AbstractRenewable energy (RE) plays an increasingly important role in the economy of almost every country in the world. In order to examine the state of renewable energy (RE) in Mazowieckie Voivodeship (Poland), a literature review was carried out, anonymous surveys were conducted, a SWOT (Strenghts, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) and TOWS analysis were carried out and the potential of RE in Mazowieckie voivodship was estimated. The total capacity of all installations is equal to 712 MW. In recent months, number of prosumers have increased to 11,742 in the Voivodeship, and the capacity of their installations is estimated at 66 MW. Simplification of legal regulations and educating society is strongly recommended. Respondents in the survey and SWOT analysis on the future of the energy sector in Mazowieckie Voivodeship show that solar energy (35.5% of respondents) and wind energy (24.5% of respondents) have the greatest chances for the development. Development of the RE sector in the Voivodeship means new jobs, both in this sector and around it. Significant RE potential together with large project financing possibilities may cause Mazowieckie Voivodeship to be a leader in RE production in Poland. It is this Voivodeship (with its capital Warsaw) that can serve as an example of the energy transformation towards 100% RE.

South Africa is been faced with erratic power supply, resulting in persistent load shedding due to ageing in most of its coal-fired power plants. Associated with generating electricity from fossil fuel are environmental consequences such as greenhouse emissions and climate change. On the other hand, the country is endowed with abundant renewable energy resources that can potentially ameliorate its energy needs. This article explores the viability of renewable energy using the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis approach on the key renewable potential in the country. The result indicates that geographic position, political and economic stability and policy implementation are some of the strengths. However, Government bureaucratic processes, level of awareness and high investment cost are some of the weaknesses. Several opportunities favour switching to renewable energy, and these include regional integration, global awareness on climate change and the continuous electricity demand. Some threats hindering the renewable energy sector in the country include land ownership, corruption and erratic climatic conditions. Some policy implications are suggested based on the findings of the study.

As known, Latvia also does not possess unanimous opinion about the renewable energy resources. Renewable Energy has become an inevitable one in the world of power sector. Especially country like India (the second largest populated) powering the entire nation is not an easy thing. Typically we depend upon conventional energy sources which is to be dissipate at any point of time. Therefore now we are returning back to the pavilion, started using non conventional energy sources like our ancestors. Unlike conventional sources, the nonconventional sources are profuse in nature. These sources will be even more effective when coordination comes into picture. Mostly coordination will be done with wind and solar predominantly. The German federal government has set very high targets for renewable energy. In recent years, Germany’s renewable energy has developed rapidly. Germany leads the world in energy transformation, with wind and solar generating capacity accounting for nearly half. Germany’s experience and practice in developing renewable energy are worthy of our country’s reference. In this paper, the development status of renewable energy and power grid in Germany is introduced. And this paper mainly analyzes Germany’s experience and practice in achieving a high proportion of new energy access in 2019.

Hydrogen is emerging as an alternate carrier of energy. It has the potential to play a key role in the decarbonisation of the energy sector. Governments around the world and in Australia are signalling interest in moving the hydrogen economy forward. Current efforts are focused on developing hydrogen visions and strategies, supported by investments and partnerships with industry to progress technology and unlock the barriers across the hydrogen value chain. KPMG has worked with CSIRO, ATCO Gas and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) in the development of a Hydrogen City tool (H2City Tool) (available for public download from the ARENA website). The H2City Tool assists users with screening communities that may be suitable for transitioning to a hydrogen-based energy future and provides two broad pathways: a hydrogen pathway and an electrification pathway, allowing a relative comparison to be made between these options. This abstract provides a summary of outcomes arising from analysis performed by KPMG using the H2City Tool, which illustrates the conditions and viability of several pathways to convert to a hydrogen-based energy future. These pathways were: Scenario 1 – converting a large metropolitan community to hydrogen; Scenario 2 – adopting hydrogen to fuel transport at scale; Scenario 3 – adopting hydrogen in electricity grid firming at scale; and Scenario 4 – adopting the concept of hydrogen hubs in regional Australia.

The world energy industry today is at a new stage of development, which is characterized by the strengthening of integration processes, the development of new technologies in the field of extraction and production of energy resources. The energy sector of Kazakhstan was designed with the understanding that it was part of the energy sector of the Soviet Union. Today Kazakhstan follows international development trends in the field of energy. To make a reliable forecast of the Kazakhstani energy sector, it is necessary to look at the global processes in the development of the world energy industry. There are several organizations that have this information. These are the International Energy Agency (IEA), the UN, the World Bank, large-scale international companies, etc. In forecasting energy consumption in Kazakhstan, as part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), it is important to look at the forecasts for the EAEU member countries. This article provides basic information on forecasting the growth of electricity consumption in the world and in Kazakhstan, based on various sources. It also provides a comparative analysis of the use of various sources of electrical energy. A detailed analysis of the energy sector of Kazakhstan and the prospects for the use of renewable energy in Kazakhstan are considered.

