A constantly increasing number of deaths on roads forces analysts to search for models that predict the driver’s propensity for road traffic accidents (RTAs). This paper aims to examine a relationship between the speed and space assessment capabilities of drivers in terms of their association with the occurrence of RTAs. The method used for this purpose is based on the implementation of the interval Type-2 Fuzzy Inference System (T2FIS). The inputs to the first T2FIS relate to the speed assessment capabilities of drivers. These capabilities were measured in the experiment with 178 young drivers, with test speeds of 30, 50, and 70 km/h. The participants assessed the aforementioned speed values from four different observation positions in the driving simulator. On the other hand, the inputs of the second T2FIS are space assessment capabilities. The same group of drivers took two types of space assessment tests—2D and 3D. The third considered T2FIS sublimates of all previously mentioned inputs in one model. The output in all three T2FIS structures is the number of RTAs experienced by a driver. By testing three proposed T2FISs on the empirical data, the result of the research indicates that the space assessment characteristics better explain participation in RTAs compared to the speed assessment capabilities. The results obtained are further confirmed by implementing a multiple regression analysis.

This study examined the effect of system status presentation on driver behavior when driving with ACC and LKA, which are classified as level 2 automated driving. First, we analyzed the driving behavior of 40 test participants in a driving simulator study under three HMI conditions: without safety level, correct safety level, and incorrect safety level which does not work properly and becomes inactive. The driver behavior database constructed in this experiment, was used to quantify the accident avoidance probability under each HMI condition using the state transition probabilistic model proposed by the author in a previous study. Finally, we quantified the degree of reduction in the probability of accident occurrence when using this HMI device in consideration of the risk of malfunction based on the integrated error model proposed by the author. Based on these results, it was shown that the HMI device that acts as a real-time interface at the system safety level between the driver and the automated driving using ACC and LKA is effective in reducing traffic accidents regardless of the increased probability of traffic accidents due to malfunctions of HMI device.

It is of great significance to simulate dangerous traffic environment with vehicle driving simulator for reducing and preventing road traffic accidents. Firstly, a typical dynamic traffic scene was obtained and designed by using genetic algorithm, then a chaotic algorithm based on computer virtual reality scene was proposed. Finally, a dynamic scene in urban road scene was taken as an example, of which the simulation was designed and implemented by using virtual reality technology. The results show that the virtual operating environment of driver micro-traffic simulation can be effectively constructed with the combination of virtual reality technology and dynamic traffic scene.

Background: In Bangladesh fatality rate due to road traffic accidents is rising sharply day by day. At least 2297 people were killed and 5480 were injured in road traffic accidents within 1st six months of 2017.Whereas in the previous year at 2016 at least 1941 people were killed and 4794 were injured within the 1st six months. No survey has been reported in Bangladesh yet correlating ADHD as a reason of impulsive driving which ends up in a road crash.

COVID 19 is undeniably one of the deadliest diseases that humanity has ever seen. It continues to affect the lives and livelihood of people appallingly across the world. Maximum discussions focus towards the apprehension of catching the infection, dwelling in homes, overpopulated nursing homes and shut down of all kinds. But, here let’s discuss the positive side of COVID 19 pandemic. As COVID 19 has spread its influence all over the world, affected countries have either announced lockdown or have implemented severe restrictions in their respective countries. Because of this, everyone dwells in their homes. Thus, exercising social distancing and functioning from home. All of the above is directed at restricting the transmission of coronavirus and expectantly ostracising the fatality from COVID 19. These transformations have also brought about some unanticipated emanations; some good things have come out of the pandemic as well. Positive effects of COVID 19 are seen on reduced road traffic, and road traffic accidents lowered levels of air pollution which has to lead to lowered heart attack rates and rejuvenating environment. Crime rates have fallen, and expenses are reduced in most places. Community action, communication amongst families, behaviour, sanitation, hygiene, online and distance education has positively impacted by COVID 19 pandemic. COVID 19 despite a bane for humans, can be thought of a boon for living beings. The habitats and elements have been purified with the stringent use of petrochemical products. To breathe fresh air and to consume purified water is a boon by itself. Now, it is time for humans to lead a caring life to every bounty bestowed on them by Nature. This thoughtful and considerate life will give hope for a healthy, stress-free life.
