Purpose. Еxperimental substantiation of the effectiveness of biocompatible biodegradable hydrogels based on hyaluronic acid and chitosan succinate as a carrier of ranibizumab in antiglaucoma operations. Material and methods. Hydrogel drainage (HD) was obtained immediately before surgery. A solution of ranibizumab (0.23 ml) was mixed with a solution of hyaluronic acid dialdehyde (0.5 ml), then a solution of chitosan succinate (0.5 ml) was added. Experimental studies were performed in 12 (12 eyes) healthy rabbits. The first group consisted of 6 eyes – 0.187 ml of ranibizumab per 1 ml of gel. In the control group, HD was used intraoperatively without the addition of ranibizumab (6 eyes). Morphological studies were performed on 7th, 21st, and 42nd days. Results. In experimental studies in vitro and in vivo, it was proved that ranibizumab, administered as a part of 0.1 ml of hydrogel drainage in the antiglaucoma surgery area is released within 3 weeks and suppresses vascularization, scarring of the operating area, and preserves the intrascleral cavity. The optimal concentration of ranibizumab was selected-0.02 ml in 0.1 ml of gel. Conclusion. The safety and effectiveness of the use of hydrogel drainage with ranibizumab based on hyaluronic acid dialdehyde and chitosan succinate in anti-glaucoma operations has been proven. BACKGROUND: During the masticatory cycle, loads of different intensities and directions are received by the dental structures and/or implants, which can cause micromovements at the junction between the abutment and implant. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate the behavior of three different implant connections subjected to different load values using a digital radiography system. Additionally, the torque values for removing the abutment screws were also measured and compared. METHODS: Ninety sets of implant and abutment (IA) were used, divided into three groups according to the type of connection (n = 30 per group): EH group, external hexagon type connection; IH group, internal hexagon connection; and, MT group, Morse taper connection. RESULTS: MT group showed the better vertical misfit behavior at the three intensity of load applied, in comparison with EH and IH groups. In the analysis of torque maintenance (detorque test), MT group showed higher values of detorque when compared with the measured values of EH and IH groups (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The IA sets of EH and IH groups showed a microgap in all levels of applied loads, unlike the MT group this event was not observed. In the detorque test, MT group increase in the torque values when compared to the initial torque applied, unlike EH and IH groups showed a decrease in the initially torque applied in all conditions tested. A positive correlation was detected between the misfit and detorque values.

Sperm immobilization factor (SIF), the secretory protein of Staphylococcus aureus, is known to cause complete immobilization, death and morphological alterations in mouse spermatozoa in vitro. However, the present study aims to explore a newer dimension of SIF i.e., to bind to motile and non-motile bacteria and its ability to induce immobilization of motile bacteria in vitro. The results showed that 800µg of SIF caused complete immobilization of motile bacteria, however, death and morphological alterations could not be observed even with 1000µg of SIF. Furthermore, this SIF-mediated bacterial immobilization was reversed when each of the SIF-binding receptor from mouse spermatozoa and bacteria (Escherichia coli and Streptococcus pyogenes) was incubated with bacteria, thereby, providing an experimental evidence of similarity between the antigenic determinants present on spermatozoa and bacteria against a common ligand, SIF.

The present experimental study was aimed to overcome the traditional methods of propagation that limit the number of propagules by in-vitro regeneration through nodal explants of Dendrocalamus hamiltonii with a comparative study of growth regulators during the shooting and rooting process. Dendrocalamus hamiltonii is distributed from the Himalayas (Nepal) to the northern part of Burma. Collection of explants was done from different selected sites of CPTs. There was the use of HgCl2 and Ca (OCl)2 as sterilizing agents in different concentrations and its effect was visualized during the sprouting stage. Culm explants were cultured in a bottle containing White media (Wm) supplemented with BA and Kinetin for sprouting and IAA, IBA, NAA for rooting. There is also the use of IAA+IBA+NAA in combined form as a supplementary solution 0.1% HgCl2 treatment for 20-minute results into77.80% aseptic buds and 72% bud -break. Among the used growth-hormones, BA with concentration 0.25mg/l and 0.50mg/l respectively were appropriate for shoot-multiplication rate, 4.01±0.3 and 4.3±0.4 were ideal observation incorporation with BA (1.00mg/l) and BA (1.50mg/l) respectively. Maximum sprouting rate14.77±3.37with application of BA (2.00mg/l) and maximum shoot length4.3±0.4 is observed at BA (1.50mg/l). The applications of rooting hormone IAA+IBA+NAA in the concentration of 1.0 mg/l results in 72.5±0.3(rooting) and 11.1±0.3 (av. No. of the root).
