The possible functional role of vesicles and crystal-containing microbodies in the production of oxalate, endopolygalacturonase, or cellulase by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum was investigated. The presence of multivesicular bodies in hyphal tips was not correlated with secretion or production of oxalate or these extracellular hydrolases. More crystal-containing microbodies were present in hyphal tips grown on media which supported greater extracellular enzyme production. No correlation existed between numbers of crystal-containing microbodies in hyphal tips and production of oxalate. Numerous membrane-bound vesicles (0.09–0.18 µm diam) were associated with tips grown on a D-glucose–Na succinate medium which supported high production of oxalate. The general ultrastructural organization of these hyphal tips was similar to that reported for other ascomycetes. Differences in numbers and distributions of organelles were observed between hyphal tips and older hyphae as well as between hyphal tips grown on the different carbon sources.

The aim was to study the level of some cytokines (İL-2, İL-6, İL-8 TNFα) and calcium regulating hormones (calcitonin, parathyroid hormone, 25 (OH) D) in the blood of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) depending on rheumatoid factor (RF) and the assessment of the role of the revealed violations in the pathogenesis of bone loss in this pathology. For this purpose, 74 patients with RA (59 women, 15 men) aged from 27 to 71 were examined. On the basis of RF in the blood serum, the patients were divided into 2 groups: seronegative and seropositive RA. The control group included 16 healthy individuals (13 women, 3 men). The results obtained that the serological variant of RA affects the serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines and calcium-regulating hormones: more pronounced changes were found in seropositive RA. The high production of IL-2, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α and parathyroid hormone detected in both groups of patients undoubtedly contributes to the mechanisms of bone loss in RA. In both groups we detected hypovitaminosis D. This results recommended to use this vitamin in the complex treatment of RA.

Peritonealfibrosis (PF) is a common morphological change in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. With the progression of PF, peritoneal membrane function is impaired, which leads to ultrafiltration failure. Results of studies in recent years show the crucial role of high production monocytic chemoattractant protein -1 (MCP-1) of peritoneal fibrosis in PD-patients. The aim was to determine intraperitoneally production ofIL-10 and MCP-1 and its relationship with clinical and laboratory parameters of adequacy of dialysis. Patients and methods. A prospective observational study involved 18patients with CKD stage Vwith non-diabetic nephropathy, were treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (PAPD). The limits of the normal range (reference range) were obtained from the survey results of 10 conditionally healthy individuals. ELISA method in serum and peritoneal dialysis effluent (PDE) investigated levels ofIL-10 and MSP-1. PAPD adequacy indicators evaluated by determining the concentration of urea and creatinine in plasma, urine and dialysate, calculated weekly creatinine clearance (CrCl), dialysis (Ш/ Vd), renal (Ш / Vr) and шА weekly urea clearance (Kt/ V). [email protected]  Results. In all of the PD-patients compared to healthy donors conventionally, there was a significant increase in concentration of the cytokines. We determined the positive regression relationship between the concentration of MCP-1 and IL-10 in PDE and the level of total weekly (Kt / V) and renal (Kt / Vr). Conclusions. We determined the regression dependence, which allowed to identify clinical parameters that are most closely (statistically significant) related to intraperitoneal production of MCP-1 and IL-10.

By using wild-type and deoxystreptamine-negative mutants of Streptomyces fradiae grown in media containing [6(-3)H]glucose or [U-14C]glucose, and by subsequent hydrolysis of the labelled neomycin produced, neamines labelled with 3H in both rings I and II, but with 14C in ring I only, were prepared. A mixture of these two forms of neamine was converted by deoxystreptamine-negative Streptomyces rimosus forma paromomycinus into neomycin (not paromomycin) with a 30% yield. The3H: 14C ratio in this neomycin was the same as the measured in neamine produced by hydrolysis of the neomycin, and in unused neamine reisolated from the incubation medium. The 3H:14C ratio in the neomycin was not affected by the presence of unlabelled deoxystreptamine during the incubation. The radioactivity in the neomycin was associated with rings I and II only. It is concluded that the added neamine is incorporated into antibiotic intact, without initial hydrolysis, and that the probable first step in the subunit assembly of neomycin is the formation of neamine.

