Venture capital (VC) provides a platform to empowered individuals with financial constraints to transform their ideas into business models and attain commercial success. This article reviewed the growth and trends of VC industry across various regions such as the United States of America (USA), Europe, China, and India. Initially, VC firms flourished and developed in the USA and still it harbors the largest VC industry. From the USA, VC firms spread to Europe and then much later to emerging economies like China and India. Although the VC ecosystem had started late in China, it had registered higher growth when compared to Europe in terms of VC investment. China has become the second largest VC market. It was backed by government initiatives, vast market opportunities, and home-grown technology firm investments. India has started observing growth in VC space later than China but had ample opportunities to allow for a surge in VC activities.

Purpose This paper aims to describe the findings of a recent Infosys survey that found digital technologies are being used to meet focused objectives such as improving customer experience or increasing productivity. This is contrary to much of the earlier rhetoric that large companies must quickly make an exponential change to survive against the digital upstarts. Design/methodology/approach This paper is based on an Infosys survey of more than 1,000 senior management executives globally at companies with more than US$1bn in annual revenue across the USA, Europe, Australia, China and India. Findings This paper expands upon findings that outline why soft skills are just as important as technical ones to foster an organizational culture that ensures the success of digital initiatives. Specifically, the paper elaborates on findings across five key areas: planning, hiring, training for skills, incentives and workplace for organizational culture. Originality/value This paper will help HR leaders build a lifelong learning culture and use it to retain top talent. This includes pursuing multiple talent approaches and initiatives, providing training programs, rigorous hiring methods and working toward sustainably smarter infrastructures.

Abstract Every day the architecture expands its borders and opportunities. In meeting the challenges of commercial office buildings designing, which include not only the aesthetic and functional aspects, the efficiency problem of their exploitation becomes more actual, including resource conservation, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, environmental protection, safety (the fire, terrorism, natural disaster, etc.), comfortable working conditions, reduced operating expenses and economy. The regulatory and legal framework that ensures the development of intelligent buildings (IBs) and the establishment of automatic control systems in office buildings in the USA, Europe and Asia are analysed in the article. Based on the trends of the office buildings development, the main influencing factors of the automated control systems on the formation of intellectual and administrative buildings are identified and based on which a new vector of digital, dynamic and transformative architecture is selected.

In this article the alleged demise of the United States of America (USA) and the ability of its challengers will be discussed and analyzed. Based on George Modelski’s concept of Long-Cycles in Global Politics we can anticipate a disruption in the hegemonic position – currently held by the USA. Considering, the possibility of this scenario, the author executed a pragmatic comparative study and sketches out the chances for the two main competitors – China and India – which struggle mightily with domestic issues and on the other side presents four arguments, why the decline of the USA is not as apparent and looming as partly presumed. The arguments are: (i) the independence supply of natural resources; (ii) its supremacy over the world seas; (iii) reinstated activity in the Rimland and (iiii) control over the Global Commons.

The state and peculiarities of the development of the innovation infrastructure of Ukraine were analyzed in the article. It was found that: 1. At the present stage of development of the country, it is difficult to determine the real state and peculiarities of the development of innovation infrastructure, as different institutions provide different, and sometimes diametrically opposed, information on the number of elements of the innovation infrastructure that is created and functioning in Ukraine. 2. Innovation infrastructure of Ukraine is not only fragmentary, but it also shows a steady negative trend of development - the number of elements of innovation infrastructure is constantly decreasing. 3. Innovative funds and companies are the most developed type of innovation infrastructure in Ukraine. 4. The most innovatively active are large (on average 29.2% of surveyed large enterprises) and medium-sized enterprises. 5. The Most Ukrainian innovative enterprises implemented non-technological innovations (implemented marketing and organizational innovations). 6. The vast majority of Ukrainian innovative enterprises with technological innovations engaged in the purchase of machinery, equipment, software and facilities. 7. Only 25% of innovative enterprises with technological innovations co-operated with other enterprises and organizations. 8. Innovative enterprises with technological innovations often collaborated with suppliers of equipment, materials, components or software. 9. Innovative enterprises of Ukraine mostly cooperated with Ukrainian enterprises (on average, 24% of enterprises with technological innovations), on average European enterprises and organizations accounted for 5.7%, China and India – 1.3%, the USA – 1.2%. 10. Innovative activity of enterprises of Ukraine is characterized by clear regional and branch specifics. 11. The vast majority of innovative enterprises carry out their activities in the processing industry, information and telecommunications. 12. The regions-leaders in terms of the share of innovative enterprises in the total number of enterprises are Rivne, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The impact of knowledge determinants on global competitiveness based on multiple criteria assessment methodology and their empirical expert assessment was evaluated taking the comparative expert data of the U.S., Japan, China, and India for a case study. The complex evaluations were determined with an account of the education, knowledge and innovation parameters published in the international reports of the WEF, INSEAD a/o experts. As result of author evaluations was found that differences between the USA and Japan, on the one side, China and India, on other, by GTCI and GII levels are lower than their differences in GDP per capita (PPP). The correlation between GTCI scores and GDP per capita, also between national economic competitiveness and GTC indices is weaker than expected by an approach based on GTCI model. The deep difference in labor productivity per employee was determined by the technical retardation of India and China compared with USA and Japan. At the same time, the differences of superpowers in educating the employable skills are not so significant.
