Background: Knee osteoarthritis is a musculoskeletal condition which is most prevalent in the medial compartment. This injury causes considerable pain, disability, and negative changes in kinetic and kinematic parameters. The efficiency of unloader valgus brace as a conservative treatment for medial knee osteoarthritis is not well documented. Objectives: The aim of this study was to review the previous research regarding the biomechanical effects of knee valgus braces on walking in medial compartment knee osteoarthritis patients. Study design: Literature review Methods: According to the population intervention comparison outcome measure methods and based on selected keywords, 12 studies were chosen according to (met) the inclusion criteria. Results: The results indicated that treatment with knee braces was effective in decreasing pain, improving function, ameliorating improvement in range of motion, and increasing speed of walking and step length in conjunction with a reduction in the adduction moment applied to the knee. Conclusion: Osteoarthritis knee braces may be considered for improvement of walking and treatment of medial compartment knee osteoarthritis. Clinical relevance Knee braces are an orthotic intervention that could potentially be significant in assisting in improving the walking parameters and treatment of medial compartment knee osteoarthritis.

This study describes knee alignment and active knee range of motion (ROM) in a community-based group of 78-year old adults (n = 143) who did not have radiographic evidence of knee osteoarthritis in either knee (KL < 2). Although knee malalignment is a risk factor for knee osteoarthritis, most women and men had either valgus or varus alignments. Notably, no men were valgus in both knees. Women with both knees valgus had significantly greater body mass index ( P > 0.001) than women with varus or straight knees. Men and women with valgus or varus knee alignments had generally lower ROM than individuals with both knees straight. In summary, this study highlights the complex relationships among knee alignment, ROM, body mass index, and gender in elderly adults without radiographic knee osteoarthritis.

There have been few studies in English literature identifying the potential association and clinical significance of MATN-3 rs8176070 (SNP6) polymorphism in patients with primary knee Osteoarthritis Knee. Objective of this paper was to evaluate the association of matrilin gene-3 and primary osteoarthritis of knee through systematic review of these studies. We did an extensive literature using relevant keywords .3 eligible studies were included for systematic review. Two studies showed significant association, in which Patients with the B\b genotype had worse clinical and radiological findings than those with B\B and b\b genotype. The third study in Indian population did not find any correlation. On the basis of this systematic review we can safely suggest that there is dearth of such studies in literature therefore more of such studies with wider and larger study population shall be undertaken to find Correlation of genetic in this multifactorial disorder and possible cure.

Abstract Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis became quite common in Vietnam due to aging the population and improving the life. There are many modalities of treatments for knee osteoarthritis, depending on age, level of activity, and stage of osteoarthritis. The aim of study is to evaluate the effectiveness of arthroscopic surgery for knee osteoarthritis at Viet Duc University Hospital. Method: 60 patients with knee osteoarthritis have been treated by arthroscopy in the Department of Lower Extremities Surgery from 02/2017 - 02/2018 enrolled. 55 Patients were followed up from 6 months to 18 months after surgery. Pain was measured with Lequesne’s scale and with ROM Lysholm J at the re-examination. Result: The majority of the patients were female with osteoarthritis in 1 compartment of the knee joint, mostly in the interior compartment. At 6-month follow up, pain was reduced and knee ROM was significantly improved.. Conclusion: Knee osteoarthritis is a chronic condition that gets worse with ages, knee arthroscopy helps to delay the arthroplasty. Key word: Knee osteoarthritis, Knee arthroscopy.
