The invisibility criterion which is the standard technique for determining the nature of dislocations seen in the electron microscope can at times lead to erroneous results or at best cause confusion in many cases since the dislocation can still show a residual image if the term is non-zero, or if the edge and screw displacements are anisotropically coupled, or if the dislocation has a mixed character. The symmetry criterion discussed below can be used in conjunction with and in some cases supersede the invisibility criterion for obtaining a valid determination of the nature of the dislocation. The symmetry criterion is based upon the well-known fact that a dislocation, because of the symmetric nature of its displacement field, can show a symmetric image when the dislocation is correctly oriented with respect to the electron beam.

Stereo imaging is not new to electron microscopy. Von Ardenne, who first published transmission pairs nearly forty hears ago, himself refers to a patent application by Ruska in 1934. In the early days of the electron microscope von Ardenne employed a pair of magnetic lenses to view untilted specimens but soon opted for the now standard technique of tilting the specimen with respect to the beam.In the shadow electron microscope stereo images can, of course, be obtained by tilting the specimen between micrographs. This obvious method suffers from the disadvantage that the magnification is very sensitive to small changes in specimen height which accompany tilting in the less sophisticated stages and it is also time consuming. A more convenient method is provided by horizontally displacing the specimen between micrographs. The specimen is not tilted and the technique is both simple and rapid, stereo pairs being obtained in less than thirty seconds.

SUMMARY Since 1949 about 10,000 urinary corticoid analyses have been performed routinely in our laboratory. The method used for this purpose was described in 1950 (Sprechler). We determine the corticoids which can be extracted from the urine with chloroform immediately after acidification to pH 1. The extract is washed with sodium hydroxide and water, a Girard separation is performed, and finally the reducing power of the ketonic fraction is measured by means of the phosphomolybdic acid reagent reaction. During the last few years two other chemical reactions have been used for comparison: The formaldehyde and the Porter-Silber method. After a thorough examination of the above methods a standard technique was followed. In the formaldehyde method a microdiffusion in a Conway unit was used instead of distillation of the formaldehyde following the oxidation with periodic acid. The calibration curve was corrected for loss of material by taking the standard doses of DOC through all the procedures of the method. A micromodification of the Porter-Silber method was chosen. Furthermore attempts were made to determine how specific the chromatographic procedure is in the determination of steroids in urinary extracts. For this purpose the Florisil column was used, and the technique described by Nelson & Samuels was followed. Finally we have investigated the glucuronide-bound corticoids in urine in a smaller series of objects.

Gelendzhik is the resort town, there aren't a lot of industrial enterprises here. The main pollutant is transport. The work purpose is the assessment of a condition of the artificial landings of a pine located along the Federal highway "Don" and landings, which is nearly the sea coast. Researches were conducted to a standard technique of the General vital state (A. S. Bogolyubov). The assessment of a condition of pines was carried out during 6 years: from 2010 to 2015. For carrying out research we used 6 experimental grounds on the Markotkhsky spine and 2 control grounds within the town. We investigated 24 trees on each platform, middle age of the trees were 30 - 40 years. Results. 1. The condition of trees in the pine forests located in immediate proximity with the Federal highway "Don" (No. 1, 2, 3) is unsatisfactory. As even weak influences of the majority of atmospheric gaseous pollutants (sulphurous gas, nitrogen oxides, etc.) give effect of a necrosis and hloroz of pine needles, the condition of pines is connected with technogenic pollution. So near the Federal highway "Don" the air environment is strongly polluted by exhaust gases. Information of 2012 confirm that negative influence of the route on Markotkh's vegetation decreases at reduction of load of the route. 2. On the sites located above on a slope (No. 4,5,6) thanks to remoteness and the wind mode intensity of influence of pollutants is lower and a condition of pines the quite satisfactory. 3. Trees on the sites located near the sea (No. 7,8) are in a good shape. Small deterioration of a state is noted in very droughty years. Conclusion. Results of six years' research show that the condition of the plantings which are in close proximity with the road worsens. It is explained by increase in intensity of the movement on the road, especially during a resort season. Gelendzhik is the city with a good ecological shape, but the damage to environment is already caused. If not to take measures, we can lose a unique part of the nature in the future, recreate it will be impossible. Measures of reduction of negative impact of exhaust gases were offered. Results of researches are transferred to ecological department of the City administration of Gelendzhik.

