This memoir is based upon the study of three normal human embryos belonging to the period of development preceding the cleavage of the paraxial mesoderm into the primitive segments, as well as of certain abnormal specimens of the same early period which have yielded valuable corroborative data, but will not be described in detail. Well-preserved specimens belonging to these early stages are very rare, and our knowledge has been, and can only be, built up from the detailed descriptions of isolated cases by the individual observers into whose hands they happen to fall.

The following investigation was begun three years ago with a view to inquire into the development of the pericardium, but it transpired that this question is inseparable from that of the development of the heart, great veins, and diaphragm. Since the Avian pericardium is complicated by various septa whose exact nature is not generally agreed upon, the embryos of Mammals, especially of Rabbits, have been used for the investigation, and Human embryos have been obtained to illustrate some of the later stages. But, as the embryo of the Rabbit is capricious in its development, it is hardly possible to say upon any particular day after impregnation what stage the embryos may have attained. As a rule, the various members of a litter differ amongst themselves, some being more advanced than others; so that, without this qualification, it would be misleading to specify, as some authors have done, the exact age of the embryo described or depicted. The origin of the Mammalian heart has been elucidated by various observers, especially by Balfour, Hensen His, and Kolliker, and only requires to be mentioned so far as it bears upon the present inquiry. In the Rabbit the organ begins to develop during the first half of the eighth day. And its commencement is indicated by a slight bending of the splanchnopleure into the widely separated halves of the cœlom (fig. 1, lit.). This loop is thicker than the rest of the splanchnopleure, owing to multiplication and elongation of its cells. A t this time the portion of the coelom into which the cardiac loops project is more capacious than the rest, but has not the same lateral extension. Its somatopleure, after running a little way outwards, turns abruptly ventral wards to join the splanchnopleure. At the foremost end of the rudimentary heart, where the bending of the somatopleure is greatest, both membranes disassociate themselves at an early period from the peripheral uncleft mesoblast; but further back they retain their original connexions. The accompanying drawing was made from a section which was slightly oblique, and illustrates both of these points (fig. 1). Afterwards, as development proceeds, the whole of the cardiocephalic region ultimately frees itself in this way from the peripheral uncleft mesoblast.

The study of morphogenesis and embryotopography of skull bones is important not only in understanding the normal development of the human embryo but also will improve existing methods of invasive treatment and visualization of various pathologies of the central nervous system in children.The aim was to investigate the peculiarities of morphogenesis and topography of some skull bones during the early stages of human ontogenesis.Material and methods. We have studied 14 series of consecutive histological sections of human embryos and pre-fetuses aged 6 to 11 weeks of intrauterine development by using a set of topical morphological methods (anthropometry, morphometry, histology, three-dimensional reconstruction).Results. The frontal and parietal bones appear at the end of the embryonic period as mesenchymal rudiments that gradually expand upwards from primary points of ossification (starting from the basolateral parts of the head). During 8th week of IUD, the germ of the ectomeningeal capsule is detected in the form of a thin plate, close to the brain. At the beginning of the pre-fetal period, histological signs of membranous ossification are revealed; frontal and parietal bones develop from paired rudiments, which gradually fuse, which was accompanied by active angiogenesis.Conclusions. The primary ossification centers in frontal and parietal bones of the human embryo appear at the beginning of embryological period and develop by membranous type. Two ossification centers appear in frontal and parietal bones and they gradually merge. At the beginning of the prenatal period, the rudiment of a small wing of the sphenoid, spheno-ethmoidal cartilage and signs of merging of both ossification centers in the parietal bone are detected.

SummaryNormal whole blood was allowed to stand in glass tubes at 37° C, and the clotting process stopped at various intervals by the addition of sodium oxalate. During the first 15 minutes a marked acceleration of clotting activity was found. Study of the individual coagulation factors showed the following changes: a sustained and rapid fall in platelet count, a sustained and rapid rise in PTC (factor IX), a steady fall in fibrinogen, a more gradual fall in AHF (factor VIII), a rapid rise and subsequent fall in proaccelerin (factor V) activity, a somewhat lesser and slower rise and fall in proconvertin (factor VII) activity, and a slow fall in prothrombin concentration. No changes were noted in Hageman factor or PTA activities.

We provide a framework of analysis for Chinese ways of learning that extends beyond the individual level. The theoretical framework focuses on Confucian principles of <i>xiào</i> (孝, filial piety), <i>guăn</i> (管, to govern), and <i>dào dé guān</i> (道德觀, virtues), which leads us to argue that directive guidance as a cultural practice nourishes Chinese-heritage children’s learning as early as in infancy. To illustrate how directive guidance occurs in action for infants, we present an empirical study that examined the interaction of mother-infant dyads in Taipei, Taiwan, when they played with a challenging toy. The dyads co-enacted directive guidance more frequently than their European-American counterparts in the USA – through hand holding, intervening, and collaboration – while infants actively participate in the practice. We discuss the early development of strengths for learning that is fostered through culturally meaningful practices recurrent in parent-infant interaction.

How much violence can a society expect its members to accept? A comparison between the language theories of Julia Kristeva and Jacques Lacan is the starting point for answering this question. A look at the early stages of language acquisition exposes the sacrificial logic of patriarchal society. Are those forces that restrict the individual to be conceived in a martial imagery of castration or is it possible that an existing society critically questions those points of socialization that leave their members in a state of homelessness? The following considerations should help to distinguish between unavoidable and avoidable forms of violence.

The synthesis of the benzylisoquinoline alkaloids, sanguinarine and berberine, was monitored in Argemone mexicana L. (Papaveracea) throughout the early stages of its hypocotyl and seedling development. Sanguinarine was detected in the cotyledons right after hypocotyl emergence, and it increased continuously until the apical hook unbent, prior to the cotyledonary leaves unfolding, when it abruptly fell. In the cotyledonary leaves, it also remained at low levels. Throughout development, berberine accumulation required the formation of cotyledonary leaves, whereas it was quickly detected in the hypocotyl from the time it emerged. Interestingly, the alkaloids detected in the cotyledons could have been imported from hypocotyls, because no transcriptional activity was detected in there. However, after turning into cotyledonary leaves, important levels of gene expression were noted. Taken together, these results suggest that the patterns of alkaloid tissue distribution are established from very early development, and might require transport systems.

Abstract. HRI challenges AI in numerous regards: dynamic, somewhat obscure conditions that were not initially intended for robots; a wide scope of circumstances with rich semantics to comprehend and decipher; physical associations with people that require fine, low-inactivity, yet socially satisfactory control systems; regular and multimodal correspondence. This paper is an endeavor to describe these difficulties and to introduce a lot of key dynamic issues that should be tended to for an intellectual robot to effectively impart space and assignments to a person. To begin with, we distinguish the individual and community oriented intellectual aptitudes required: mathematical thinking and circumstance appraisal dependent on point of view taking and cost-adequacy investigation; securing and the article talks about every one of these capacities, presents work executions and shows how they consolidate in a sound and unique human-robot collaboration deliberative design. Fortified by the aftereffects of the preliminary, we should in the long run exhibit how the board's express information, both symbolic and quantitative, is instrumental to more extravagant and more normal human-robot associations by squeezing for certain, human-level semantics inside the robot framework.
