With the requirement of fundamental and comprehensive reform of education, the coaching for managers in school is becoming urgent. The current model of regular coaching for managers in Vietnamese school is showing many shortcomings, failing to satisfy the requirements of educational reform in the current period. To solve this problem, different models and approaches may be used. The school manager training model using the LMS / TEMIS system is proposed to emphasize the role of self-study and selftraining; apply the achievements of information technology; promote the role of core educational managers and strengthen the relationships between leading experts at educational universities, academies of Vietnam and local educational institutions.

I examined the relationships among private tutoring in mathematics, self-study, and academic achievement, in particular, the potential mediating role of self-study in the relationship between private tutoring and academic achievement. The responses of 3,689 Korean middle school students were analyzed. Results showed that private tutoring time positively predicted self-study time and academic achievement. Number of hours of self-study also predicted academic achievement and mediated the relationship between private tutoring and academic achievement. These findings showed that private tutoring increased the time students spent on self-study rather than replacing it. In addition, the positive effect of private tutoring on academic achievement was mediated by increased self-study time. Practical and theoretical implications are discussed.

The present study aimed to explore the role of English songs in Saudi students’ self-learning of English as a foreign language. The study employed one data collection tool which was an online questionnaire. The questionnaire was completed by 38 Saudi students at the Community College of King Saud University in the second semester of the academic year 2020. The examination and analysis of the data showed that listening to English songs motivated the Saudi students to learn English in a self-study mode, augmented their English vocabulary, improved their speaking skill and developed their spelling or writing skill to a considerable extent. It is, therefore, recommended that more large-scale quantitative or qualitative studies on the role of English songs in Saudi students’ self-learning of English as a foreign language be conducted to confirm the findings of the present study, challenge them or yield new ones.

The philosophy of education is formed on the basis of globalization processes that determine the development of the world community. Continuing education, taking into account all the objective changes in the educational sphere and the achievements of various sciences in understanding the role of man in his life, is an important condition for effective activity in this community. This article discusses the relevance of using andragogical approaches and principles in the system of continuing education. This is due to new requirements for the system of training and retraining of personnel in modern conditions, when the goals and practice of education are outstripping in nature, focused on the training of highly qualified specialists. Andragogical principles determine the organization of the learning process of teachers and students in the continuing education system (principles of the priority of self-study of students; the student’s joint activities with the teacher in organizing the process of their learning; reliance on the experience of the student, used as one of the sources of training; individualization of instruction; systematic training; contextual learning; updating learning outcomes; learning electives; development of educational needs of students; mindfulness learning). The use of andragogical approaches and principles in the system of continuing education in the future involves the development and implementation of the andragogical model, the use of modern educational technologies, and the training of andragogical specialists.

The role of smartphones within education has received a lot of media and academic attention. This has typically focused on their use in the classroom, within tutor-directed sessions. However, less has been focused on how smartphone use is negotiated within self-study. Using semi-structured interviews, the current study sought to explore final year undergraduate students’ (N = 6) strategies for smartphone self-regulation during self-study time and the extent to which these strategies were effective. IPA revealed three main themes: “Urgency, Context and Consistency”, “Learned Helplessness” and “Fear of Missing out (FoMO)”. The findings extend our understanding of how conceptual frameworks such as self-regulation apply to smartphone regulation during self-study, and provide insight into the barriers for effective regulatory behaviour. Implications for both self-study efficacy and smartphone regulation are discussed.

Aim: To evaluate the awareness of patients presenting to a government sector hospital in Lahore with gall stones regarding their disease and factors influencing it. Methodology: A cross sectional observation study was conducted at the Department of General Surgery, Services Hospital, Lahore from 1st January 2020 to 30th June 2021. A simple questionnaire to collect and analyze the data of the patients admitted for cholecystectomy. The content of the questionnaire included socio-demographic characteristics and questions to access the awareness of patients regarding gallstones. Data was entered and analyzed using EXCEL 2013. Frequencies and Percentages were calculated as descriptive statistics whereas Fisher's exact test was conducted as inferential statistics. Value of p less than 0.05 was considered as significant. Results: Only 13.5% patients had a good awareness of their own disease. Direct education about the disease from doctor (p=0.0320), media (0.0316) or self-study (0.0001) were significantly related to awareness. Conclusion: The awareness of the patients with symptomatic gall stones regarding their own disease is poor. Role of physicians and lack of its impact on this needs to be investigated further. Keywords: Patient Awareness, gall stones
