ntroduction. The socio-economic development of the Russian Far East is one of the most important strategic directions of Russia, corresponding to the national interests and development vector. For this vector to be transmitted to the regional and sectoral level, it needs strategic opportunities, relevant in the context of multiple trends and limited resource base. Energy security includes reliable energy consumption and efficiency. It ensures the socio-economic progress of developing economies and emerging-market countries. The Russian Far East has accumulated enough scientific, technical, industrial, and production potential to use gas industry as a long-term driver of socio-economic development. The research objective was to analyze and systematize the main interest groups focused on the development of gas industry in the Russian Far East. Study objects and methods. The study was based on the theory of strategy and the methodology of strategizing developed by Professor V.L. Kvint, as well as on authentic methods of industrial strategizing. Results and discussion. The article introduces a concept scheme that illustrates the relationship between regional and sectoral gas strategies of the Russian Far East, as well as their place in the general system of strategies. The author systematized the main national, social, regional, industrial, corporate, and international interests. The analysis confirmed the long-term interest of the gas industry in the Far Eastern Federal District at each of these levels. Conclusion. In the Russian Far East, gas industry will establish strong vertical and horizontal relationships in the system of strategies, thus producing a multiplicative effect on the socio-economic development of the whole Far Eastern Federal District and its regions.

The investigation starts with the computation of the Socio-Economic Development Index (SEDI index) with data for Romania. Based on the index values, the long-run relationship between taxes and expenditure is assessed, for Romanian NUTS2 regions from 2000 to 2016. According to the results, there is a Granger causality relationship from budget revenue and expenditure to SEDI. The results emphasize the significant impact of taxes and expenditure on socio-economic development. The paper underlines the need for effective public strategies to be implemented by the authorities at the regional level, which may propel the socio-economic development. The results support the fiscal synchronization hypothesis.

Abstract We start from the assumption that the main problem, and at the same time the goal, is socio-economic development. We also assume that this pursuit is universal, development is the ambition of entities at all levels of aggregation, development is a desire of each country, as well as of business entities and individuals. From the other side, the governments create conditions for entities at the microeconomic level which generate additional value, that is, contribute to the creation of this development. Peculiar to them they are developmental paths. That’s why, the main hypothesis of this article, as stating that the choice of economic policy financed by excessive public debt does not, in the long run, serve well real socio-economic development. At the beginning of the 21st century, the vast majority of these countries had serious problems with public debt. These problems already had their history and were so serious that some efforts to discipline the forum of this group appeared. It is, in a sense, natural in the sense that integration itself is heading to a high degree of coordination and to the unification of all economic policies. The picture of public finances of the European Union does not look good despite the fact that this group can boast a long history of making efforts to control and monitor the budgets of its member states. Moreover, one can even talk about a certain intensification of this process, especially with respect to the euro area countries, but we still can not say that satisfactory results have been achieved.

This study aims to assess the impact of Greenfield-Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows on the socio-economic development of ten developing countries. Developing economies rely on investment from developed countries, especially Greenfield investment. Greenfield investment is the new capital inflow to the host country's economy that helps to improve economic activities, boosts economic growth, and improves socio-economic welfare. This study has used Greenfield investment as the target-independent variable and other controlled variables remittances, aid, inflation, population, and trade openness. At the same time, socio-economic development, health, economic growth, and education are dependent variables. For this purpose, Pooled Mean Group (PMG) technique/Panel Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) has applied for estimation purposes from 1990 to 2017. The empirical findings have shown that Greenfield-FDI has a long-term statistically significant and positive effect on economic growth, health, education, and socio-economic development. In comparison, remittances and official development assistance have positive and negative impacts on the study's dependent variables. The population also has a positive effect, whereas inflation and trade have mixed results. Outcomes of this study advise that policymakers should adopt attractive investment policies to enhance more foreign investment and utilize it efficiently, thereby promoting sustainable development. The government should announce firms to invest in human capital, which will impact productivity.

The virtues and shortcomings of the new fiscal rules are analyzed, the comparison with the fiscal rules that had been suspended during the financial crisis is presented, and possibilities for further development of the new fiscal rules are discussed. The long run socio-economic development forecast is employed for these purposes.

Abstract The Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship is a NUTS II region, which belongs to the least developed regions of Poland and the EU. One of the reasons of its underdevelopment is poor transport accessibility, which limits the level of competitiveness and investment attractiveness. For this reason the voivodship authorities made a decision to build a regional airport by modernising the military airport in Szymany near Szczytno. The investment, which is co-financed by the European Funds, is aimed to reduce the level of peripherality of the region, increase its competitiveness and, as a consequence, raise the socio-economic development level. This paper aims to answer three questions. The first one concerns the extent to which the existence of a regional airport is a factor stimulating socio-economic development of regions, including peripheral ones. The second one is related to the question whether the location of the planned airport is justified by economic factors, or, to put in another way, whether the airport will bring profits in the long run. The last question, related to the previous ones, is whether the realisation of the investment in the planned form will help to reduce the degree of peripherality of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship and thus accelerate its socio-economic development.
