Kata kunci :Artemisia vulgaris L., antioksidan, fenolik, peroksida, malonaldehida   ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF THE ETHANOL AND n-HEXANE EXTRACTS OF LEAVES OF GRASS SANTA MARIA (Artemisia vulgaris L.) IN FISH OIL ABSTRACT The purpose of the study was to determine the total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of the ethanol and n-hexane extracts of leaves of Artemisia vulgaris L. Total phenolic was determined using Follin-Ciocalteau method with gallic acid as a standard solution. The antioxidant activity was measured based on the analysis of the levels of peroxide and malonaldehida (MDA) in fish oil. The results showed that the ethanol extract had a total phenolic content of 81.224 mg/kg and n-hexane extracts of 20.101 mg/kg. The ability of peroxide and MDA inhibition by ethanol extract was higher than that by n-hexane extract. For comparison, α-tocopherol has higher inhibitory activity on peroxide and MDA than n-hexane extracts, but lower than ethanol extract. Keywords: Artemisia vulgaris L., antioxidants, phenolic, peroxide, malonaldehida

Fresh whole flowers of the butterfly pea were extracted with 95% ethanol and analyzed the antioxidant activity. The total phenolic content (TPC) of butterfly pea ethanolic extract (BE) was 26.90±1.12 mg gallic acid equivalents/g of dry weight and radical DPPH scavenging activity of ethanolic extract was. The ethanolic extract-loaded Nanostructured Lipid Carriers called BE-NLC were prepared by the high shear homogenization method using compritol 888 ATO, miglyol oil, poloxamer 188, extract and tween 80, respectively. Particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential 27.78±0.12 mg Trolox equivalents/g of dry weight and entrapment efficiency (EE) were determined. The morphology of the BE-NLC was spherical. The entrapment efficiency of extract was 72.51±1.11% in NLC system. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by the estimation of peroxide values (PVs) of fish oil from catfish, treated with natural antioxidant (BE and BE-NLC) and compared with butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT) as synthetic antioxidant by incubating at 65 °C for a period of 12 days. BHT was found to have higher antioxidant activity than BE and BE-NLC in fish oil. Treatment containing BE-NLC and BHT in fish oil showed similar PVs after the 4 days. However, the antioxidant activity of BE-NLC in stabilization of fish oil is higher than that of BE.

Wijayanti II, Budiharjo A, Pangastuti A, Prihapsara F, Artanti AN. 2018. Total phenolic content and antioxidant activity of ginger extract and SNEDDS with eel fish bone oil (Anguilla spp.). Nusantara Bioscience 10: 164-169. Aims of this study were to measure phenolic content of ginger (Zingiber officinale) and to observe the comparison of antioxidant activity between pure ginger extract and ginger extract in SNEDDS (Self Nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System) with bone of eel fish oil (Anguilla spp.) as a conductor. Analysis was done based on IC50 value using DPPH (2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method and activity of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) in vivo using Adrenochrome Assay. Determination of total phenolic content of ginger extract was measured by UV/Vis Spectrophotometric using Folin-Ciocalteau reagents then the absorbances were measured at wavelength 756 nm. Calculation of IC50 DPPH of the ginger extract and SNEDDS were measured using spectrophotometer UV/Vis at 517 nm wavelength. Measurements of SOD was based on the ability of SOD inhibit spontaneous auto reduction of epinephrine using Adrenochrome Assay at 12 male Wistar rats that divided into 4 treatment groups with 3 replicates for each group. Total phenolic content of ginger extract from 3 replications were 4,8519 ± 0,037 µg/mL equivalent with gallic acid standard solutions (GAE) or 485,1847 ± 3,7045 mgGAE/100 g dry weight. Antioxidant scavenging activity by DPPH assay of ginger was higher than SNEDDS. IC50 of ginger was 385.4 mg/mL, and IC50 of SNEDDS was 428.4 mg/mL. The result of descriptive analysis of Kruskal Wallis of SOD activity assay indicated significant differences between treatment groups (P = 0.001 (P <0.05)). SOD activity test performed in vivo showed that ginger extract made into SNEDDS system with eel fish oil used as the conductor has a significant influence compared with ginger extract group.
