The purpose of this research article was to determine the relationship between Solid Waste Management and Sustainable Development in a municipality of Lima, Peru in the context of COVID-19. The methodology was quantitative approach, correlational level, cross-sectional and non-experimental design. The population was made up of a total of 274 workers, while through probability sampling a total of 161 workers were obtained. It was used as the survey technique for each study variable, obtaining a reliability of 0.918 for the Solid Waste Management instrument and of 0.663 for Sustainable Development. To measure the correlation between the variables, the Spearman Rho Coefficient was used using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24. Among the results, it was obtained that the Spearman Rho correlation coefficient is weak and significant (r = 0.469, p = 0.000), while for the solid waste management dimension a moderate and significant correlation was obtained (r = 0.626, p = 0.000); Finally, for the solid waste management dimension, a weak correlation was obtained and without significance (r=0.135, p = 0.088). In conclusion, a better level of solid waste management will be reflected in a better level of sustainable development in the municipality under study.

Abstract This research examines challenges and responses in collecting household solid waste in high populated inaccessible neighborhoods in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The main questions of the research are: to which extent is the physical and behavioral environment affect waste management process; how waste is collected in inaccessible areas? In order to answer these questions, two major aspects will be analyzed the traditional planning methods and the environmental impact assessment. The researchers employed a mixed used method qualitative and quantitative data approaches. The research is based on field and desk study conducted in one of the most informal and services inaccessible settlement in Jordan. The results revealed that Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) uses unconventional measures and unreliable solid waste collection strategies to overcome the accessibility challenges in the site despite a lack of cooperation of the residents. The study also revealed that the absence of adequate urban regeneration and renewal programs by (GAM) to control the root cause for inadequate solid waste management in informal settlements in the city. This study is important since it establishes a cornerstone for stakeholders to make assessments and control waste management strategies in inaccessible neighborhoods in Amman and similar areas in the country. Moreover, it forms a useful resource for future researches about waste management studies in informal settlements. There is a scarcity in the literature on the relationship between the problem of solid waste management and informal inaccessible settlements in Jordan.

This work intends to analyze the use of the qualitative method in studies related to solid waste management. A systematic literature review of the articles published between 2014 and 2019 was made in the Scielo databases (Scientific Electronic Library Online), in the CAPES Journal Portal and Web Of Science. In addition to searching for reference journals in the area of waste (Waste Management and Waste Management and Research) through the descriptors “Qualitative Research” and “Solid Waste”; “Interview”, “Solid Waste” and “Perception” (Interviews, Solid Waste and Perception) and 598 articles were found, and after applying the selection criteria the universe was reduced to a total of 42 publications. The selected articles were analyzed and categorized according to the most relevant aspects such as work objectives, study sample and main results. Qualitative research has been found to be a viable tool and can be employed on a large scale in waste-related studies. It was also found that many studies that use the term “qualitative research” do not have the necessary methodological rigor to be named. It was found that qualitative research is adequate to answer questions in the field of waste studies such as the relationship between waste and public health problems, difficulties in selective collection and other management / treatment actions, environmental impacts, irregular waste disposal and problems in the management of special waste

The problem of establishing an effective solid waste management system is complex and still unresolved in Serbian municipalities, cities and settlements. Most landfills in Serbia do not meet basic sanitary standards and can often contain waste that is dangerous to human, plant and animal health, and waste that can be recycled is often dumped. The aim of this paper is to investigate the relationship between waste generation and private investments in waste management. Statistical method of multiple linear regression was used to examine the impact of three predictors - economic development, investments in waste management, and urban population, on the dependent variable - municipal solid waste generation. The results of the research reveal that investments in waste management in Serbia do not have an effect on the waste reduction because the financial resources for such investments are not adequately managed. There is a large number of scientific researches that have dealt with the analysis of the mentioned relationship, however, their number on the example of Serbia is rather scarce. The results of the research could be useful to the state administrations of the Republic of Serbia.

There Exploring the levels of knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of the citizen is an initial step towards designing comprehensive and participative solid waste management strategies, programs, and policies. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to capture the knowledge, attitude, and practices (KAP) on solid waste management from a total of 107 respondents in Penampang Proper Village, Penampang, Sabah, Malaysia. The study determined the relationship of the independent variables (year of birth, gender, education, and employment) with the dependent variables (KAP) using the Kruskal Wallis correlation test. Relationships were tested at 0.05 levels of significance and Spearman Rho correlation was used to test the relationship between the KAP variables at 0.01 levels of significance. It was found out that most respondents have excellent levels of KAP but none of the independent variables has a significant relationship to the KAP levels. However, the respondents' year of birth and educational level has a significant relationship to their practice level. Spearman Rho test also reveals that knowledge and attitude have a positive correlation with each other. The findings, therefore, may be useful to assist local campaigners in planning message materials, platforms and input to further increase citizen participation.