Abstract We compute the Darwin operator contribution ($$ 1/{m}_b^3 $$ 1 / m b 3 correction) to the width of the inclusive non-leptonic decay of a B meson (B+, Bd or Bs), stemming from the quark flavour-changing transition b → $$ {q}_1{\overline{q}}_2{q}_3 $$ q 1 q ¯ 2 q 3 , where q1, q2 = u, c and q3 = d, s. The key ideas of the computation are the local expansion of the quark propagator in the external gluon field including terms with a covariant derivative of the gluon field strength tensor and the standard technique of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE). We confirm the previously known expressions of the $$ 1/{m}_b^3 $$ 1 / m b 3 contributions to the semi-leptonic decay b → $$ {q}_1\mathrm{\ell}{\overline{\nu}}_{\mathrm{\ell}} $$ q 1 ℓ ν ¯ ℓ , with ℓ = e, μ, τ and of the $$ 1/{m}_b^2 $$ 1 / m b 2 contributions to the non-leptonic modes. We find that this new term can give a sizeable correction of about −4 % to the non-leptonic decay width of a B meson. For Bd and Bs mesons this turns out to be the dominant correction to the free b-quark decay, while for the B+ meson the Darwin term gives the second most important correction — roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of the phase space enhanced Pauli interference contribution. Due to the tiny experimental uncertainties in lifetime measurements the incorporation of the Darwin term contribution is crucial for precision tests of the Standard Model.

AbstractDeterioration in soil–water environment severely contributed by heavy metal bioavailability and mobility on soil surface and sub-surface due to irrational increase in wastewater discharge and agrochemical activities. Therefore, the feasibility of adsorption characteristics of the soil is paramount in curbing the problem of micropollutant contamination in the farming vicinity. Soil from a farming site in a populated area in Enugu, Nigeria was collected and tested to measure the lead and cadmium contents using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The adsorption potency of the ultisol soil was estimated for identifiable physicochemical properties by standard technique. The mean activity concentration of Pb2+ and Cd2+ was 15.68 mg/kg and 3.01 mg/kg. The pH, temperature, metal concentration and contact time adsorptive effect on the Pb2+ and Cd2+ uptake was evaluated by batch adsorption technique. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin models were fitted into equilibrium adsorption data and the calculated results depict a better and satisfactory correlation for Langmuir with higher linear regression coefficients (Pb2+, 0.935 and Cd2+, 0.971). On the basis of sorption capacity mechanism of the soil, pseudo-second-order model best described the kinetics of both metal ions retention process. The results of the present study indicated that the soil being a low cost-effective adsorbent can be utilized to minimize the environmental risk impact of these metal ions.

Abstract Purpose This study aimed to standardize the operative technique of indocyanine green (ICG) near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) and compare it with the standard technique. Methods In the last 4 years, we performed 22 LPN (14 right-sided, 8 left-sided) in children with non-functioning moiety of duplex kidney. Patients included 12 girls and 10 boys with a median age of 3.9 years (range 1–10). Patients were grouped according to the use of ICG-NIRF: G1 included 12 patients operated using ICG-NIRF and G2 included 10 patients receiving the standard technique. We standardized the technique of injection of ICG in three different steps. Results The median operative time was significantly lower in G1 [87 min (range 68–110)] compared with G2 [140 min (range 70–220)] (p = 0.001). One intra-operative complication occurred in G2. At post-operative ultrasound (US), the residual moiety was normal in all patients. An asymptomatic renal cyst related to the site of surgery was visualized at US in 8/22 (36%), with a significantly higher incidence in G2 (6/10, 60%) compared with G1 (2/12, 16.6%) (p = 0.001). Renogram demonstrated no loss of function of residual moiety. No allergic reactions to ICG occurred. Conclusion ICG-NIRF LPN is technically easier, quicker, and safer compared with the standard technique. The main advantages of using ICG-NIRF during LPN are the clear identification of normal ureter, vasculature of non-functioning pole, and demarcation line between the avascular and the perfused pole. The main limitation of ICG technology remains the need for specific laparoscopic equipment that is not always available.

This Ensuing generation of FPGA circuit tolerates the combination of lot of hard and soft cores as well as devoted accelerators on a chip. The Heterogene Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (Ht-MPSoC) architecture accomplishes the requirement of modern applications. A compound System on Chip (SoC) system designed for single FPGA chip, and that considered for the performance/power consumption ratio. In the existing method, a FPGA based Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model used to define the Ht-MPSoC configuration by taking into consideration the sharing hardware accelerator between the cores. However, here, the sharing method differs from one processor to another based on FPGA architecture. Hence, high number of hardware resources on a single FPGA chip with low latency and power targeted. For this reason, a fuzzy based MIP and Graph theory based Traffic Estimator (GTE) are proposed system used to define New asymmetric multiprocessor heterogene framework on microprocessor (AHt-MPSoC) architecture. The bandwidths, energy consumption, wait and transmission range are better accomplished in this suggested technique than the standard technique and it is also implemented with a multi-task framework. The new Fuzzy control-based AHt-MPSoC analysis proves significant improvement of 14.7 percent in available bandwidth and 89.8 percent of energy minimized to various traffic scenarios as compared to conventional method.