PurposeGreen entrepreneurs driven by environmental concerns stand at the heart of greening the economic activities right from their inception. This study aims to conceptualize this emerging concept in the context of developing nations by identifying the factors that shape the green entrepreneurship ecosystem with special reference to the solar energy sector in Gujarat.Design/methodology/approachThis study is exploratory in nature and relies on secondary literature available on green entrepreneurship. Case study approach has been used for which primary data has been collected by formal scheduled interviews of three green entrepreneurs operating in the renewable energy sector of Gujarat, India. Cross-case analysis has been taken up to analyze the findings.FindingsThis study offers valuable insights into the major motivations and barriers as well as policy suggestions to foster an environment of green entrepreneurship, particularly in the renewable energy sector of India.Research limitations/implicationsBecause of the chosen approach wherein only three case studies have been considered of green entrepreneurs operating in the renewable energy sector of Gujarat, the results cannot be generalized, as they are also sector specific. Further researches can take up more quantitative approaches to make the results generalizable and extend them to other sectors.Practical implicationsExploring the opportunities and challenges of green entrepreneurship in renewable energy sector has significant sector specific policy implications for developing countries like India.Originality/valueGreen entrepreneurship’ is a relevant but under-researched topic, especially in the developing nations’ context. This study adds to the literature by making a sector specific analysis of green entrepreneurs in renewable energy sector of Gujarat.

The relevance of the subject matter is conditioned upon the fact that currently the main direction of global energy development is already clearly visible: under the influence of changes in energy policy and the development of new technologies, the world is entering the stage of the fourth energy transition to the widespread use of renewable energy sources and displacement of fossil fuels. The development of Kazakhstan's economy requires the transition of energy towards clean and safe renewable sources, which will let the country build a new strong economy and break out of the long-running socio-economic decline, help the international community solve the problem of climate change and improve the safety and welfare of its citizens. The purpose of the study: The purpose of the paper is to develop recommendations for the development of Kazakhstan's energy industry at a new stage in the fundamental transformation of the global energy system. Leading approach to researching the problem. The leading methods of researching the problems of the paper include the analysis of theoretical sources, analysis of statistics, and comparison. Analysis of statistical indicators plays a crucial role in the study, since data on the development of Kazakhstan's energy industry can be directly obtained from statistical databases. The results of the study. The paper discusses the essence of the fourth energy transition, its main aspects, explores renewable energy sources, identifies the features and problems of Kazakhstan's energy industry, and develops ways to solve them. Prospects for further research. To implement the modern provisions of the fourth energy transition in Kazakhstan, it is necessary to use a systematic approach. The basic elements of such a transition are the introduction of renewable energy and energy efficiency (the intensification of reducing the energy intensity of goods and services). The materials of the paper are of practical value for the development of Kazakhstan’s energy during the period of fundamental structural transformations of the world energy sector.

The article considers the trends in the development of renewable energy in the world and in Ukraine. It is proved that renewable energy is an important and promising energy sector in the world. It is shown that at the present stage of development, all civilized countries are developing their economies through the use of renewable energy sources, which are gradually displacing the old power plants using exhaustive fossil fuels, which pollute the atmosphere. The history of renewable energy development is revealed. The investment attractiveness of this energy sector in the countries of the world is characterized. On the basis of statistical data and preliminary studies of scientists, modern structural changes in the investment market of renewable energy in the world were evaluated. It is shown that Ukraine is part of European dozens of investments in green energy. The volume of supply of primary energy in the world and Europe, the power of renewable energy in leaders, regions of the world and Ukraine is presented. A review of the current state of renewable energy in developed countries and Ukraine has been carried out. Quantitative characteristics for different renewable energy sectors are analyzed: hydro, solar and wind power and other. Examples of the largest solar, hydroelectric power plants on the planet and Ukraine are given. It is shown that in the countries of the world and Ukraine there is a powerful potential and there is a positive tendency to more intensive use of renewable energy sources. It has been found that in 2020, for the first time in history, the share of RES in the structure of electricity in Europe has exceeded the proportion of fossil fuels due to the expansion of energy from the sun and the sun. The development of renewable energy in the planet also promotes the introduction in many countries and in Ukraine "Green Tariffs" and "Green" for electricity. It is positive that Ukraine has joined the European Energy Community and undertaken a joint regulatory policy with EU countries, develop and implement measures for renewable energy in the country. The prospects for the development of renewable energy sources in the countries of the world and Ukraine are determined.

Environmental goals can be essential for the realization of modern organization strategies, especially in the case of renewable energy sector company’s development in Poland. The aim of this article is to discover different strategies formulated by Polish energy supply companies as a result of the green management. The tools to analyse this type of management and to indicate the common direction of undertaken activities are the SWOT analysis and the Hellwig’s taxonometric method. These common points can be described by some factors which are related to the creation of green jobs and the reduction of environmental impact. This analytical study explains and describes possible strategies types, which were implemented in companies of studied sector. Therefore, multicriteria analysis of strategy measurement indicators method was used in this article. Performed analysis can open future research area to examine greening of other sectors.