Application of conventional cutting fluids often cannot control the high cutting temperatures, especially in high production machining. In addition, they are a major source of pollution in machining industries. Cryogenic cooling is a potential environmentally friendly clean technology for desirable control of the cutting temperature. The present work deals with experimental investigations on the role of cryogenic cooling by liquid nitrogen jets on chip formation and cutting forces in turning AISI 1040 steel and AISI 4320 steel at industrial speed—feed combinations by two types of carbide inserts of different geometrical configurations. The experimental results indicate the possibility of a substantial reduction in cutting forces by cryogenic cooling, which enabled a reduction in cutting forces by favourable chip formation, chip—tool interaction and also retention of tool sharpness due to reduced cutting temperature. Thus cryogenic cooling, if properly employed, is not only environmentally friendly but can also improve machinability characteristics.

The need to reduce agricultural input costs while increasing soil fertility has prompted researchers to look for alternative crop production systems that include N fixing crops. Annual legumes can be used in rotations as forages and green manure crops to increase the organic matter and N content of soils and provide soil cover to control erosion and weeds. Despite the benefits of annual legumes, high production costs and scarcity of seed has hindered their use.Key words: Medic, clover, vetch, pea, bean, lentil, forage yield, forage quality

ABSTRACT In order to establish the role of eosinophils in destroying parasites, transgenic mice have been used in experimental helminthiases but not in filariasis. Litomosoides sigmodontis offers a good opportunity for this study because it is the only filarial species that completes its life cycle in mice. Its development was compared in transgenic CBA/Ca mice overexpressing interleukin-5 (IL-5) and in wild-type mice following subcutaneous inoculation of 40 infective larvae. An acceleration of larval growth was observed in the IL-5 transgenic mice. However, the recovery rate of adult worms was considerably reduced in these mice, as evidenced 2 months postinoculation (p.i.). The reduction occurs between days 10 and 30 p.i. in the coelomic cavities. As early as day 10, spherical aggregates of eosinophils and macrophages are seen attached on live developing larvae (always similarly localized on the worm) in both wild-type and transgenic mice. However, on day 60 p.i., granulomas were found in the transgenic mice only, probably because of the higher density of eosinophils. Furthermore, on day 30 p.i., young filariae are seen trapped in granulomas, some of them surrounded by Splendore-Hoeppli deposits, which illustrates the release of the major basic protein by eosinophils. The high protection rate obtained (65%) is similar to that observed previously in BALB/c mice following vaccination with irradiated larvae. Both protocols have a common factor, the high production of IL-5 and eosinophilia. However, protection occurs later in primary infected transgenic mice because specific antibodies are not yet present at the time of challenge.

Abstract: High production of rubber plants in Rokan Hulu district has not significantly contributed yet to increasing the welfare of rubber farmers. This is due to a lack of rubber processing industry, leading to rubber being sold in the form of primary product (fresh sap). Therefore, developing an agro-rubber industry is of capital importance. The purposes of the present study were (1) analyze the marketing margin of rubber gum at each marketing level in Rokan Hulu district; (2) analyze the role of rubber agro-industries in the economics of Kampar and Rokan Hulu regions; (3) develop rubber agro-industry to improve the economics of Rokan Hulu district. The methods used in the present research included analysis of marketing margins, input and output analyses, and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process). The results showed that both crumb and smoked rubbers sectors play strategic roles in developing other sectors in Kampar district (DFL, IFL> 1). In addition, it was also observed that the rubber sector tended to use the output of other sectors as production inputs (DBL, IBL> 1). Both crumb and smoked rubbers sectors had great abilities to influence not only the regional output multiplier (multiplier output), but also the income multiplier (income multiplier) (I > 1). However, the ability of the NTB multiplier (multiplier NTB) to improve the sectors was very low (NBT <1). This showed that rubber industry has better development opportunities in Rokan Hulu. The type of rubber processing industry to be developed in Rokan Hulu depends on the perceptions of stakeholders. For instance, a rubber industry that can produce products such as rubber crumb, sheet, Sir 10, and Sir 20. Initial attempts by local government in developing the rubber industry is the increase of qualified, skilled, and reliable human resources to insure optimal functioning of the rubber agro-industry.
