Polyimide (PI) was chosen as the matrix of the composite, barium titanate/polyimide (BT/PI) nanocomposite films were prepared by in situ polymerization. In order to improve the dispersion and the physical-chemical properties of BT surface, barium titanate was modified by Al2O3coating and modified BT/PI nanocomposite films were prepared. The prepared modified BT was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the dielectric properties of the composites were characterized in detail. It was shown that surface modification with Al2O3is the chemical process and there were new substances forming. When BT was modified by 10 wt% Al2O3, the dielectric constant of the composite film was 18.96 (103Hz), the loss tangent 0.005, breakdown strength 70 MV·m-1, energy storage density 0.41 J·cm-3. The dielectric constant of BT modified by Al2O3is decreased while the dielectric strength of the modified BT/PI composite film is increased.

The aim of this research was to probe the potential application of nano-titanium dioxide (TiO2)/basic magnesium hypochlorite (BMH)-containing linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) composite film in grape fresh-keeping. Mechanical properties, transparency, barrier performance and antibacterial activity of the nano-composite membrane were measured, and results showed that the antibacterial zone diameter of TiO2/BMH on pathogen-Aspergillus niger was 31.4 mm, with mixing ratio of BMH/TiO2 to 2:1. It was clearly shown that the synthesized nano-composite films decreased mechanical properties and transparency of the membrane, and also had a significant impact on sensory score, mass loss rate, decay rate, ascorbic acid (Vc) content and titratable acid content compared with LLDPE films. Moreover, the results revealed that the LLDPE antibacterial film can be effectively used for storing grapes, preserving the flavor of grapes and had an obviously effect in prolonging grapes’ shelf life.

The mechanical properties of graphene oxide papers have attracted significant attention in recent years due to their high stiffness and tough behavior. While the structural feature most commonly characterized is the nanosheet spacing, there is a hierarchical structure, which is likely responsible for the impressive mechanical properties. In this paper, we examine the structure of graphene oxide papers on several length scales using novel techniques to distinguish between lamellae and a newly defined feature, termed “super-lamellae.” The differentiation between these intermediate features provides context to the previously observed mechanical response and fracture surfaces of graphene oxide papers, particularly under uniaxial tension.
