The longstanding unresolved issue of Kashmir serves as a nuclear flashpoint between India and Pakistan. Since 2019, the prevalent security environment of the region has dominated the discourse surrounding the regional and global security architecture. India’s policies during the Pulwama-Balakot crisis and the revocation of Kashmir’s constitutional status demonstrate the country’s intentions of dominating the escalation ladder in the region and marginalizing the muslim community of Kashmir. Because of the conventional disparity in South Asia where India is big interms of size, economy and military build-up, Pakistan has been further threatened by India’s aggressive policies and provocative military modernization. Consequently, Pakistan may be compelled to further revisit its nuclear threshold level to overcome India’s aggression.

ABSTRACTWhether filial piety or financial support to older parents is eroded or maintained through societal modernisation is an unresolved issue in China and a matter of widespread concern. Whereas structural-functionalist theories predict erosion, alternative views suggest that modernisation reduces filial piety only minimally or conditionally. One possible condition that resists the modernisation effect is education. The impacts of modernisation and its interaction with Chinese education are therefore the focus of this study. Using various sources, the paper reports analyses of the relationships between the levels of modernisation in six Chinese cities, measured by average gross domestic product per capita, the average wage and the percentage of the workforce that are employed in the service sector, and variations in expressions of filial piety and cash payments to parents. Representative samples of the cities' adult residents were used. It was found that filial piety and cash payments were lower when the citizen was in a city with higher or more advanced modernisation, and that the reduction in affirmations of filial piety associated with higher modernisation was less among citizens with higher education. It is concluded that educational policy and practice can be a means to sustain filial piety in the face of modernisation.

Many virus infections in man and other species are accompanied by immunosuppression. This is clearly important in terms of the susceptibility of the host to secondary infections. The immunosuppression may also aid and abet the growth and persistence of viruses. An unresolved issue is the extent to which the extent of this immunosuppression is determined by the virulence of the infecting virus or resistance factors in the host, and particularly by factors that are genetically determined. The mechanisms of viral immunosuppression are indirect and direct. Indirect mechanisms such as interferon production and suppressor cells induced by infection undoubtedly contribute to viral immunosuppression in experimental models of virus infection. In man the direct inactivation of immunologically responsive lymphocytes seems to be the most important mechanism. Moreover, the persistence of viruses in human lymphocytes is being increasingly recognized.

During a pandemic, one of the most important tasks is to track social contacts with those who are sick. This article categorizes projects that track these contacts. Projects are classified by architecture and the common components of such systems are highlighted. It is concluded that the hybrid architecture of such a solution based on an exclusive blockchain will have several advantages, and a conceptual model of such a system is described. However, an analysis of existing blockchain projects showed that their main problem is the unresolved issue of scaling such kinds of systems, which is becoming a key issue in the context of creating a global digital infrastructure of society. Further, the scaling of the system's conceptual model is assessed based on open-source information about the Moscow metro, and the main conclusions about the selected architectural solutions are confirmed.

The aim: The paper aims to analyze some aspects of the contemporary discourse which concern the determination of the content and specificity of the right to clone. It also outlines the main trends in the development of legal regulation of cloning within international and national law and order. Materials and methods: Methodologically, this work is based on the system of methods, scientific approaches, techniques and principles with the help of which the realization of the research aim is carried out. There have been applied universal, general scientific and special legal methods. Conclusions: Regarding the findings of the study it is necessary to note the following. First, if there is a shared negative vision of the feasibility of reproductive cloning in general, which is enshrined in international and national legislation, the need for therapeutic cloning remains an unresolved issue. Secondly, medicine advances and accordingly sees new perspectives and innovative developments in the field of therapeutic activity, in particular, related to the results of therapeutic cloning, which can help in the fight against incurable diseases. Hence, there is the necessity of further research aimed at the improvement of the existing mechanisms for implementing therapeutic cloning, and determining its limits and procedural aspects.

Relativistic density functional calculations have been carried out on the model cluster Au55(PH3)12Cl6 assuming a cuboctahedral or an icosahedral Au55 metal core to model the experimentally suggested cluster compound assigned as Au55[P(C6H5)3]12Cl6. Besides the overall shape of the metal core, the study focused on the unresolved issue at which sites the chlorine ligands are attached. The calculations reproduce characteristic interatomic distances within ∼ 2 pm, with the exception of the Au-Cl bonds. Chlorine ligands were calculated to prefer higher coordinated sites whereas the previously postulated on-top coordination at the center of the Au (100) facets of a cuboctahedron was found to be unstable. In fact, the present model results suggest an ensemble of several higher coordinated sites. The often assumed cuboctahedral shape of the metal cluster core was determined to be slightly less stable than an approximately icosahedral shape. The calculations allow a rationalization of the difficulties faced in experiments that attempted to discriminate cluster isomers

Background/Aims: Severe metabolic acidosis during cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an important and yet unresolved issue. The potential use of hemodialysis for severe metabolic acidosis during cardiopulmonary resuscitation was investigated. Methods: Acute hemodialyses between January 2012 and April 2017 were reviewed for patients with concomitant hemodialysis and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In addition, MEDLINE was searched for similar reports. Data were extracted from hospital records. Results: Two patients (36M, 70F) were found to study, without similar reports in MEDLINE. Cardiac arrests (in-hospital) occurred due to severe metabolic acidosis in both patients (due to ethylene glycol and metformin intoxications, respectively). Return of spontaneous circulation could not be obtained within the first 28 and 30 min of cardiopulmonary resuscitation only, whereas both patients had return of spontaneous circulation following at least 45 min of concomitant hemodialysis and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. One patient (70F) was discharged with good neurological outcome, but the other died. Conclusion: The addition of high-efficiency hemodialysis during cardiopulmonary resuscitation may contribute to the return of spontaneous circulation in patients with severe metabolic acidosis due to intoxication.
