggested that there was a one-year lag between patent publication and financial performance. A series of patent quantity and quality indicators have shown significant effects on the financial performance of Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises. These patents generate a positive financial impact, which builds up a solid basis for keeping sustainable innovation capability in the Chinese drug industry.

The results of laboratory experiments on nitroglycerine toxicity detected by histological and cytological indices are presented, using Danio rerio as a case study. For the first time, there are shown the changes in liver and kidneys, both at tissular and cellular levels, induced by administered concentrations of nitroglycerine. The results obtained appear to be important for water bodies’ preservation and elaboration of MPC standards. The intake of nitroglycerine into water bodies is due, mainly, to discharge from pharmaceutical enterprises, demolition works, and outflow from explosives storehouses. Fish turned out to be sensitive to nitroglycerine as indicated by histological and hematological indices. Maximum permissible concentration, MPC, for Danio rerio is determined to be equal to 0.5 mg/l.
