Achieving the desired high quality of student education is a major goal and task of the higher medical schools. Training is a very factual process involving not only learning and material facilities, but also teaching staff and motivated students. The main objective in the preparation of healthcare students is the quality practical training that modern higher education has to provide. No less important is the student's opinion on the methods and tools used in their training. For this reason, the younger generation sets its requirements in its formation as a medical specialist. The modern lecturer must skillfully pass on knowledge so that a transfer of competences from theory to practice can be successfully accomplished. The purpose: Establish the students' opinion on the quality of the learning process, allowing an effective transfer of competences from theory to practice. Materials and Methods: The analyzes in this report are from an anonymous questionnaire conducted among 145 students from the Thracian University from the professional field "Health Care" - first, second and third courses specialty "Rehabilitator therapist", "Medical Laboratory assistant", "Geriatric Care" and " Nursing "during the summer semester of the school year 2017/18. MSExcel and StatGrafics were used to process the data. Results and Discussion: To achieve effective training, it is imperative for lectures to maintain a high level of competence and constantly get acquainted with developments in medical science. Students highly appreciate as the most important qualities of the teacher's ability to maintain the interest of students "; "Attitude towards students" and its "competence". A significant percentage of those surveyed believe that the theory, in theory, finds real application in practice. The transfer of knowledge from theory to practice is a two-way information process between lecturers and students of scientific knowledge and practical skills. Finally, we can point out that the transfer of competence from theory to practice is a process influenced by a number of factors such as: the professional competencies of the academic lecturer and the clinical tutor; better collaboration between the higher medical school and the clinical base; organization of training. Maintaining the interest of the students in acquiring the medical profession is an important prerequisite for their subsequent successful realization.

As one of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda, gender equality is a necessary foundation for a peaceful and sustainable world. The integration of the frameworks of analysis and action provided by gender perspective into the design, development and assessment of any program related to university education, research and management is essential to the fulfillment of both quality higher education and an effective transfer of knowledge and values to society. Starting from a standpoint of commitment to this progressive outlook, this essay focuses on the specific case of the University of Alicante, Spain, and on its Architecture studies. It seeks to underline the achievements of this institution in the fostering of a critical spirit and the empathy of its students by way of the implementation of gender perspective as a tool for the conception of complex, diverse and integrating projects, aligned to the objective of mutual care between people and the environment. This is crucial for the co-education of future generations of architects, who will play a central role in the definition of new practices and policies related to space and materials, which favor a more sustainable, inclusive and caring scenario for both humans and non-humans.

The main form of interfacial bond stress between prestressed CFRP sheets and the beams of steel reinforced concrete(SRC) are interfacial shear and peel-off stress. The effective transfer of adhesive stress is the fundamental to ensure the structure bearing capacity improved after strengthened. According to the principle of minimum potential energy and combining with the mechanical behavior of prestressed CFRP sheets and the beams of SRC, the calculated formulas of interfacial shear and peel-off stress are deduced under symmetry concentrated loads. The influences of initial strain and the layer of CFRP sheets are discussed. The calculation results show that the effective availability of CFRP sheets is increased with the initial strain increasing under the load. And the interfacial shear and peel-off stress of beam-end are increased simultaneously with the initial strain and the layers of CFRP sheets increasing, which lead to the ends of beams occurred peel-off failure easily.

The mission of official statistics is to provide credible, reliable, independent and high-quality information on the state and changes in society, the economy and the environment, meet the needs of domestic and foreign users. Fulfillment of this obligation is reflected in the work of the current official statistics and in development activities. Monitoring of the socio-economic development requires continuous adaptation of statistics to the changing reality and the description of the phenomena and processes. The role of official statistics in the modern world goes far beyond the implementation of the research. Measuring sustainable development and information support for development policy are tangible examples of the undertaken challenges. The form and manner of data presentation have increasing importance for the effective transfer of information. To answer the need to improve communication with users, the CSO is implementing new systems of information share. The article describes, among others, ”Strateg” and ”Knowledge Databases”.

