The aim of this research is to investigate whether there is a meaningful difference in the academic success, between the students who are applied the "formula t-shirt method" (experimental group) and the students who are not (in other classes of the school), in the education for the scientists wanted to be taught in the secondary school 5th, 6th and 7th grade science textbooks. Semi-experimental method was used as research method. In the 6th grade, 27 students participated in this study as experimental group (students wearing t-shirts) and 49 students in the other classes of the school that did not participate in the study. Academic achievement test including pre-test and post-test, informative observations, students’ and teacher’s interviews as well as 20 printed t-shirts were used to collect data. The pilot study of the developed achievement test was applied in another school and also the item analysis of it was performed. According to the research findings, when the experimental group’s success post-test results from the application performed, were examined in line with the interviews, significant differences were observed. It was seen that the subjects aimed to be gained with the formula t-shirt method, were adopted by the students and also increased their success. Looking at the results of the research, thanks to wearing the t-shirts prepared by using the human body on the background, and the reconciliation of the students wearing with the scientists on t-shirts, the desired learning was provided. This also contributed to such learning techniques as peer learning, active learning, social learning in terms of visuality and integrity. It is thought that these materials developed with the formula t-shirt method, will also inspire researchers for future studies in terms of their usability in other fields and subjects

Tests in schools can be informative. However, the Department of Education administered a set of examinations like the National Achievement Test which is designed to determine the learner's achievement level, strengths, and weaknesses in five curricular subject areas at the end of the school year. The study intended to look into the relationship between academic performance in Mathematics and NAT results. There has been a purposive universal sampling design. It is purposive because the research is only studying the academic performance in Mathematics, and universal because the subjects of the study are all the grade six pupils of Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center for four consecutive school years. Documentary analysis was used as to the data of existing records on the academic performance and National Achievement Test results in Mathematics. The association between academic achievement and NAT outcomes in Mathematics was investigated using correlation analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The analyses revealed that there is a significant correlation between the pupil's academic performance and NAT results. Also, there is a significant degree of variance in the student's performance as to National Achievement Test Results in four consecutive school years.

AbstractThis study is based on 145 pairs of twins included in a longitudinal study of a cohort of singletons born in 1953 and living in the Stockholm metropolitan area in 1963. Of these 145 pairs, 28 were classified as MZ, 103 as DZ and 14 pairs could not be classified. School achievement and ability test results have been collected for this group as well as data for the boys from physical and mental examinations on enrollment to military service. The purpose of this study was to compare within-pair similarity for MZ and DZ twins from birth onwards. There seems to be a divergent trend over time for MZ twin pairs to become more similar and DZ twin pairs to become less similar in height growth, school achievement and verbal ability. This is in accordance with previous research in this field. In relating similarity within pairs to birthweight, we found a drop in within-pair similarity for low birthweight MZ and DZ twin pairs (both twins ≤2.500 g), but not for normal weight twin pairs. A discussion is initiated concerning methodological implications of these results.

The relationship between locus of control and achievement is clarified by disaggregating achievement into a momentary event (standardized test results) and continuing state (grade-point average) utilizing a path diagram approach. Although there are no substantial correlations among socioeconomic status, sex, and locus of control in this study, the three variables predict school achievement as a continuing state ( R = 33) considerably better than they do as a momentary event ( R = .56) of 174 students in Grade 8.

The purpose of this study was to determine the achievement of student learning outcomes usingproblem posing model in SMA Negeri I Taniwel. This type of research was descriptive. Random samplingtechnique was conducted to determine the sample of research that is class XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri I Taniwel.Technique of data analysis in the form of analysis of student achievement test result based on referencebenchmark rating or reference standard. Formative test results (posttest) showed that most statements haveachieved higher scores, after getting treatment through the problem posing model applied. The resultsshowed that the problem posing model can help students in achieving good physics learning outcomes, especially on business and energy concepts with a final value of 82.6.

Kata kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, penemuan terbimbing, berpikir kritis, motivasi belajar matematika Developing of guided inquiry-based learning to increase critical thinking and motivation to learn on geometry in junior high school AbstractThis research is aimed to describe the development phase of guided inquiry-based learning package to increase critical thinking ablity and motivation to learn mathematics on solid figures and describe the quality of the developed product. The learning package consist of syllabus, 3 lesson plans, 8 handouts, 8 student work sheets, a competency achievement test on plane solid figure; and syllabus, 3 lesson plans, 2 handouts, 4 student work sheets, a competency achievement test on curve solid figure. This research is a developmental research study. The model of the instructional package in this research was adapted from 4-D development model. It consisted of five phases: define, design, develop, dan disseminate. The result of validation by expert jugdement shows that the kit that is developed is of valid category for each learning kit that has been developed. The aspects of practicality was of very practice category as seen from the evaluation by the teachers, evaluation by the students, and implementation of the learning. The aspect of effectiveness could be reached from the competency achievement test results, critical thinking ability test results, and the results of questionnaires of student’s motivation to learn mathematics. The result of this research is an instructional package component on solid figures is valid, practical, and effective. Keywords: development, instructional package, guided inquiry, critical thinking, motivation to learn mathematics
