Abstract This paper describes the design of a testing environment for massive assessment of assignments for Android application programming courses. Specific testing methods and tool suggestions are continuously consulted with Wirecard company, dedicated to the development of mobile applications. The paper also analyzes the most common mistakes of students and suggests ways to uncover them through tests. Based on these, it creates tests, compares the performance of the emulator and real device tests, and the proposed tools are partially retrospectively tested on assignments from the previous run of a particular Android application programming course. From partial results the paper suggests changes for the course in relation to the testing environment and deploys it in the background of the course alongside the manual evaluation. It describes testing experience, analyzes the results and suggests changes for the future

<p class="0abstract">In order that mobile applications can be employed successfully in education, the opinions of teachers for using these applications must be identified and improved. For these reasons, the purpose of this study is to identify the opinions of teacher candidates, who are teachers of the future, on the usage of mobile applications in the process of multimedia project development. This study which was conducted with the purpose of identifying the opinions of teacher candidates on usage of mobile applications in education as means of communication employed qualitative method. Results is that using mobile applications in multimedia project development process attracted the attention of students and ensured effective communication.</p><p class="0abstract"> </p>

This paper examines the home monitoring system used in our Department of Cardiology in the Future Internet Social Technological Alignment in Healthcare (FI-STAR) project - a project focused on secondary prevention in cardiology (www.fi-star.eu). The system used is composed of bluetooth capable medical devices that collect vital parameters though CardioStar application (an application that was developed in collaboration with computer engineers. The collected data are transmitted in real time to a central server in our hospital, where there is a continuous supervision of the parameters. We evaluated this system in order to prove its use in reducing the cardiovascular risk and increasing the adherence to the life-style changes. This paper presents the analysis of the MAST (Model for Assessment of Telemedicine) evaluation - which is the best way of evaluation for the telemedicine solutions - from the professional point of view. The questionnaires of evaluation were performed anonymous on a online platform. The application passed successfully the MAST evaluation, demonstrating that the developed telemedicine system designed for our cardiac patients fulfills its purpose in the secondary prevention.

ObjectiveTo report the interim results from the training of providers inevidence-based psychotherapies (EBPs) and use of mobile applications.Design and SettingThe Partnerships in Research to Implement and Disseminate Sustainable and Scalable Evidence (PRIDE) study is a cluster-randomised hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial comparing three delivery pathways for integrating comprehensive mental healthcare into primary care in Mozambique. Innovations include the use of EBPs and scaling-up of task-shifted mental health services using mobile applications.Main outcome measuresWe examined EBP training attendance, certification, knowledge and intentions to deliver each component. We collected qualitative data through rapid ethnography and focus groups. We tracked the use of the mobile applications to investigate early reach of a valid screening tool (Electronic Mental Wellness Tool) and the roll out of the EBPsParticipantsPsychiatric technicians and primary care providers trained in the EBPs.ResultsPRIDE has trained 110 EBP providers, supervisors and trainers and will train 279 community health workers in upcoming months. The trainings improved knowledge about the EBPs and trainees indicated strong intentions to deliver the EBP core components. Trained providers began using the mobile applications and appear to identify cases and provide appropriate treatment.ConclusionsThe future of EBPs requires implementation within existing systems of care with fidelity to their core evidence-based components. To sustainably address the vast mental health treatment gap globally, EBP implementation demands: expanding the mental health workforce by training existing human resources; sequential use of EBPs to comprehensively treat mental disorders and their comorbid presentations and leveraging digital screening and treatment applications.

BACKGROUND Smart healthcare devices are being increasingly employed to support medical services, and evidence has shown promising results in using such tools for smoking cessation, but there has been no scoping review on this topic so far and the trends of research in this area has not been fully examined. This review provides a comprehensive evaluation of research in this area. OBJECTIVE This scoping review aimed to analyze the research trends in this area to speculate on the future of smart health devices for smoking cessation. METHODS The study was based on the methodology of scoping review. Literature searches were done in PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE using terms related to smart healthcare. Titles, abstracts, and full reports were reviewed independently by two reviewers. Papers were included if they focused on discussing smart healthcare interventions for smoking cessation. Data were extracted independently by two reviewers. RESULTS Searches identified 3982 references and 25 papers were included in the scoping review. Mobile applications was the most numerous category of studies, making up 56% (n=14) of all studies and this had increased markedly in recent 5 years. We identified 6 types of outcome measures. Besides quit rate, user attitude was the most frequently measured outcome, accounting for 44% (n=11) of the studies. Nine studies targeted special populations other than general adult smokers, nearly half (n=4) of which targeted adolescents or young adults. CONCLUSIONS Besides quit rate, the researchers put most focus on user attitude. Use of mobile applications seem to be the mainstream in the future among smart healthcare interventions for smoking cessation. Future research including more keywords related to smart healthcare interventions is needed for a comprehensive understanding of this field.

For English teachers listening fluency is a fundamental competency for their professional development. Listening is one of the most complicated and problematic aspects of learning English, as it leads to high mental strain. The objective of the research is to study mobile learning as a means to improve listening comprehension skills of the future English teachers. The tasks of the research are as follows: to identify and work out the theoretical framework for mobile applications use and their role in teaching English; to present the pilot study of the role of mobile learning in students’ autonomous work, in particular for listening comprehension skills improvement. The following methods were used: theoretical (theoretical-and-methodological analysis, classification and systematization of scientific sources, comparison and generalization of the theoretical and experimental research data), empirical (observation, testing), data processing methods (generalization and systematization of qualitative and quantitative results of the empirical research); methods of mathematical statistics (evaluation of experimental data by the arithmetic mean calculation). Upon the theoretical analysis results, the categories of mobile applications and their role in teaching English were identified. The survey showed that the students use mobile learning insufficiently and ineffectively. The research on the use of mobile learning as a means to improve the future English teachers’ listening comprehension skills was conducted. This required selection of several mobile applications (Duolingo, LinguaLeo, Learning English with New York Times, Polyglot 16 EnglishPod - Learn English, Bussu), the main selection criterion being the availability of tasks and texts for listening. The results of the term listening comprehension test showed that the students of the experimental groups who studied using mobile learning scored higher than those of the control groups, which proved relevance and effectiveness of mobile learning use as a means to improve the future teachers’ of the English language listening comprehension skills.

The article tackles the problem of the existence of algorithms in selected services and Internet websites. The interfacing of media is the starting point for this discourse, aimed at presenting the processes of automation in information distribution, the individualisation of messages and profiling in websites. The threats resulting from dynamically developing enterprises aimed at providing the website user with artificial intelligence – in terms of both social networks and mobile applications – are explicated in detail. The examples presented in the article refer to Internet recommendation systems, e-mail applications, voice assistants, and mechanisms responsible for the functioning of social networks. Speculations on algorithms omnipresent on the Web lead us to reflect on how the journalism will be redefined in the future, since it seems that the role of the journalist will be to moderate discussion and select the themes to be discussed; it is quite likely, though, that the themes selected will be compiled by specialised software.

Nowadays, instant messaging applications (apps) are one of the most popular applications for mobile devices with millions of active users. However, mobile devices present hardware and software characteristics and limitations compared with personal computers. Hence, to address the usability issues of mobile apps, a specific methodology must be conducted. This paper shows the findings from a systematic analysis of these applications on iOS mobile platform that was conducted to identify some usability issues in mobile applications for instant messaging. The overall process includes a Keystroke-Level Modeling and a Mobile Heuristic Evaluation. In the same trend, we propose a set of guidelines for improving the usability of these apps. Based on our findings, this analysis will help in the future to create more effective mobile applications for instant messaging.