Automatic fingerspelling recognition tackles the communication barrier between deaf and hearing individuals. However, the accuracy of fingerspelling recognition is reduced by high intra-class variability and low inter-class variability. In the existing methods, regular convolutional kernels, which have limited receptive fields (RFs) and often cannot detect subtle discriminative details, are applied to learn features. In this study, we propose a receptive field-aware network with finger attention (RFaNet) that highlights the finger regions and builds inter-finger relations. To highlight the discriminative details of these fingers, RFaNet reweights the low-level features of the hand depth image with those of the non-forearm image and improves finger localization, even when the wrist is occluded. RFaNet captures neighboring and inter-region dependencies between fingers in high-level features. An atrous convolution procedure enlarges the RFs at multiple scales and a non-local operation computes the interactions between multi-scale feature maps, thereby facilitating the building of inter-finger relations. Thus, the representation of a sign is invariant to viewpoint changes, which are primarily responsible for intra-class variability. On an American Sign Language fingerspelling dataset, RFaNet achieved 1.77% higher classification accuracy than state-of-the-art methods. RFaNet achieved effective transfer learning when the number of labeled depth images was insufficient. The fingerspelling representation of a depth image can be effectively transferred from large- to small-scale datasets via highlighting the finger regions and building inter-finger relations, thereby reducing the requirement for expensive fingerspelling annotations.

Abstract. Although arctic tundra has been estimated to cover only 8% of the global land surface, the large and potentially labile carbon pools currently stored in tundra soils have the potential for large emissions of carbon (C) under a warming climate. These emissions as radiatively active greenhouse gases in the form of both CO2 and CH4 could amplify global warming. Given the potential sensitivity of these ecosystems to climate change and the expectation that the Arctic will experience appreciable warming over the next century, it is important to assess whether responses of C exchange in tundra regions are likely to enhance or mitigate warming. In this study we compared analyses of C exchange of Arctic tundra between 1990–1999 and 2000–2006 among observations, regional and global applications of process-based terrestrial biosphere models, and atmospheric inversion models. Syntheses of the compilation of flux observations and of inversion model results indicate that the annual exchange of CO2 between arctic tundra and the atmosphere has large uncertainties that cannot be distinguished from neutral balance. The mean estimate from an ensemble of process-based model simulations suggests that arctic tundra acted as a sink for atmospheric CO2 in recent decades, but based on the uncertainty estimates it cannot be determined with confidence whether these ecosystems represent a weak or a strong sink. Tundra was 0.6 °C warmer in the 2000s compared to the 1990s. The central estimates of the observations, process-based models, and inversion models each identify stronger sinks in the 2000s compared with the 1990s. Similarly, the observations and the applications of regional process-based models suggest that CH4 emissions from arctic tundra have increased from the 1990s to 2000s. Based on our analyses of the estimates from observations, process-based models, and inversion models, we estimate that arctic tundra was a sink for atmospheric CO2 of 110 Tg C yr−1 (uncertainty between a sink of 291 Tg C yr−1 and a source of 80 Tg C yr−1) and a source of CH4 to the atmosphere of 19 Tg C yr−1 (uncertainty between sources of 8 and 29 Tg C yr−1). The suite of analyses conducted in this study indicate that it is clearly important to reduce uncertainties in the observations, process-based models, and inversions in order to better understand the degree to which Arctic tundra is influencing atmospheric CO2 and CH4 concentrations. The reduction of uncertainties can be accomplished through (1) the strategic placement of more CO2 and CH4 monitoring stations to reduce uncertainties in inversions, (2) improved observation networks of ground-based measurements of CO2 and CH4 exchange to understand exchange in response to disturbance and across gradients of hydrological variability, and (3) the effective transfer of information from enhanced observation networks into process-based models to improve the simulation of CO2 and CH4 exchange from arctic tundra to the atmosphere.

This paper presents a co-teaching mentor model, which improved the teaching of academics and enhanced student satisfaction and retention. Two research-focused lecturers responsible for first-year units were partnered with a co-teaching mentor to offer guidance on how the content (urban and regional planning) could be delivered more effectively with an emphasis on student engagement and motivation. These two case studies are discussed and the findings demonstrate the effective transfer of teaching awareness and skills through this process. Five key educational theories underpin the substantive changes made to the way that classes were delivered. The applied relevance and transfer of these ideas can be demonstrated in the reflections from the participating staff through a pedagogical analysis of the before and after changes in their teaching practices, and in the improved student evaluation and retention results.
